As a veteran and deployed to Afghanistan 2 times as an infantryman I feel every bit of this. Best podcast I’ve ever heard.

This is the best podcast I've ever listened to. I'm an over the road trucker and I've listened between the Dale Jr. download and numerous other ones. Ever since I've listened to this podcast, it has changed my life and the way I think of things. I get up in the morning, make my coffee and before I start driving, I put this podcast on and enjoy my day. I've laughed and learned a lot. The biggest thing I've really taken into consideration is that I don't have problems, I just have more work. I have a fiance at home and she tells me what's going on and I push myself harder to get more miles for the week so i can take care of her and make sure everything's taken care of even if I have to stay away from home for about 2 months to make sure it gets done. I love the positivity y'all put out and the things y'all do for us HWMF's. Thank you

Another GREAT one!!! What a humbling statement. "...somebody has been through it and worse and they found a way to get through the adversity... somebody has had it worse, or worse things happen to them..." Statements like this make you realize things are not that bad at all.

I was active duty Marines from 2003-2007, I did 2 tours in Iraq of 9 months each, 4 duty stations, and a fuck ton of training in between. The classes he is talking about are so rushed when you get back. NOBODY pays attention really, they just want to go spend time with family and friends. I had a different experience in Iraq lol it was more like his Afghanistan experience. Al-Asad was the nicest place I got to see in Iraq, best food and all. However one of my closest friends was killed near Al-Asad with a pressure plate IED. Fallujah was a daily firefight waiting to happen. It is weird looking back and knowing at some point you do get to that "fuck it, whatever happens, happens" mindset. This has been the best podcast to date for sure IMO.

The reason why the Army has/had longer deployments is b/c they are the enduring force. Meaning the start of stabilization, stabilize, finish stabilization. The Marines are a force in readiness. Go in and handle business and get out. Love the podcast Semper Fi

I was in the army and I also was a mortarman. I think the reason the army has longer deployments is because we have a larger force. So while our deployment is longer, our rotations are spaced out farther, the Marines have a shorter deployment but their rotations come around faster.

Hope this isn’t a stupid question but can’t they drive remote control cars over the IEDs ? Or throw metal or steel heavy roll metal poles so they set them off ? It’s if u step On it so most likely pressure sets it off and then drive a drone on top of it cuz he said he could see them and he said he should have paid attention in cali to the IED class and he would have never stepped on it ….. idk I can think of many ways you could set them off with out losing a limb or your life or team mates life either …..
