Hey brother, you need to load your buck on top of the ball to get better results. Any time you're mixing sizes/weights of projectiles, the lighter ones go on top. The reason is inertia. You hinted at it in the video, but I'd bet money those buck are getting squished being stuck in the middle between the powder and that big ol ball that don't wanna move, and it might be messing up your gas seal too(2 small pressure points on the seal Vs. 1 larger point). Keep up the good work guys!! I'd love to see these exact same loads done again with ball on bottom and buck on top, just to see how much of a difference there is.

It's good to see the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thanks for being honest about it all. FWIW Gen. Washington ordered his men to load "a ball and as many buckshot as was safe to load" in their muskets. It goes back a long way. Keep up the great work.

Still haven't tried any of the "blues" but definitely on my list, has been for a long long time. Longshot has always been my shot shell (magnum) powder & is super fast for 9mm loads too!

The original frontier bucking ball loads used in front stuffers they loaded the large caliber ball first then the smaller ones on top of that may be trying that would improve the group

i have been using blue dot for decades and still love it. it has performed better than any other powder on anything i have used. hope it never goes away.

This is awesome wade. I just filmed a loading video on buck and ball last night actually. We shot one with black powder in a video the other day and it worked beautifully.

The .37s seem to due better; with buffer. Would definitely work well inside of 30 yds, not so well with the long shots but all guns are different. What kind of choke tube you running? Im really curious how it would perform out of different size chokes\barrels. I know you could tighten up those groups with testing!! Enjoyed it! Hope everyone is doing well, God bless y'all!

Been tinkering with putting something like this together but only have LS & STEEL powder. Would go 1/2 flex seal, 1/8 felt, 3 pellets of BP 00+, 1/8 nitro, 69 cal ball, OS card. That all fits nicely in a top gun hull. Don't plan on buffer as these are short range rounds.

Educational video as always Wade. I have kind of a off-the-wall question. I have put together my own Lee loader typekit for 12ga. One that I can put in a small box and do roll crimp reloading applications. My question is how important is resizing the hull brass? And to you know of a resizing tool that you can get. Or something you can use for this?

I LOVE your 1 in 9 (1, .69 Cal. round ball behind 9, .31 Cal. buckshot) but also love the 3, .575 Cal. load! (We have a problem with T-rex's in our neighborhood...) My only long barreled shotgun at present is a Stevens 320 an imported shotgun. (As posted elsewhere)

Just wondering if you put the ball on the bottom and buck on top? I don't load a lot of buck shot mostly bird shot. Out west they just opened some areas for shotgun slugs close to farms and houses.

Did you try smaller buck that stacks by 3’s so the big ball has a 3 point platform to stabilize it better? Seems it would ‘teeter’ on 2 buck?!
