I am using tinsel and glitter and creating a festive snowflake board.

We had to double the magnets on some glass pieces before they would stay on the glass calendar. Glass over metal intended for magnets.

I think I have bought just about every single mold that Let's Resin has to offer! I love their alcohol inks, micas, pigments, glitters, 2 part Resins and I use their UV Resin exclusively… I love their stuff!!! Their chess pieces are nice, but man are they a pain in the arse to de mold! But I found that if Inused just a little bit of dish soap, they pop right out and turn out beautiful!

This is the most beautiful set I’ve seen, believe me I’ve been searching and watching. Spraying a mold with isopropanol before pouring resin in the mold you will reduce bubbles before hand if not every bubble 😉👌❤️🫶👌also demold in warm soapy water. Trust me it's makes things easier by far so better than isopropanol and cheaper 😉😉😉😉👌

@@Toonpish no no I'm no expert I just love making them especially with the grandkids.. yes I gave several as presents .. love to show you some of the things I've made in the past years. Too bad I didn't think to take pictures 25 years ago when I started I don't have those anymore 😔 😕 my ex of 20 years may he rest in peace, when we broke up he didn't give me any of the Christmas decorations nor the ones I made or the ones my Mother gave me let me tell you she was 😡 Thanks for answering so quickly ☺️

Amazing & Beautiful Wendy!! Oh boyee you have the patience of a saint. I haven’t bought a chess set bc the commitment is phenomenal to me. I know it’s worth it but I also know I’ll put it aside 1/3 way thru 😂. It’s a lost art/game/strategy that we should be teaching our kids. Love this! Even with the hiccups. But learning as you go is always the best teacher. I've learned if you want more opacity with your glitter is to add a little mica powder in with it so it doesn't take away from the shine of the glitter. Also, with black glitter, to make it shine under epoxy you almost always need to add a little silver glitter to it, or use holographic.

@@Toonpish I do epoxy tumblers and it confounded me as to why my black glitter didn't look as pretty under epoxy as it did in the bottle lol it was lots of research and asking questions. I used to hate glitter and now I want to put it on everything. A lint roller or a desk top vacuum help with the glitter mess, baby wipes too.

It's gorgeous! The way the tinsel reflects through the clear resin is amazing, the sparkle and the board all come together so well. I haven't played chess in ages, no one I know can play and the friends I used to play with aren't interested anymore.

My wife and I are just trying our first resin kit out tonight! Simple coaster and stand set to see how the process goes. But I can not WAIT to do the Chess Set. I love Chess, and I am very excited to make my own set (again...I did randomly sculpt and entire set out of modeling clay, which I fired in my counter-top pizza oven, in my college dorm in like 2004 lol)! I use liquid dish washing soap to get those pieces out! They pop right out if you use a little bit of soap!

Beautiful! My thought is to put a thin sheet of metal in the board between layers of resin instead of the magnets. Then put magnets only in the chess pieces or checkers. Then you don’t have to worry about getting the polarity correct. Mind you, I haven’t actually tried this yet. Just ordered the let’s resin chess set. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!

Hi Wendy, I have exactly the same chess set. I’ve made two sets.I found the board easy to do, however, making the chess pieces was a nightmare for me. No Matter how I tried I had bubbles in the moulds, some of the pieces even broke when I tried to de mould. As for getting them out the moulds this was rather a struggle. (I squeezed my moulds like crazy, still a few problems) Anyway, I persevered and won. So have two lovely chess sets. Have fun. Thank you for sharing all your lovely ideas. Blessings.

I think if you used UV resin to attach the magnet to the pieces it would attach to the magnet on the board better.

Really gorgeous colours. The red tinsel is really rich looking but my favourite is the iridescent tinsel and glitter ones . love the snowflakes in there as well. Amazing x

I'm feeling dumber than Dumbo right now! Cutting those tinsel strips...duh! I've been making light bulbs for my grandkids for Christmas. Without cutting the strips off first. Which has led me to problems that were so easily avoided... 😖. This set is beyond gorgeous! I've used those tiny little magnets that nail technicians use for closing clamshells. They actually are as strong as the strongest ones I bought last year. And they're only about 1/16". You might want to try those if you are doing another project that calls for magnets. Their tiny size and super strength work well if you want to hide them. (I don't know if I told you, but my 9 year old granddaughter underwent surgery for the massive tumor in her abdomen last week. STRESS! But it all worked out better than expected. She's home already and doing well. The tumors have been non-alignment, which is a blessing. Even though they were about the largest the surgeons had ever seen. Thanksgiving here will truly be thankful! 😁) Even though I know you don't have a Thanksgiving there across the pond. ❤️

Honey I’m so glad your granddaughter is recovering well. Children do recover so quickly but that must have been a hard week to cope with. I’m sure the tinsel cutting will change your pieces for the better 😂😂 Happy crafting Have happy thanksgiving ❤️

@@Toonpish The surgery took two surgeons. For a few days...she couldn't eat anything for over a week and just when it started to get drastic...feeding tube into heart. Yes, heart. She just turned around overnight. It was a pure miracle. Even though kids do heal quickly, she was an exception that even surprised all there. They had expected her to be in the hospital for another week, at least. 🙏! Keep up the ideas. I look forward to seeing what you are up to next! ❤️
