Hi Julie, thank you for your video. Just wanted to share with you, while watching you pour the chess set, my husband walked into the room and became very interested in what you were doing, well, to cut a long story short, he was so impressed with what you made he went and ordered the same set for me. I’ll be watching your video again and again to get all the tips you shared with us to help make sure I get it right. Thanks once again. Take care, from a UK subscriber.

Beautiful!! The extra work and effort you put into pouring in three different sections really made for one gorgeous peice
@funo65812 жыл бұрын
Wow! Just beautiful! The detail with the gold pen just stands out and gives it such a great finishing touch. I love the gold leaf.. I also love your longer videos!😊 When you use alcohol to help get them out, try pulling the mold out and away from the piece and spray in a few places all around, then gently twist the mold back and forth to disperse the alcohol. That might work better for you. Great work Julie!❤
@Gems-of-Hope-Rocks2 жыл бұрын
I thought the spray of alcohol was supposed to be on the mold before adding the resin?
@funo65812 жыл бұрын
@@Gems-of-Hope-Rocks Yes you’re right, you can use alcohol to break the surface tension between the mold and the resin. If you mist the mold with alcohol right before pouring the resin, it will help to release bubbles. But, what I was referring to was using alcohol as a lubricant to help free the piece from a deeper mold after the resin has set. When you have a deep mold like those Chess pieces, they can be difficult to get out of the mold. A few drops of silicone oil will work too.😊

I love your videos. I did this chest set and I brought two sets of the chest pieces so I didn't have to wait to do the second set. I had 4 pieces that the ball broke. Thought I could glue them back on but if you do they are shorter than the other ones so I had to repour. If your going to keep the set for yourself than they will be fine. If you really look closely to the one that was repaired it is shorter. But the set is gorgeous. I learned alot. I found it easy to demold by pushing the pieces from the topof the piece while pulling the mold down. Happy crafting.😊

I'm almost finished my chess board I need to just do a topcoat on the board itself, I used mica powder for the squares, I ran out of resin lol so ill have it finished at the weekend. Oh Julie this is beautiful .. I'm still very much a novice at all things resin and can't wait till the 2 moulds I ordered from your come but as I'm in Scotland they won't be here until October if it wasn't so expensive for the shipping I would have probably went overboard so it's just as well 🤣I love the look of so many of your moulds they are so different to what everyone else has out there. There are a lot of us that like to watch EVERY part of your videos heck I watch and rematch your videos especially when I'm trying new things it's very reassuring and thank you I'd eventually like to make a chess set it Black and purple with purple glitter in the black and black glitter in the purple 💜 ♟️

Freaky I’ve JUST ordered this exact same set to make for a gift to my son, he loves chess but rarely plays it so hoping it’s a good gift. I’m going to do mine a bit different as I don’t think he’ll like the bling. So freaky I ordered this, 10 minutes later I turn on my new video of pouring your heart out and there it is. Timed it perfectly, love the gold around the edges of the squares, I’d not have done that. Thanks Julie. 💕

I have been making these boards for a while- I started off just like what you are doing with the pen but I found that if I don't fill the squares but a slight bit under the lines, let that cure nice and hard, then put a lighter color (ideally white) as the finishing layer and let that set for a good month (yes it takes about that long to totally harden if you used the resin designed to be sturdy which i recommend) After that month I then can take resin colored in my line color, (after demolding of course!) and slowly pour or brush into the cracks, wiping as I go it will give a lovely line and it will also add to the strength of the board. I had found that if accidentally dropped, a board made like you showed will break at the squares versus when i pour the lines later. I also recommend that the board be on a completely level place while curing!! it will warp extremely easy in temperature changes even by a few degrees if not flat! also another tip for the pieces- after the resin has cured and you have that slight dip in the bottom, you can slowly add uv resin until the bottom is flat but filled. I like to add a disk of felt when finishing them off . I have 12 board molds and 2 sets of piece molds per board I work with so that I can keep up with the demand of the chess sets. Hubby had came up with a wooden design that the boards get placed in and it has drawers for each set of pieces and another set of drawers for matching checkers, so there are 4 drawers total and they work well. It's one of my biggest sellers!

I actually didn't think of looking up videos of people who may have video taped them working with this mold! Duh moment I guess! LOL I bought this set last year and it is a bit intimidating to try as I am new to working with resin even though I have had resin in the home for 4 years! LOL I have made a few items but nothing like this. I watched every little mm of your video not wanting to miss anything! I was really looking forward to the unmolding. I also have the 1/2 set which I don't like. Trying to get the pieces to match up and then having to glue them is a royal pain! That's why I bought this set. The other thing I was worried about is the molds standing up on their own. It's good to see that they do but I think I will place them in a square container to make sure they don't fall over. Just in case. Thank you for such a wonderful and enjoyable video! These turned out so beautifully!

Yeah a nice top coat would make it perfect like you mentioned. Also if you made it as a functional piece instead of a show peice, felt pads can be glued onto the bottom of the peices to stop any scratches on the board surface.

That is absolutely amazing! So beautiful! I love the clear with the gold leaf on the bottom of the chess pieces and along the edges! I'm glad the little pawn was fixable. I have a candle mold that is similar to the King and Queen. It's very difficult to unmold. I was just thinking of you got one of those little bottles with the fine tip needle on the end and put the alcohol in it then it would be easier to get it down into the mold to make it easier to demold.

These moulds are really cool. I think for sure you don’t need to do the gold inking .It makes no difference as it’s on the bottom,so one job less.But it’s a really great idea,you can do personalised colours too ,like pinks and limes,or aqua and lime. You could do a board with like just white then the other clear so you can tell the difference and use silver one one sine and gold on the other ..All sorts of ideas. .I wish I had dexterity in my hands !but instead I watch you lol..Love n Light 🥰
