Super green “crystal” is the next step up from just simple green. They used that when I was in motorcycle tech school. Where to find it I’m not sure. We had A cleaner that would stay on for like four hours so yes it does take but of time for it to work everything off but it works!! Especially well a carburetor and not have to worry about harsh chemicals in any O-rings or gasket swelling up if u missed some. As always thanks for makeing the videos. I’m waiting on more splicing for x rings going to make my own but wanna see home u do yours. U always “Bring something to the table”

Hey man greatly appreciate the input thanks for watching, I was actually gonna do a splice video but this came in the mail. I promise I will get an ultra sling single ring video out very soon, probably next video. Very easy to splice. Who knows I may have time early next week depends how busy we get, Stay safe. 👊

Very cool man never thought of using one of those for cleaning saw part👊🏽 Taking away all that carbon buildup is going to rob the height compression properties of the cylinder lol 😁
@PoplarMechanic

Haha yupp it may have slightly less compression, anyway normally I wouldn't worry about a little carbon but I thought it would be a challenging test, I found out now there is a type for aluminum. Thanks for watching brotha stay safe 👊

For your carbon build up use FUME FREE OVEN CLEANER in the blue can and leave it on overnight. It works great 👍 Also works great on soap scum in bathtub or showers fiberglass or steel tubs.use a green scotch brite pad.

You might try the Simple Green at a lower temperature. I have read that heating Simple Green to 113-140 °F (45-60 °C) works well. There are temperatures that maximize the effect of heat and cavitation. Above that temperature there is less cavitation.

@@PoplarMechanic Give us an update if you experiment with lower temperatures. if you look up cavitation you will see there are very small bubble that build up and when they collapse they generate pressures of up to 2000atm and temperatures of up to 5000 Kelvin (Temperature of the Sun). If you look up "sonoluminescence" you will find that the energy actually emits lights and they were able to photograph it.

Dude Simple Green is the best. When I was in the Army we would clean the engines of out Bradly tactical fighting vehicles with that stuff as well as pretty much everything else lol. We would just spray a bunch of that stuff on the engine and let it sit for a bit. By the time we’d spray that stuff down the engine would be clean of all grime. It’s the only cleaner I will use these days. I can say with certainty that carbon has no chance if you leave it in there for a bit longer. Wasn’t authorized to do this but I would soak the bolt from my machine gun in simple green and the carbon buildup would literally just wipe away with a little gun oil (CLP) on a rag. Stuff isn’t harmful either seen a guy take a shot of the stuff after a dare.

Is that simple green the aluminum safe kind? I know some of that stuff will eat away at aluminum. I just use dawn soap and water. Occasionally will use a little cleaner too. Heat really helps. Cleaning dirty cylinders takes quite a long time. Cleaned some cases in mine and it took a few hours. I get really lazy and let the ultra sonic do all the work lol. Some times I could easy blow it off..
@PoplarMechanic
@PoplarMechanic 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if its aluminum safe, it doesnt seem to cuase damage. There are small pits where the carbon was but I think it's just like that. I'm gonna try some other parts with dawn. Thanks for the input I want to be lazy to lol.
@yotaismygame
@yotaismygame 4 жыл бұрын
Poplar Mechanic I had to look it up. The original green kind is corrosive to aluminum. I never see pitting on any parts I clean so that must be the simple green. I bet the ratio plays a big role. They make a simple green that’s aluminum safe. On cylinders it’s probably not really an issue though. More cosmetic.

I found it the extreme simple green for aircraft, but really I'm not to worried about cleaning beyond this point, I'll probably just use dish soap, a good test and learning experience. I just want to clean stuff now lol.
@yotaismygame

Poplar Mechanic more of an issue with carbs more than anything. Little pitting on a cylinder won’t matter. I’ve also used Oil Eater and it worked well. But I use mine so often I have to change the water frequently which is where dawn soap makes more sense and seems to get the job done. I’ll let parts soak too if they need it.
