+Adam Barraclough LOL. Never thought of it that way. Dad & I have such a great communication "thing". We normally think exactly the same. When we do these videos dad always tries to look at what I'm doing through a brand new persons eyes. It works well because it brings up questions and then we discuss it. When he's in front of the camera I try to do the same. Then if we get a chance to throw each other "under the bus" that's just a bonus, lol.

Eric that is a great looking sign. I liked the full video and was glad it was not time lapsed. You amaze me how you get all your lines so straight, and you do it so fast as well. I liked the film process you used here. This was very informative to me and re-assuring as to what I am doing. I seem to have so many white tips after sanding, which on your sign it appears that you only had one or two. If I was doing this sign I probably would have to use up 4 markers to get all the white tips cleaned up !! I'm thinking I am not running my clean up as concentrated as you are doing, which may help with my problem.

Good Morning Eric, great sign, it is another one of you masterpieces. Would you recommend the use a plunge router to make signs or could I use a trim router

+Pedro Maciel Hi Pedro, I know some sign carvers that like the plunge router fr carving signs. I don't. For me they're just too big & bulky. I like the smaller fixed based routers. You could probably use a trim router. May have to put handles on it tho. Hope this helps. Thank you for the compliments and for watching, Eric

Watched it start to finish, Great Job. I wish I were as comfortable and accurate with the router but that's what all the practice is about. I noticed a bit of hand cramping, just like I get. That kinda makes me feel better knowing that it happens to all of us. Do you always do the border first. I make the sign then cut to size and add the scallop or whatever. Again Great Job!

+Roger Woods Yea the hands do cramp a little. I probably grip the handles too hard. Always a little added pressure when the camera is rolling, lol. Yes normally I'd like to have the edging all done before I start the carving. Thank you for watching Roger.

love the sign just a suggestion use some large wire nuts to place under your sign when you turn it over it really works well.

+Mike Hubbard Thank you Mike for the compliments. Most of the time I will lightly sand before the final coat. That normally gives it a real nice smooth gloss.

You probably covered this in one of your other videos.... What type of abrasive wheel did you use in the grinder to create the detail on the edges?

+pbj417 I just used the one that came with the grinder. There's no real definition on it that tells me what grit or what it's for. I think just about any wheel for metal or I've even used 1 for concrete / masonry. They both worked fine.

Does primer prevent it from embedding deeply into the grain? On my first sign (Cypress) the paint absorbed badly, but after I sanded it left a cool effect... I may need to hand paint my rough routered out areas instead of spray and sand it off?

Great job, was great seeing a big sign done from start to finish. Question: On the letter M, is the wider part of the M supposed to be to the front or the rear. Seems like the other parts of the letters the wider part is to the front. Or doesn't it matter?

+James Nehl Good question James. I had to go back & check it out myself. Yes the same rules don't always apply. On this font, Garamond, on the "M" the wider leg is at the back or right side. Where as on the "W" it's the opposite. Thank you for the question, Eric
