The base m1 pro 14" changed my expectations when it comes to laptops. I own a MSI GF63 from 2018 and a lot of issues developed just in the first year, bloated battery, stuck pixel, plastic chipping on the bottom part of the display hinge, and an almost 2 hr battery life when light usage (more of intel's performance per watt issue). But with the new mac, it is 60% more price but I was able to use the laptop for 6 hrs straight unplugged, using Blender (M1 ver), chrome tabs open, Adobe XD and Photoshop open, while acting like there were no other apps opened. The new macbook acts just like a phone, even with apps opened, there were no slowdowns. I am still a windows user on the gaming part, but for a proper workflow without any problems? the new macbook pro saves me all the time.

As much as I love the newer generation MacBooks (2019, 16 inch and upwards), this video was a bigger delight to watch - great job Mr.E! Clean shots, lighting and script. I agree, the 16 inch size is intimidating at first, but the more you work on it, you realise that all you need is a laptop to get work done. Great screen, battery, speakers (under rated feature in laptops in my opinion), amazing trackpad and a good keyboard. Pair this with a phone, headphone of your choice and you're sorted. At a pinch, many of us can even get away without an external monitor because the screen is so good.

Fully agree with this MacBook Pro being the gold standard. While I opted for the M1 Pro (since I upgrade my hardware regularly), it is simply a beast for what I do every day - graphic design, video and photography. And… I stopped plugging into a monitor as well - 16” is plenty (combined with iPad Pro 12.9 when needed) - the couch is too comfy (or the garden). Great video, E!

I got the 64GB with 2TB and it's absolutely amazing. This machine literally doesn't stop me, doesn't limit me and has enough power that I can't even think how many docker containers I'll be able to run with how many microsoft edge tabs, with how many vscode windows and phpstorm windows are open, yet I'll be able to do all of that for 18 hours a day on a single charge at a cafe (I tested it), without even needing to think about plugging it in. Apple sold me an amazing machine. But to apples chagrin, I won't need to buy another macbook for another 10 years. So they lost money on that one haha

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve got the 64Gb M1 Max which I mainly use to render 100’s of drone photos to produce 3D maps/images. I’m not tied down to a desk any longer. I can do this anywhere AND! on battery power alone, and the MBP is still much faster than my desk top computer.

I got my first MBP in 2009, and stopped using it in 2015. It still works but it’s extremely slow. I haven’t used a computer since. I got the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 inch, which I used for everything now. Now I’m looking to upgrade the upgrade my iPad this year, if Apple changes software to be more diversified. I’m also looking to get a companion device, and stuck between the 16” M1 Max MBP and the M1 Ultra Mac Studio with the Studio display. I’m also anticipating the launch of the M2 chipset lineup, and how that will benefit the hole lineup of products. Great video!

Software engineer here... I recently switched from a desktop setup with four 27" monitors to a 16" MBP 64GB / 2TB and 12.9" iPad Pro 1TB... I don't even touch the desktop these days. So much nicer to not be chained to a desk, so-to-speak. For those that haven't experienced a retina display or 120hz promotion before, you are really missing out - one of their biggest benefits in my experience is how much easier they are on my eyes ... even after spending hours upon hours staring at them.

Such a dope review! And I totally share your views. As a lifelong windows (pc) user who producers, mixes and masters for others, I bit the bullet and made the conversion. Honestly, just the idea of portability alone with maximum and reliable efficiency, my workflow changed in a way that Windows could never satisfy. I have always been a Windows / Linux user and have recently bought my first Mac (Macbook M1 Max, 16", 64Gb, 1TB) and I really like it. The touchpad is the best I have ever used, the speakers have amazing sound, the screen is beautiful, there are fans in here but I have never heard them turning on so far and the keyboard has a great travel and feels just right. And battery life, just wow. I had to wait 4 months for it to be delivered but I can safely say it was worth it. Unfortunately when it comes to software there is still a lot to learn for Apple and too bad that Apple still thinks that they know best. The scroll direction for the touchpad and the mouse are linked together? What were you thinking?! Everybody seems to agree that window management on Windows is way better, so why don't you join us in here in 2022 Apple? And what iStats Menu (great app) gives me should be standard. And as soon as I have a little bit too many icons in my menu bar (which happens faster than you think - unless using a tool like bartender) the rest becomes invisible and disappears behind my camera notch. But at least you are moving in the right direction Apple (well, not price wise - yikes).

Welcome aboard the Mac wagon. About the tackapd and mouse scroll direction issue, one work around is to use Logitech mouse, which you can use the boundled software to adjust direction separate from system setting. Another is to invest in software solution: "BetterTouch Tools” , it practically allows you to customize any peripheral to your heart's content, catch is that the app is not cheap by any means.

I don't get why some folks think this model is too big compared to the 15 inch, it's almost if not the same size as my 2015 15 inch MBP, it is a little bit heavier which I LOVE because I get 4 or 5 or 6 times the battery life depending on what the project is and it fits in the same 15 inch sleeve and even though the retina screen is very good this one is noticeably better.

I went from a 2015 15" MBP to the 2021 16" M1 Max, 64GB, 2TB. I could never take to the previous design (2016-2019). I love the new one! I am a machine learning researcher and do all my modeling work on my machine. Sure, there are issues with some of the libraries, I am sure they will be ironed out. The main problem with this laptop is that I am uncomfortable traveling with it for the fear of dropping it.

First off : i am a mac book pro 15 inch mid 2014 owner and i love it ! BUT : Apple needs to be taught a lesson and that lesson needs to be taught soon !!! People need to stop buying demonic Apple products for 1 year or maybe 2. Straight , no macs , iphones , heck , no adapters nothing!!!! Let me Explain : i love using logic pro BUT!!! they soldered the SSD onto the motherboard ever since 2016. I recently went to an apple certified repair shop and asked them : what if i get a m1pro macbook pro and as soon as the warranty expires , the ssd fails me . How do u go about repairing it ? They said it ll cost me a hefty sum cause they replace the whole board . I was like WhAT ? Like dayum , replace 5-6-7 parts just cause one don’t work , there ain’t nuthin logical about that . Another point is : on windows : 1tb ssd --> roughly 110$/€ . 2 tb --> roughly 2x 110 $/€ . @demonic-apple --> 2tb costs 800$ …?!?! What ? And you can t even replace it . I have a dream : :” that for 1 year straight up nobody buys any apple products , not even an adapter . Let s see those execs shit their pants and start asking questions like : oh my … what are we doing wrong ? To me they seem like money hungry apes that can not quench their thirst for money . It walks along the lines of unethical . There s isn’t even any real advantage to having the ssd soldered. I ve heard people say that it s faster . No it s not . We have the internet . Anybody can check the numbers and the speeds of different ssd s out there. Oh and just to put the cherry on top : iphone 13 : amazing processor and hardware but it s rocking the lightning port 🤣 usb 2.0 speeds . Apple 🍎 i really hope u get yours and the EU puts you in place with regulations on ports and on right to repair . They got hundreds of billions offshore like liquidities …. This got outta pocket a long time ago … out of their consumers pockets to be exact. They answer to no one and lack moral discernment . Take care y’all 😃🙏🏻🤗. But the processors are amazing and I respect the integration of the cpu and gpu and RAM 🐏 . Cause that actually wields a big boost in performance. However, I also like my current 13inch (the last last model from intel maxed out) and I want to upgrade to the M1. Now that Apple has released the ULTRA..does this mean that the M1 MAX is already outdated? I have 16 M1 Max, 64 ram and 1tb ssd. I’m pro photographer and use it strictly for photography. But I have problems with it. When I open Psb files, it takes between 2 and 3 minutes for them to open in Ps. Psd files generally are also not snappy, it takes between 10 and 20 seconds for them to open. In addition to that, when I’m in the process of saving the open file, and then in the same time go to create a smart object, a dialog box pops up with the forward moving progress bar, it takes about 4-5 minutes each time for this to finish. Can’t to anything but wait. I tried resetting and redownloading photoshop. But didn’t help.

Agree with the conclusion. I previously had a fully specked 2019 16inch i9… what a steaming hot noisy and annoying turd of a machine. My new 16inch M1 Max is a revelation and is cool and silent even under heavy load, my faith in Apple is restored.

Aren't those 1000nits only on HDR content in supported apps and the defailt SDR mode used thoughout caps at "only" 500nits? But trully, had Apple wanted to build a perfect creator's laptop, they'd have released the 16" with all the ports of the Max-based Studios to populate both sides to the brims... I mean a laptop with 2xAs + 6xxCs + 10GbE + SD card + HDMI would have been great. Even better if Apple even decided to release a DTR-like in their style, so a 16" that's slightly larger in all dimensions to accomodate power delivery and cooling for more heat dissipation with the Ultra - it is after all still running at power levels Windows work and game laptops typically have their GPUs only, so Apple certainly could allow for an 18" big boy equipped with 6x TB4s instead of just 3-4xTB4 + 2xUSB3.2 and the rest of the ports... ;) Plus maybe they could have found place for even CFlash and higher SD standards for even better compatiblity and transfer speeds...

I like it is as well. I see more people complain about the notch that don't actually own the computer vs the people that use it daily. Its not a issue at all IMO

First off : i am a mac book pro 15 inch mid 2014 owner and i love it ! BUT : Apple needs to be taught a lesson and that lesson needs to be taught soon !!! People need to stop buying demonic Apple products for 1 year or maybe 2. Straight , no macs , iphones , heck , no adapters nothing!!!! Let me Explain : i love using logic pro BUT!!! they soldered the SSD onto the motherboard ever since 2016. I recently went to an apple certified repair shop and asked them : what if i get a m1pro macbook pro and as soon as the warranty expires , the ssd fails me . How do u go about repairing it ? They said it ll cost me a hefty sum cause they replace the whole board . I was like WhAT ? Like dayum , replace 5-6-7 parts just cause one don’t work , there ain’t nuthin logical about that . Another point is : on windows : 1tb ssd --> roughly 110$/€ . 2 tb --> roughly 2x 110 $/€ . @demonic-apple --> 2tb costs 800$ …?!?! What ? And you can t even replace it . I have a dream : :” that for 1 year straight up nobody buys any apple products , not even an adapter . Let s see those execs shit their pants and start asking questions like : oh my … what are we doing wrong ? To me they seem like money hungry apes that can not quench their thirst for money . It walks along the lines of unethical . There s isn’t even any real advantage to having the ssd soldered. I ve heard people say that it s faster . No it s not . We have the internet . Anybody can check the numbers and the speeds of different ssd s out there. Oh and just to put the cherry on top : iphone 13 : amazing processor and hardware but it s rocking the lightning port 🤣 usb 2.0 speeds . Apple 🍎 i really hope u get yours and the EU puts you in place with regulations on ports and on right to repair . They got hundreds of billions offshore like liquidities …. This got outta pocket a long time ago … out of their consumers pockets to be exact. They answer to no one and lack moral discernment . Take care y’all 😃🙏🏻🤗. But the processors are amazing and I respect the integration of the cpu and gpu and RAM 🐏 . Cause that actually wields a big boost in performance. I hope somebody serves them good .. money hungry apes 🦧 And now they ship different iPhones with different chips. oh my God bruh... let's start this movement ... i m begging y'all let us all stop buying their products for 1 Year :)))))) it would be amazing

I am very impressed with Apple Silicon’s capabilities and efficiency, especially that we are able to run Linux on it (though Asahi Linux is still in its alpha stage of development with many features missing), but the lack of repairability makes it a deal breaker. I am going to stick to desktops and rackmount servers for high performance computing.

I think the 16" is juuuust slightly too big for an easy "take it with you" sort of setup so I got the 14" version of this and it's my dream laptop. Yes it's pricey but you get what you pay for. A high quality premium ultrabook from Apple that will last you 7+ years easily.

If you wanna pay up to $12,000AUD go ahead. It has more options to what it can do like coming with Microsoft office, music and video editing software and extra options like an external touch pad ect so yea I kinda want a b
