I've been using a small one for bicycle and small engine parts for some time now. I have different cleaning solutions in 400gm coffee jars for different applications. This keeps the fluid in the main tank clean. When the liquids in the jars get grotty I filter the solutions through coffee filters for extended use with little to dispose.

Got a few ultrasonic vevors . Had them a couple years now for a vintage tractor restore Im doing. Fantastic! I just bought a vevor mobile spray booth, $65! Great range of gear. Pro tip. Get the biggest one. You can do small jobs in small glass containers, the ultrasonic wave goes throught it more effective than plastic containers. Pro tip 2. When doing that, use distilled water for the large body of fluid. No rust. Pro tip 3. Vevor make the best 3lt distiller on the market. Fkn handy as! Glad you finally caught up John. 👍

Have one and love it. When cleaning small stuff put the item in a glass jar or other container with cleaner and fill the ultrasonic cleaner with regular water that way you don't have to clean the whole machine for a tiny chainsaw carburetor or a fuel injector. Gasoline works the best as far i have seen. Also don't run the ultrasonic cleaner half filled with water, always to the fill line, it'll burn out.

Vevor also have jewellery tumblers that come in handy for prepping small parts like screws and bolts for nickel plating. With mixed stainless pellets and water I add a hand full of clean sand and half a teaspoon of tetrasodium pyrophosphate. Parts will have a satin/glass bead blast finish to them ready for plating.

I’ve had mine for a couple of years, bought the 2 liter model and will probably buy a 4 liter sometime in the future. For smaller parts, I put the part and the cleaner in a glass jar and fill around it with clean water. Saves on cleaning solution and the Basket and tub stay clean. Wheel bearings, jewelry, carb parts, corroded plumbing, misting nozzles all come out like new. Glass seems to work better than plastic jars. Kerosene, diesel, or vinegar(not at the same time) are my favorite cleaning agents. Occasionally a diluted muriatic acid solution on rusted parts with a vinegar rinse afterwards. Mine has paid for itself in saved parts. Except with vinegar, I don’t use the heat. Probably takes longer but I don’t trust Chinese controls with possible overheating and flammable solutions

There’s an episode of Malcom in The Middle. The old man has a tree mulcher. Doing the garden, he is. Kids basket ball bounces in. Instant shred. Anyway next thing you know the three boys and the dad are lobbing everything into it and having a laugh. That’s how I imagine John has gone with these ultrasonic cleaners. He’s going all over the house looking for stuff to clean. His jocks. In they go. The cat. In it goes. A banana, just for laughs. In it goes.

To achieve maximum ultrasonic energy use only with warm water and chemical in the recommended dosage, energy is lost in cold water. Don't forget to degas the water first! The heating pads on the outside of the tank (housed internally) are not designed for heating the water up, they are to simply keep the water close to the set temperature. The components fixed to the tank that distribute the ultrasonic energy are known as transducers, the ultrasonic generator is actually an electronic card. Whatever you do! Don't power up the ultrasonic bath without water in it, as it will create a fire risk or at very least dis-colour the inside of the bath. As usual John good Job! I don't mean to sound like a smart ass, I just worked with these in the medical industry for many years. Cheers!

In the early 1970's I was an apprentice horologist (watch maker) we used a toluene based degreaser in the ultrasonic cleaner machine, this was a swiss made machine which at that time cost around four hundred pounds. It was so powerful that on one occasion I put some clock parts in it and went for lunch forgetting to turn it off, when I got back an hour later the ultrasonic machine and degreaser had eaten holes right through some of the brass gears.

Shame I can’t post pics. They are miracle workers on brake callipers. To reduce fluid use and to use nasty chemicals I use only water and then a ziplock bag for the parts with stronger solvents in the bag. Plastic jars also are good. Glass is better at transmitting the vibrations but glass can break. The toothbrush is not redundant though as the more caked a part is the easier it is if you remove what you can first. And for that electric toothbrush is the go.

It’s safer way of using petrol etc. a bath full of petrol is major hazard but in a bag vapour is controlled so risk is reduced. Carbs love petrol for cleaning. The electric toothbrush is a great little tool. I’d love to get a head with some wire instead of a brush head but no doubt some muppet would use it on their teeth and then sue someone.

I purchased my first commercial ultrasonic cleaner in 1999. It was 400L capacity and cost over $30k. Back then i had to develop our own chemistry for it which is still available today. The main key factors for performance are the temperature and frequency used but if these machines are a reasonable price i would like to try one to see how they stack up to commercial machine's.

Yes. I also use it with Evaporust. It works great there. At 35 c and the 30 minute time it gets all of the rust off everything. If the rust is ready deep in spots, I turn it on for another 15 minutes and that’s it. Normally, Evaporust takes 24 to 48 hours, so this is a great way to do it NOW, not the next day or two. Some advice. If there’s a lot of dirt, grease and other crap as well as rust, clean off the grease and junk in the ultra sonic with cleaner first, then, after rinsing out the cleaner, use Evaporust. I never use acid based cleaners for rust. I don’t know why people do that other than it’s cheaper than Evaporust. But acid will dissolve the good metal as well as the rust. So you’ll ruin any precision surfaces. Evaporust tend to not affect any unrusted areas. Particularly with the short times these ultrasonic cleaners work in.

Looks like no shipping to the US for these, but I've been threatening to get an ultrasonic cleaner for a while now. Don't want to get burned with some Chinesium though. BTW, just a heads up on the WD-40. I learned by experience that it actually does a good job of removing any oils from tools, then all evaporating away, leaving me with rusty tools! It's ok for the short term, but not for the long term. Now I wipe stuff down with an oily rag to protect from rust.

I have a 3 litre version, wishing I had a 30 litre version, currently rebuilding a 235,000 klm ls1 v8, low speed , town car, never fanged, and valvoline oil, lots of carbon and gunk. Pistons and there ring groves carboned up, two pistons at a time two 30 minute session, super cheap auto concentrate degreaser, came out like brand new and didn’t need the ring grove cleaner I had purchased. Lifters, pushrods, valves, con rods, all the bolts. This worked better than my caustic and cold bath acids ever did back when I owned my engine reconditioning shop, while cleaning the block, crank and cam, I just let the ultrasonic bath do it’s thing. Cleaning fuel injectors with two eBay injector pulsed units and some injector cleaner, they also came out like brand new and now have the perfect spray pattern. So many different applications , cleaning up your tools. Electronic circuit boards and switches. Love my unit, now to buy a bigger one , 10 litres maybe

I opened it up and there are 3 identical circuit boards that each drive 2 transducers. Two of the boards had a blown 5 amp slo blow fuse on them. I ordered a big box of them from China for $10 and I'll just treat them as consumables and solder them on as needed.

EDIT: To save reading (TL/DR) I bought the 15 litre... I'm revisiting this video (and a few other reviews) because I'm in a position to buy one now, and I'm trying to figure out a tank size that would suit me. I measured the biggest thing that I currently have that would benefit from this type of cleaning, an 80-year-old deep-blade cane knife. To fully submerge it I'd need the 30-litre, but I could get away with a 15-litre because the blade is just under 40cm long, and about 15cm at its deepest section. Given that's probably the largest thing I'd want to clean, I will probably go for the 15-litre. Most of the other stuff I want to clean for myself is spanners and sockets that were my father's in the 70s. I could also branch out and offer an injector cleaning service maybe.

I heard somewhere that you can fill the tub with water ant put the parts in a zip bag with the cleaner in it to save on cleaning fluid. I dont have a US cleaner though so I can't test that hypothesis.

Ok you took that up. note to self, watch the whole video. You can put small parts like jets etc in a tea strainer of some description to so long as you are filling the machine with working fluid anyway.

Avoid MEK as a cleaner. Other materials work just as well. I used to work on an epoxy making plant. MEK is prime components of PVC glue.

The trouble with the ultrasonic is the solution. Finding a solution that doesn’t damage aluminium/zinc is rather difficult add to that some remove paint and also most detergent based degreasers will cause rust in immersion. So really you need dedicated ultrasonic fluid like simple green aviation but they are expensive.

Mate I've been looking at these on their site, and I can't tell the difference between their models. There's this blue version, then there's a black version too. Then there's also a version that has knobs instead of buttons. However, they all have very similar specs. As far as I can tell from the spec sheet it's just the slightly different heating wattage, but maybe you know something I don't?

John, would a ziplock plastic bag withstand the ultrasonic energy? I understand that one way of testing the effectiveness of ultrasonic cleaners is seeing if it’ll punch holes in aluminium foil. Granted, aluminium foil is a lot thinner than a plastic bag.
