I grew up shooting a sweet 16 just like that one. Squirrels sure didn’t like it. That gun is why 16 gauge is my favorite.

I inherited my Granddads Sweet Sixteen from my Dad. It was my Grandads go to shotgun . He killed five deer in five shots with it one time in the day. He shot and the deer went down. He thought it got up so he shot again and that one went down. That happened three more times, and when he went to where they were there five deer laying. Of course , they were scattered a bit, but he was beside himself when he found out. I was too young to hunt then ,but I heard all about it.. I am guessing everyone in those days did the tradition of everyone got a portion of the kill for the day. . The deer were cut up. All the men knew how to butcher meat. Meat divided up ,numbers placed on them, Everyone pulled a number out of a hat, they took home the meat that went with it. Your video brought back memories brother

I've got an a-5 standard 16. It's a dog man's dream. Light, but deadly. I've carried that thing many, many miles. I do like the vent rib though, mine's a 28" full, but a plain barrel. Thank you for putting this series together. I'm going to work up some high performance loads for it.

Great video once again Wade! I wanted to touch on something perhaps you might do a video on for us regarding these hulls that get roasted on the roll crimps….. could you please give us the break down of where the spin doctor can save this hull and where we’re probably not going to bring this guy back and he needs to be cut back etc…. A detailed hull resurrection video after buckshot slaughter! I sure would appreciate it and include any curling iron, heat gun, whatever tips that might give us a hand ! Thank you Ray

I have a Remington 3 shot Sportsman in 12ga from the 40’s that looks Identical to the Browning. Same square back, push button bolt release…. Has a poly choke on it. I wonder if they were swapping designs and patents!?

Wade in my younger days im talking 45 or more years ago i had a couple of 16 gauge guns i picked up from an old timer who no longer hunted well they were very nice and a touch less kick then my old twelve guages i had grown up with, Well back in the day they did not differentiate hulls buy color another words everything was pretty much red if you know what i meen well by the grace of god i got lucky and missed a very back accident in the happening, you see a 16 guage shell will go down the barrel of a 12 gauge and let you put a 12 rite behind it! Just by luck i look in the barrel and it was dark low and behold i had some 16s mixed in with my 12s So be careful with that OK God Bless all of us.

We got some 28 gauge reloading videos and patterning videos if you wanna check them out. I know wade said in a previous video he wished he had a 28 gauge so fingers crossed lol. Biggest size you can use in a Straight wall is 28 cal, in tapered 27 cal.

Like many viewers, I have a cylinder bore 20” pump gun. Do you know how to build a range extending deer load . Perhaps a wad that performs in the manner of the federal flight control wad or some other load that will shoot a tighter pattern with open choke guns.

Getting best long range pattern with my drilling 16gauge using 27gr of steel, bp 1680 striker wad with 1/8 cork cushion. 18 pellet nickel plated #2 buck. #47 buffer. Roll crimp with mini nitro card. Avg 1325fps over my chronograph. Better groups than using longshot 21gr at over 100fps faster.

Wade Rush do you know where a person can get slug molds for a 16 gauge ?
@theshotgunscientists
@theshotgunscientists 11 ай бұрын
You can use the Lee drive key slug molds if you graphite lube the mold about 10 times. They almost fit right out of the mold anyway. Or you can cast them and squeeze them down a fuzz.
