This underground river was hiding at the bottom of the 150ft deep pit in the ground. We will definitely be back to explore further in this place

And even then the camera doesn't do it justice. And even then its hard to fathom in person. But the limited time your brain does an accurate job, and that feeling of understanding the prominence of these earthly features is one of the most satisfying feelings you can have.

I'm probably claustrophobic and a bit scared of heights, but this cave checked off all the boxes I'd like to see in a cave: a deep entrance, large galleries, stalagmites and stalactites, cool formations, a subterranean river, and wildlife. Wow.

Gem Mountain, MT is awesome. I pulled over 60 carats of sapphires from there last time, and another 30 of very small sapphires when I took all my tailings home and ran it a second time. I had all of them cut over seas. It was well worth it. There are so many colours and deviations even without heat treatment. I've given a dozen or so away, but am waiting for the right buyer or project to put them into.@@sharonodonnell2147

I can’t handle small places anymore though. Yes, pretty sad, I agree with you, but I have great memories from eh experience. The cave in this video is better than the ones I went to for the most part. I did however see helectites that covered about a. 50 foot area of the ceiling. I guess I'm one of the lonely people here who recognizes that this is likely an aquifer cave that has been so ravaged by drought that it can now be exploited by KZbinrs who are unwittingly documenting the demise of our water systems. Where they see joy and adventure I see environmental catastrophe. "That's sick man...this goes on for miles yo... that's insane..." Yes, it is. We are draining our aquifers like never before. It is my own estimation that if the water were higher, the cave would be filled with water. The soda straws and the stalagtites would not ever be able to be formed as they need the open air in order to form. Drip, drip, drip, As the water evaporates the minerals are then deposited. Formations need open air in order to form. In this here cave, formations occurred way down to the water level. Many things affect the water level in caves. Luray caverns, years ago, discovered that the formations were not dripping any more. The rainfall was normal. Then they realized that for years the bill above the cave was a pasture but now there were many trees growing on this hill thus the trees took all of the groundwater! They cut down most of the small trees and lo and behold the formations began to drip again.

I would love it if you guys could get some nice extended underwater shots 🙏 I love caves and aquatic life, so the overlap presents a pretty unique learning opportunity haha. It makes me wonder how many unknown species are hiding away down there. The orange newts were incredible!

Do you guys ever camp out in the caves with extra supplies? Then carry on the following day? It would be cool to see a live stream too!

What would it take resource wise to send expeditions down these rivers? I noticed you mentioned currents making a hazard returning up stream. Are any of these rivers charted?

I love exploring my back yard. It won't try to kill me. No drowning, getting lost, no methane, no bats and no rescue crew needed.

This is one of the coolest videos I've seen in a long while. Amazing! I have a feeling there's a LOT more to explore in that cave. I'd wager there are entire other LEVELS of the cave to be explored, especially with the number of "shelves" you can see in the vertical shafts. If you ever go back, you should look for other passages leading from the entrance shaft at higher points than the bottom, at the various places you can see a "floor" use to be, that broke through. Does this cave have a name? Do you know if it has been mapped to any extent?
