That was a masterful repair on that ribbon connector, superb job. Nice to see something different on the channel.

I'm used to PS5 on your channel so when I see something different I like it too. Good repair since I haven't seen anyone put "pad strips" over an FFC and I thought that plastic material wouldn't withstand the heat of the soldering tip. Thank you very much for sharing sir. All the best.
@ToltecMerc4 ай бұрын
Thank you! It's true, I normally work on PS5s but occasionally something else catches my interest. I was using a tiny pico pencil iron. Also, the reinforced end of the cable seems a bit tougher than the middle.
@CarlosGarcia-d3e4 ай бұрын
@@ToltecMerc Understood. Thank you very much for answering me Sir. I have a 30W soldering pencil (cheap) that I rarely use so I covered the metal soldering cap and tip with black electrical tape and stored it in a zipper bag. Thanks to your advice (tip) I will dare to experiment with some similar brown FFC donors although I must find it first. Thank you again, Maestro (it's a pleasure to imagine you at an electronics technical high school in your area). All the best. PS: teacher, professor, instructor are common terms here, but in Mexico we call Maestro someone who changes the way of thinking with their teaching to improve people's lives.

Another workaround with the backlight flex is to trim the wings from the end and slightly shorten the burned end. you can even remove some of the plastic insulation from the cable if required.
@ToltecMerc4 ай бұрын
I have done that also. Trimmed the length of the cable. I wanted to try something different.

Nice work! Those ones piss me off to .. lol. I have been fairly successful with them though. Like how you fixed that ribbon. Those little strips come in handy from time to time!
@ToltecMerc4 ай бұрын
Thank you! I need to get a better variety of those strips. All the strips on the one I had were too small so I had to use the letter "I".
@Foxx_694 ай бұрын
Haha i saw that! and It fit perfect! I had a couple different packages of those.. really hard to tell size when your ordering off aliexpress. I have a roll of that copper tape for custom stuff, but i hate it. It has the sticky back that is another thing tomdeal with when applied. In a pinch. Its ok. Strips are better

I watched a video the other day where you repaired a PS5 by replacing the SB. What kind of preheater were you using?

Hello, I would like to ask a question about ps5 repair. Even if I remove IC DA9081 from the PCB and remove the capacitor around it, IC 13-pin and 27-pin ground shorts occur. Request for help. dowajuseyo, jebal
@jurgenkruger39324 ай бұрын
Exchange the connector, then all is fine. Cut the FPC by 2mm, cut the "ears" a bit, and it will fit back into the new socket. All done.
@ToltecMerc4 ай бұрын
I have trimmed the cables before but I don't have any of these connectors. Probably available on AliExpress.

They are so cheaply made and so easy to tear the cables and break the connectors on them. I hate them, only repairs I like doing on them are replacing, fan, thermal paste or battery.
