The important thing is that you like it. I'm one of the guys who doesn't love the blue background because I think it looks too much like a pool wall, but we'll see how it looks when it will have algae on it.

Blue background is perfect for this tank. Fish always show better with blue, that why fish stores and aquariums use it. Black hides algee better. I would add pebbles to the areas where the sand has been washed away. It will help it look more natural.

When you were talking about doing new things building this tank you were abundantly confident that it would work and wouldn't leak... You've never talked about anyone teaching you how to do this so I'm guessing you figured it all out on your own. Did you ever have a tank building disaster? Leaks? Blowouts? Anubias suction cupped to the back looks great great too. You could use the super glue or small zip ties with the clear suction cups that have the holes in them. I would get a kick out of it if you give that a try. It looks great put on the back of larger tanks. Think about Joey.😁

Congo tetras are beautiful, I’d pair them with a smaller tetra as well, possibly some scissor tails or rummy nose, if the geophagus won’t eat them lol… also love the idea of using bio blocks to secure the Java ferns, they should thrive in there with a good base to grow on and co2 to feed them

It's your aquarium so you do you, do Congo tetras if you want, love them as a fish but continent mixing grinds on me, personally if they are available i'd go with Empire tetras (Nematobrycon palmeri) there some varieties like Wild, Blue, Purple, Black. Maybe get some Butterfly rams (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi) to hang out amongst the wood and rocks cracks, maybe some Twig whiptail catfish (Farlowella acus).

The tank looks great! I have a suggestion for a schooling fish; the Rummy Nose Tetra (Hemigrammus rhodostomus)! In my experience, the best schooling freshwater fish for their size. Maybe get 300 of those and add a somewhat bigger tetra with it? I think that would be awesome! 😄

I wasn't so sure about the blue, but when you mentioned how the angels would've looked washed out, I remembered back when I had my angelfish. At first I had them with a blue background in my 55 gal cause I wanted a change up. Eventually I didn't like how it stood out so I changed it to black to match with my other tanks. But I distinctly remember the anglefish loosing their bright colors and patterns. It didn't bother me cause I had grown attached to their personalities, but they did look way better with a blue background.

Hey Joey! It looks amazing. One other thing I was thinking is getting the valesnaria near the output so it shimers and flows with the water. I feel like it'll compliment the angels and look striking against the algae--blue wall. Could possibly try soil bags and rocks with a sand cap so the geophagus cant uproot them? Looks great otherwise! Its great to see such a long tank!

The background is fine I think. It would look good with big leaf or large round leaf type anubias. I like the pop of the background. Black background is good but sometimes it doesn't pop the same. Please don't get to hasty with changing it. You just got it set up. Enjoy it for a while. Been watching you for years and bought your book ages ago. Even came to your defense and had words with a pudgy you tuber once 😂
