15mm Viking Army

This is a 15 mm representation of the vast and varied Viking armies of the late first century and into the second period from around 750 A.D. to 1280 AD.
The figures used to build the army are from six different companies and assembled over the last 10 years. It is a generic Viking army that can be used for Viking raids or large army confrontations.

Hello Kevin. You have made the best of your modest “studio” set-up to create an excellent video for the rest of us to enjoy. I’m a sucker for an intriguing name and here’s one from the era in question - “the Morrigan”. The description gives an insight into the Scandinavian/North European world. The Morrigan was the shape-shifting Celtic Goddess of War, Fate and Death. She presided over rivers, night, magic, prophecy, priestesses and witches; often depicted as a triune (3 in one) deity. Her role in Celtic legend is similar to that of the Valkyrie in Norse folklore.

John my buddy and I did a Stamford bridge game. It was sooo much fun. The best part of it was the dual on the bridge where I decapitated the viking dog. I won my first game in a year 😂😂😂😂

Hi Andrew. Well on this one and the saxons I bought an army of 150 figures each. Had to touch them up a wee bit but that I morphed into this one. I painted these two over time. Probably the last 8 years. Added about 150 figures this past month. I paint fast and learned some techniques from really good painters and then kinda developed my own speed. I’m very organized and somewhat driven. I don’t have any unpainted lead laying around at all. I paint what I buy. I found that if I stay focused and don’t get sidetracked I can get it done. Sidetracked like watching Waterloo movie while painting a viking one. 😉😂😂😂. We as gamers get pulled in many directions because we love history and the hobby. When painting Vikings I watched the Netflix show the last kingdom. It helped 😋. thanks for your kind words.

@@thekrausecollection15mmmin53 LOL Kevin...I am the opposite with respect to painting what I buy before purchasing more lead. I think for every one I paint I buy 10 more. Now I think I have 5,000-6,000 mini to paint. I got sidetracked this year to painting a Nikephorian Byzantine army for Art de la Guerre and now will be doing a Successor army. Would it be possible to share closeups of your Successors so as to use as a reference? Thanks, Andrew

Kevin very nice, contrary to what you have said - the paint job looks pretty good to me 👍 Thanks for sharing it, I have plastic boxes full of 15mm figures (unpainted) inc Vikings - Bauda Viking tent is quite nice (check it out - would look gr8 for your army) Started on my Romans after looking at your Romans. I need to pick up the Osprey on the siege; There's an article way back in Wargames Illustrated 41 that gives some background and maps including Charles the Bald's relief force counter-attacking outside the walls

I couldn’t pick either. The Norman’s I put up earlier. The three are nice. I also did a Scottish and Irish Allie’s army dark ages. Also really fierce looking. I’ll make a movie on that next.
