A quick correction about Charizard: it could actually learn fly in Pokemon Yellow Version, which was still part of Generation 1. So you could trade a Charizard from Red or Blue Version into Yellow Version then teach it Fly and trade it back. Edit: it is possible to find underevolved Pidgeotto in Veridian Forest in Yellow Version, completely legitimately.
