"Remember the Cast Members" I actually work at Universal Orlando and not Disney World but this actually made me start crying. Being a Team Member is such a hard job and I know a quite few Cast Member friends who feel the same about their jobs because of how bad some days at work can be and having somebody remember that we do our best to make the trips special and encouraging others to remember this and do the same means so much to me. We've in California and have done Disneyland/California Adventure several times, but this will likely be our only trip to the Florida Parks. Thinking of at least 10 days so we can build in some rest/resort days just to pace ourselves. How long in advance can you actually make the hotel reservations? I'm thinking of a late April 2021 (anniversary is on the 27th) trip so would April 2020 be too early to start the reservation process? Alex C hey there! I have similar conditions (especially social anxiety, Walmart is a DISASTER for me) but the wonderful thing about Disney is that it’s so far removed from reality that much of that anxiety is suppressed for me when I visit. Granted, I’ve only been to Disneyland in California, but I’ve booked a trip for this coming December! Also, there’s lots of quiet places that are nicely removed from the masses to just sit and relax or watch the crowd and just calm down. Also, I go later in the day (afternoon-closing), so many of the kids who scream are gone! That’s helpful. Finally, Disney has so many accommodations that they’re willing to make to help you enjoy your stay. I’d suggest going. It’s a great experience, especially if you’re a Disney fan!! The best advice I can give you if you are prone to anxiety but want to go, is do what you can, and don’t worry about what you cannot. I hope you can get there someday and it is a great experience for you!

FWIW...don’t let that stop you, if you ever do want to try it. My partner and I both have adhd, anxiety, depression. I have C-PTSD as well. We have a blast at the parks regardless. It’s all about pacing ourselves, building in plenty of downtime, and knowing where the quiet spots are when we are feeling overstimulated. We go less often than a lot of people, but we stay at the Deluxe resorts for the ease of transportation. It’s easy to relax knowing that if we are Done we can make a quick escape back to the resort. We always take midday breaks and make time for table service meals in quieter venues to decompress out of the heat and we stay hydrated constantly with the free ice water. And of course we plan our fastpasses judiciously so we never stand in line longer than 20 minutes. No matter what your challenges it’s very possible to enjoy yourself at Disney World without being overwhelmed.

I have severe PTSD and my daughter has social anxiety but going to a park after dark in the winter months almost never causes an issue for us. I highly agree with Liz, it’s so far removed from reality that I almost feel normal. I do have a bit of trouble going during the day and busy hours. I can’t go to a traditional grocery store or mall , but I can do Disney on a slower evening. One thing we tried recently is an “after hours” party . It’s pricy but for me , it was worth it. they only sell a limited amount of tickets for the park (each park has one on different nights) and you can walk on most rides. It’s like having a park to yourself. WE LOVED IT!

The one tip most people forget to mention is that if you or someone in your party has a disability, head over to guest relations on the first day of visiting the parks to get set up for a disability pass. We rented a double stroller in 2017 from an outside company. They delivered it to the campground(Ft. Wilderness) and then at the end, we simply dropped it off. Cost us like $75 for the week. The thing about strollers, though, is when you park them at the parks to go on a ride, cast members WILL move it. Yes, WILL move it so don't expect it to be in the same spot where you left it. This can be quite unnerving and annoying. After riding Pirates of the Caribbean, took me 15 minutes to find our stroller.

Regarding Mobile Ordering, if you have someone with a allergy, I would consider placing that order separately from the rest of the group. I don’t know if it’s this way everywhere, but I placed a large order at Flame Tree BBQ with one of the orders being a gluten free sandwich. I received the notification that my order was ready and proceeded to the counter. I was told to move to a different counter for pickup because of the gluten free portion of the order. Apparently they needed to physically discuss the nature of the order with me. After that, I probably waited 20 min for my food. I don’t think they actually processed any of my order until that conversation happened. To avoid this in the future, I will just be making the gluten free order separately.

You can get free water and free ice. 5. Disney wait times are not always accurate. If you can, scope out the line before reading the sign. 6. Bring your own stroller! And find some way to identify yours. (Balloon or ribbon or something) 7. Get a Disney card at target w a target red card. U save 5%. We spent 190 for $200 on a card. We got 10 for free. 8. If you opt out of mousekeeping you get a gift card also. 9. Bring tynol for aches and pains. 10.Bring extra charging ports AND outlet chargers. Totally agree with linking your magic band with your Park tickets before you go! We all arrived at the airport once and my sister forgot her wallet! This is not as uncommon as one would think. TSA was able to clear her with special questions, I was able to print her ticket because I paid for her airfare with MY credit card and she was able to get into the Parks because her magic band was linked before the trip! The food plan was on her band as well. Of course, we had a friend FedEx her wallet to the hotel, but it saved so much time having her Disney Magic Band all linked and ready to go!

Another tip: pack your purse the night before you leave, or leave important items in a spot right by the door. I usually carry my wallet in my front jeans pocket (safe from pickpockets); linking the Magic Band to the credt card will mean less cash I need to carry around.

From a former transportation cast member, I would actually NOT recommend having an ECV delivered to your resort unless you truly need it to get to your room and back. They're difficult to maneuver onto buses, especially if you're not used to using one, and you may have to wait an additional twenty minutes or so for a second bus if there are other guests on wheels headed to the same destination.

The tip about walking is important. I didn't train (I have a mostly sit-down job) and by the third day my feet hurt all the time and four of my toes were blistered - and this was wearing a pair of shoes that are usually very comfortable. By the end of the trip my ankles had swollen. If you're like me and don't do a lot of standing/walking at your job, train yourself until you can walk 5 miles in whatever shoes you're going to wear, every day, for however many consecutive days you're going to be at the parks. If I can ever make it back, that's what I'm doing!

I was looking back to see if you had a video all on the character dining options and didn’t see anything. I would love to see a video all about the different character meals, pros and cons, etc. We’ll be there the first week of December with my will be 5 year old twins, and would love to try some different character meals. We’ve done Chef Mickey’s but are also looking for the ones without all the masked characters as my autistic son was very opposed to them last summer when we went for their 4th birthday.

For ECV rentals, I recommend Cloud of Goods. They deliver to your resort and pick up at the end of your trip. They're also really great with customer service. When I went with my mom two years ago, our flight was delayed, and they were able to work with me to make sure the ECV was there when we were.

Definitely take a second pair. One time in Disney World, my feet got soaked from rain earlier in the day, and never was able to dry out. My feet were in pain by the end of the day, but dry shoes would have helped.

All these tips are very good. I've been to Disney World three times now only because I have a friend who is a DVC member. And we're planning a trip here this year to get my mom and dad there with my niece due to them not being able to go when we had a big trip two years ago. We just had a meeting this past weekend to go over a lot of this stuff that this video covers. Yet I know there will still be more stuff that people don't expect on these trips. And I know there's stuff that I still want to do and have not done even after three other two trips there.

A tip for some people wanting to get the most fass passes possible is you can use 3 in the morning then book more in the afternoon while you are in the park. And if you have a child that has a fass pass for a ride and chickens out, you can always book another ride for that kid.

I brought a dinky little umbrella stroller for our granddaughter. Big mistake. Didn’t last long. So We rented our stroller from Kingdom rentals. It was actually a cast member who referred them to me. Delivered right to the resort. Best move ever! Worth every penny!

Disney should ship their magic bands internationally... it’s sucks that you have to live in the states to take advantage of the personalised bands and the ease of advanced check in.. surely it can’t be that difficult for such a large company to ship around the world...

The shoes tip is DEFINITELY a good tip! Might I make my own recommendation of New Balance sneakers. I wore mine all over Disney World in December and bringing them was one of the best decisions I made for my trip. Break them in for sure, but for me, they were so comfortable and worth it.
@robertak26595 жыл бұрын
My husband loves New Balance -- he was able to wear black ones for work before he retired (he drove a bus for almost 30 years) and he still swears by them. I have to wear really wide shoes and I've found a brand called Drew which are really sturdy but also comfortable. I have them in both white and black.

I am used to Disneyland... we like to "let the Disney wind take us" and rarely plan ahead. Sounds like WDW is a place to lock it all down in advance... Does anyone just go without the heavy planning? We'd like to go, but it sounds like kind of a pain... I should mention that we don't have kids... it's just us.
@robertak26595 жыл бұрын
If you don't worry about riding EVERY ride, especially the big ones, you might be able to get by, or if you have the freedom to take an extra long trip (I'm thinking at least 10 days so we can build in rest/resort days). But I think the resort is large enough that at least some thought about what park you want to do on which day is a good idea.

Something for the Canadian travelers to consider... some of the perks and conveniences are not necessarily accessible to those living in Canada. For instance the magic bands will not be delivered to Canadian addresses. While most things like dining and fast pass bookings are available. Some things are not.
@twelveobscuregeese5 жыл бұрын
From what I understand, you can still customize your magic bands and pick them up at the front desk when you arrive at your resort, though, right?
@emilyroccia88315 жыл бұрын
jourdanhw yes you can but it will depend oh how savvy your travel agent is. It’s not an automatic perk and choices are limited for Canadians. As a default you will collect your magic band at the front desk for check in and it will be a standard grey band and have your name and those of your traveling party respectively on the back.

Great Video. I have 2 questions. First what is the best way to recognize a cast member without using social media? Second if you are using a travel agency like Small World... (Assuming you want them to do it) Wouldn't the travel agent make all of the reservations for dining, special events, and fast passes? AJ maybe you could do a video about the things that Small World Vacations could or cannot do to help a person with their trip. Thanks in advance.

TAs can do as much or as little as you want them to do. I go through a different agency solely for their discounts (I won’t name them out of respect for DFB’s partnership but they are known for convention rate bookings). I’m an A type planner and like to do research and handle everything myself so take care of it all, and most times I’m literally just making the trip payments to our TA. All she does is book our Magical Express since that *has* to be done through a TA if you are using one. But on our last trip for example she booked a cabana for us at the Poly, as well as our spa appointment, because I was too busy on our 180 day. Good TAs work with you on your level. If you are the type to need or want that extra help, they can take care of it for you.
@edwardbickford82775 жыл бұрын
@@sinistralwing I really appreciate your reply. like you I do the research and plan things out for my vacations so I've never used a TA before. When I srarted my Disney planning I found there are a lot of important things that should be booked. ( My wife and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary when we go.) It made me want to use a TA for this one. That being said. You have confirmed my expectations on the level of service a TA can provide. Thanks again for helping.

Best way to recognize a cast member without using social media is either having stationery/notes ready that you can fill out and give/leave for them, OR stop by City Hall and they can write out a card for you and/or enter into the computer so the cast member gets recognized! 😀

@DFBGuide Will you be doing any reviews on the new restaurants on the DCL? My husband and I will be going on the Magic in December, and I was wondering if the food is as great as I’ve heard.
@vanessamackey38575 жыл бұрын
You are so right about the MDE app and making sure everybody is on there and you are all linked together. As the unofficial Disney vacation planner in our family I got burned on this once, the first time, and was trying to make fastpasses for 2 different families, trying to find overlapping time slots for the fastpasses because we couldn't figure out how to link our accounts. It does take some time and synchronizing to get this all working right but definitely worth it! Also, note that I think you have to reside in the US for them to mail out your magicbands, otherwise you will have to pick them up at the front desk, but they will be all synced up and ready to go.
