Great video. A couple possible followup tests: Both rifles using the same scope, to test just the difference between the rifles. Next, the Vudoo with both scopes to test the change in accuracy due to optic quality.

I am a pedestrian shooter. A long time ago, I put a lot of rounds through break barrel air rifles. I own a CZ .22 I purchased more than twenty years ago. I don't even know the model. What I do know is that I went shooting with my nephew. I have a decent scope mounted on it. We were shooting outdoors at 100 yards off a card table and I don't recall what we were sitting on. I was shooting Elay Match ammo. I just had one try with five shots. They drifted in the wind about an inch or so but those five shots could have been covered by a nickel. I have been a CZ fan ever since. Great gun plus great ammo with decent everything else (young man's eyes and hold and grip) and groups get admirably tight. I love that memory.

Great Video as usual, Josh. I own (and enjoy) both a near stock Varmint MTR and a full custom Vudoo 360. I'd concur that the Vudoo has the edge in a few ways but not by a factory of 3. It would be interesting to see if the MTR gained that other point if the scopes were swapped.

Thank you!!

These were supposed to release in 2023 and they just became available in the last 2 weeks, limited production of 500 units as well. Two of out of our 7 distributor’s had them … theres only 10 left from one of the largest distributors and in the US. other distributors may have them allocated so they may hold them for their higher volume spending clients. Msrp is 1900 . Currently 34 of them on gun broker, make sure you buy from a user with feedback. If you live in Maine you can come to our shop and we’ll order you one. Or we can ship you one to your ffl

Mirrors what I see at my range - plenty of high tech wealthy folks who can buy the best gear to help level the playing field against more experienced shooters, but in competent hands with the right ammo the difference is negligible out to 200 yards. It’s really at the mercy of the human pulling the trigger and the wind. Beyond 200 yards it does seem that the more expensive rifles tend to show a better return on the investment. Since my range maxes out at 200 and I can hit a penny or clear a KYL at that distance with my 457, that’s good enough for me. If I was competing - especially at longer distances I’d probably make the investment just to take the gear excuse away

True, its likely the hardest target (moa) we shoot at in competition. The real kicker is people think they need a .25" group gun to do it. To hit it everytime you need a rifle that can shoot .48" groups

Shooters love the “it’s the Indian not the arrow” adage but ignore that the bow needs to be good enough to win. Anything past “good enough” is personal preference limited only by budget. The 457 might not give up much in absolute performance-pure static accuracy-but I bet it’s a lot nicer running every course with a heavy gun that has a perfect trigger, ideal weight distribution, and crystal clear glass. Peace of mind is worth the price of admission.

Supposedly the best of the rimfire rifles against a factory rifle with a lesser scope? You proved once again the voodoo is not worth the price. Too bad voodoo is the only simi custom made match rifle we have to choose from! The vodo is only marginally more accurate than the CZ at best. Rifle competition is not unlike most other competition in that money won't buy you a win.

Vudoo is absolutely worth the price once you use one. The mags, the feel of the action, being able to copy your match rifle. CZ’s are nice and to get in “the game” they are great but they are not in the same category. There is more to a rifle besides accuracy. Savages are accurate but they are absolute trash behind that.

A friend owns two Vudoos. One with the Ace barrel. Other with a Bartlein. His 457 Lilja out groups both. My Bergara out groups both of his Vudoos. Heck, I have won two out of the last three matches shooting a 10/22 with a 24" Green Mountain barrel in a Titan stock. The Vudoo, Rim-X and Anschutz shooters don't like me. Vudoo = overpriced rifle.

There it is... No matter what video it is the same commentary inevitably pops up. "My (good enough) rifle outshoots every vudoo west of the Mississippi. I've won (insert arbitrary number) matches with bla bla bla and some golden bullets." Whats your PRS number top shot? 😂
@joed32647 ай бұрын
@@jdodd06 I don't shoot PRS. No match at our range. We have a 22 Sniper Match. Steel targets from 50-200 yds. 10 targets at each distance. 50 yd is like shooting at your finger. 200 yd is 4"x5". I certainly don't need to impress you. Facts are facts. Vudoos are overpriced rifles. My rifles like Eley SABRP.
@jdodd067 ай бұрын
@@joed3264 This reminds me of someone who was very vocal about "vudoos are overpriced" on the rimfire boards and started touting their custom 10/22. It turned into a bashing thread when Mike Bush from Vudoo hopped on and offered to fly out to the guy and shoot head to head at his range to demonstrate the value voodoo brings. The guy backed down rather quickly. Simply saying Vudoos are overpriced is like saying a Nissan GTR is just over priced because my Altima is good enough. When it comes to competition you are limited with CZ's rather it be trigger choices, mag options, chassis etc. compared to a 700 pattern action like a Vudoo. Vudoo dominates a very specific market in the rimfire world being a semi custom factory rifle. You can go production route (like CZ 457) or full custom (rim X etc.) but they are different spaces within the same market. CZ could greatly improve their offerings to compete in the space even with simple changes to barrel profile and length but they seem content with where they are at. You don't happen to own a Savage centerfire do you? I find a similar sentiment with that brand. Savages can be very accurate but have several limitations in heavy/competition use which is why they have near zero representation in the PRS space.
@joed32647 ай бұрын
@@jdodd06 I would love for him to fly me and my Bergara out so he can show me that his Vudoo is so much better. One caveat. I get to pick which Vudoo he shoots. CZ needs a 24" heavy profile barrel. I had an ATOne with the 24" barrel. It is way too small in diameter - .730". The Varmint is .865". I stuck my Varmint in a CZ chassis and added a Harrells tuner.
