The beauty of lo-car, and other project/fun cars in a similar vein, is that you can run them at the edge and not worry about being spending thousands of dollars on repairs when something goes wrong, and that edge is a little closer compared to hi-car which means you're not getting in to fear territory. Kind of like how a 300cc motorcycle is way more fun to rip around on compared to a 1000cc street bike; sure the street bike has way more power and speed, but the edge of performance that's fun to drive at is way lower and safer for the 300cc bike.

There is so much more than turning angle in the geometry that is at work behind that level of front end control. Firstly extending the control arms widens the track, at the same time increasing camber angle. But most importantly the caster angle is set so there is a larger "dead zone" and more a aggresive turn in requiring less steering input. Which reduces the tendency for the car to straighten out or oversteer.

Hi-Low is eventually the best serie ever written by Donut Media. It combines all the stuff & expertise from the other series like Up To Speed, Bumper 2 Bumper, Wheelhouse and Money Pit. Glad to see everyone working together on the project but what I like the most are the other team members who rarely have screen time pop up here and there in the video. Hands down. Much effort has been invested in the project and the video montage.

What we learn today and more people need to know about: A good suspension kit can give you better performance, better times and make your car look good asf, go expensive on a suspension kit and don’t spend a lot in power, that could improve by a lot your car.

I think the 1500$ set-up is for new to drifting, and the 8000$ set-up is for those ones who devoted to drifting and want some sick mad drifts, 1500$ is enough to get those sick drifts... but if you want an upgrade, then just buy transmission upgrades to get high speed

I think Aaron might have just been out when they shot this ep. He’s on a new Motortrend show, and since this season is all about drifting having him around for the whole thing would almost be cheating lol.

I think it's very interesting to see how these cars compare. It seems when you do the big upgrades spending 5k or more extra than a standard kit you have drastically diminishing returns. Which makes sense your trying to squeeze out just a little bit more and it takes alot to do so. All the high car kits are impressive and probably will last much longer than low car parts due to build quality. But it seems in the end if you don't have a huge budget and you want a nice car setup you can get it without breaking the bank. Myself I like fancy parts but low car is very impressive.

13:15 I would be cautious about that gap; aluminum can expand up to 10%, albeit as a liquid; but even a 2% may cause rubbing in the future.

By the time the front suspension liquefies I guess they’re not drifting anymore anyways.
@Matt-vz5wy2 жыл бұрын
By the time the aluminum is hot enough to expand like that, it’s not holding its shape anymore and you have much bigger issues at that point. It’ll be fine.
@oneplumpboi53172 жыл бұрын
@@RustOnWheels Even heat sources such as the tyres or brakes can cause the rims to get hot, especially under tracking conditions. This is why I said even a 1-2% increase in thermal expansion can be dangerous. At track heavy driving; the rims near the hub can get as hot as 500 degrees fahrenheit. And when you account that RIMS DO INDEED FLEX SLIGHTLY, especially whilst drifting, you have a recipe for disaster; or more or less; a recipe for contact.
