Thank you! We too had a quote from the pumper, and I too am handy around the house. I also began the research, came to the same conclusion as you, and I'll be making these same repairs this week. I appreciate that you shared this, along with your sketches, to reassure me that I can do this. 🙂👍

I broke my cement baffle off before installing tee and put cleanable filter in tee. Also installed risers slightly below ground level so can easily mow over.

Very nice. I would have taken the opportunity to add a filter in your new outlet baffle. I have to clean mine every year or so (plugs up) so it definitely keeps a lot of solids going down to your drain field.

That's a good idea. If I ever have to open up the septic tank again I may just do that. A

I’m doing the same job on mine, did you mortar or concrete around the outlet to seal it?
@AlecPeirceAtTheRanch Жыл бұрын
Concrete but I can't remember the exact brand/mix. Still works great. A

They make filters that fit into these T baffles now, pretty cool. My mother in law has a failing leach field so im trying to keep all that gunk out of her new one im putting in. Her old one is completely full of black bio mat.

They are great when they work but boy they can be a headache if something breaks file the baffle pipe. Good luck keeping her tank in good shape. A

i did the same thing but its a good idea to chisle away that old cement baffle wall i can see yours is at alittle bit too high of a pitch but that wont hurt too too much the more the higher the pitch the more fluids will flow to your D-Box you want your T and baffle to be relatively Level but a "Sanitary T" can help with this "pitch" Achievment i just took a long chisle and a hammer and tapped it a few times and it came loose and fell into the tank my line to my D-Box was completely clogged and i re did it myself and saved myself 10 Grand for what i thought was the leech field INSPECT YOUR TANKS EVERYONE HAVE THEM PUMPED EVERY 4-5 YEARS AND DONT FLUSH CHEMICALS AND CLEANING PRODUCTS DOWN YOUR DRAINS and NO WIPES LOL

My outlet has no opening above it to access it. Top of tank is 4' deep with a riser opening towards middle of tank. I cant even see either of them from looking into tank at riser. Could i cut through top of tank for a access pt above outlet?
@AlecPeirceAtTheRanch10 ай бұрын
All commercial tanks have to have an access opening. Have you scrapped all the top soil off it all the way around? There is no problem cutting an opening but figure out how you're going to replace/patch the hole. There are lots of info on Google and KZbin so keep searching for a solution and good luck. A

Yea just one opening where riser is towards middle of tank. 1959 was done differently. Lol. No opening near outlet to put a T in. Yea, im not sure how i could cover it back up if i cut access hole to reach inside of outlet.
@db0nn3r8 ай бұрын
@@Jaydawg5422 Cut a square opening with a grinder, each side of the square cut at a sharp angle so the square piece you cut out rests back onto the angle of the opening you cut. It won't be able to fall back through this way. then you can mortar it back shut as well or leave it as a permanent access hole.
@Jaydawg54228 ай бұрын
@db0nn3r i thought briefly about that! Good idea. If it works. See jow good my grinding skills are

good video, i think my drain field pipe may be covered in slime, seems all my water goes to the end and floods out there, septic guy said he could fix it for about 10 grand, ha! looking at flushing the drain field pipe option...oh well, life in the country...
@AlecPeirceAtTheRanch2 жыл бұрын
So true Henry. Contractors should learn we country bumpkins do know how to fix ANYTHING. May not always be perfect, but it will work. Thanks for watching. A.
@mar1video Жыл бұрын
Henry - locate the distribution box for the leach field and try to clean it / flush it yourself. Then do a septic field (leach field) treatment and should work just fine. It should cost you about $600 , not $10k. 😉 Good luck with your project.
