Technically there is historical precedence in using 155s for close in support for urban combat. During the push into Aachen, the US used 155mm M12s in direct fire to blast through the brick and mortar buildings and fortifications in the city. The M12 earned its nickname "Doorknocker" thanks to the 155mm cannon's ability to pierce seven feet of concrete at ranges up to 2,000 yards.

Everytime I’ve seen Bo talking about the 155 I’ve always been reminded of what I’ve heard about this! From what I recall they used the self propelled version, not the towed one, but they were unexpectedly effective.
