bro i have a clubbed foot but played 3 sports and was a captain in 2, dad died when i was 11 in 99, mom was laid up in bed from 94 to 2002, gf was in a coma with 10% chance to live in 05, kicked out in 07 for smoking weed, lost license in 05 for driving 140 on the highway while high and still dont have one, started a business that made 3500 a week but my business partner embezzled all the $, i was kicked out at 19 in 07 because i smoked weed but now i have an effing medical card... im a millionaire now. if i can do it with everything stacked against me and a broken body and death surrounding me... you can too. you can probably go further if you actually tried. im not special im just not a quitter. go get it and dont let anything stand in your way. (note i pay too much for employees to mow lawns at 25$ a lawn in areas where 50$ a lawn is standard, i pay my guys extra for going above and beyond and getting more than their quotas done for the day, we charge market price for other services) so im not some greedy ceo either, thats not the only path. find ways to make peoples goals align with yours and find mutually beneficial situations for your business and your customers and everyone wins. we werent profitable mowing lawns until we had 25 accounts but i found that in my own neighborhood before i had to hire a driver and buy a truck so my overhead was nothing. i simply mowed lawns for myself instead of a middle man. take agency in your life and youll find youve lost everyone to blame but yourself, and thats a heavy motivator to get you off your own ass. embrace challenge as an opportunity to prove yourself, not as a woe is me situation where you feel sorry for yourself. push the limits and youll be amazed at what you can achieve Edit: my mom was in a car accident in 1994 and herniated 3 disks in her back, she ended up having 13 back surgeries because the doctor kept suggesting she have them, our settlement covered the first 3. she tried to sue the doctor but was 6 months late on the statute of limitations, this cost us 8 million dollars after my father was working 18 hr days that ended up killing him. my clubbed foot is pretty severe, doctors told my parents i wouldnt be able to walk but they didnt tell me that until i made my first allstar team in baseball. our travel team that year came in 2nd place in all of northern illinois and i was starting shortstop.

Divorce was the wake-up call that caused my people pleasing natured self to start making decisions that felt selfish but were really just making me and my life better. I've since moved across the country, tripled my income as an entrepreneur, remarried, and have a 1mo old child. I learned how to be alone, enjoy my own company, and say no. I still feel the urge to avoid conflict but instead make a conscious decision to speak truth in love with the same kindness I learned to show myself. It's possible to make real progress in your life guys!! Took me about 4 years to get here and I'm about to turn 30. I thank God for His favor every day.

I like the balance in the lessons between a more merciful approach and a motivational pull. It’s also nice to realize how much more common it is for people to struggle with these aspects than the impression I get from those around me. Since you quoted Goethe, there’s another quote I really like, probably the most famous one in German: "Zwei Seelen wohnen, ach! in meiner Brust," which translates to "Alas, two souls dwell within my breast!" This line reflects Faust’s internal struggle between “the artist and the scientist.” This sentiment feels like a common background theme in many of your episodes. Thanks for the lessons Chris! :)

Someone at work yesterday went on and on about how working out was the most insecure thing you could do and that’s why he’d never do it. At first I was annoyed that he had an option that was opposite to mine, but then I got happy… keep thinking that and loving your conveniently placed excuses while I just keep getting better every day. Stay in comfort forever, it’s okay I’ll never see you again. Just a different way of accepting the negativity that’s in this world today. You have no control over anything but yourself so don’t give it any energy.

Working out insecure? haha. so eating deliveroo while scrolling on your phone getting fat and soft: does that give you security? leave him alone. Not worth it
@Mr_Penguins_Pet_Human6 сағат бұрын
I agree. We can't control others, but we can choose our external and internal reactions. Since few people have influence over my life, I also choose to ignore what they think or do and just smile to myself and move on. And if someones rude or overly negative, I remind myself that they have to live with that mindset everyday, and how miserable it must be for them. Unfortunately, as another post mentioned, consider the average person - half of humanity falls below that standard!

My main concern is how to survive all of these financial and political crisis, especially in light of the US political power scuffle. The government has really called things more difficult for its citizens, and we can't sit back and bear all the consequences of the bad governance.

I suggest that hiring a portfolio coach is a smart move and that in this case, patience is your best friend. I make a lot of investments and cannot afford to take the risk of doing it alone. Instead, since the rona outbreak began in late 2019, my portfolio has been maintained by a qualified advisor. I only need about $86k more to reach my one million dollar ROI goal

Yes true, I have been in touch with a brokerage Advisor. With an initial starting reserve of $75k, my advisor chooses the entry and exit commands for my portfolio, which has grown to approximately $550k.

You're like the friend I never had when I was getting bullied in school. And it's helping me mend the issues that were unfixed since then. Mostly, getting my sense of self back and realizing the bully is no better than me. Not just because my ego would like that but because the reason I listened to the bully was because I wanted to make the better choice. So those that made me feel broken and gave me a solution used me at my expense and made me feel horrible and selfish for wanting anything for myself in my own life-experience. You're also like the mage scholar that gave me the spells to battle the ghost of Karl Marx that lives in my mind. Thanks, Chris. I hope you skillfully follow your own advice and have a lot of fun during the holidays! ❤💪

Insecure overachiever here, with low self-belief and high standards. Closing out a year of frustration, dead ends, and unmet goals. MW content leans aspirational and feels geared towards folks who have found success and only need to loosen their grip and enjoy the ride (which I appreciate). But there are those of us who aren't "in orbit" at the moment, and sometimes all you manage to do is blow up on the launch pad. Over and over and over. If that's you, you're not alone. We'll make it happen next year.

I am a leftist and appreciate your videos as an alternate perspective to my own, because I learned this year I need to do a better job of trying to understand the other side. It's interesting to me hearing you idolize demonstrably awful, exploitative wealthy people, one of whom you had on the other day regarding the Mangione case, but most of the time I learn something new from you and appreciate it. I wish more people cared to do a little introspection and stop simply feeding on the stuff the algorithm feeds them.
@TakeElite10 сағат бұрын
I'm not a lefty per se because I totally embrace liberalism but if I have to label myself I lean more towards this side. -first the Left leaders gentrified, in French we use the expression GAUCHE CAVIAR (literally left-caviar) I live in Paris, and the Mayor is on the left-side...ok but the most decisions and law she passes are against poor people, and she doesn't do it on purpose but it's the result! She is against cars and practically banned them from paris except brand-new ones( who can pass the pollution threshold) or electrics cars...only rich people can afford that type of cars...the expression for that is Punitive-ecology. -Another huge flaw among others I identified on the left side is "unity of struggles" (this how we call it in French do know it is universal) which means they will defend WORKER AND emigrant AND women AND LGBT...etc it can seems a good thing at first glance BUT in fact it just blur the all message ( if I want to have a pizza I don't go to a chinese restaurant) and even be counterproductive and mostly because working-class has the impression of being abandoned by the left in favor of LGBT ....and don't me wrong I'm pro liberty, anyone can do anything they want BUT they're a NICHE and putting that kind of speech up front, give the impression that they are just fighting for the right of this fraction of people And fort the last argument I can only recommend you the video of @JimmyTheGiant How The Left FAILED Young Men...basically the right convoy the idea of being ALPHA MALE and the left are pussies ( his words 😁)

Ozempic, just like any fat loss surgery, doesn't fix the root problem. If the individual doesn't make better choices using their own free will, they will just fall back into the old, unhealthy habit. However, Ozempic users loose muscle along with fat. So when they stop taking or fall off the wagon, they gain fat back. Which puts them in a worse spot then prior. Weight loss surgeries are a glorified eating disorder which is exactly what ozempic is, minus the vomiting from eating too much from having a stomach stapled. My wife's mother had weight loss surgery and she is as big or bigger then she was before. But now she vomits if she eats too much of certain things. The system is broken. Lets prescribe X drug or X surgery rather then fixing the root cause. The person's diet...

A virtuous act is virtuous. Doing a virtuous thing is doing something virtuous. But does doing a virtuous act make YOU virtuous if it's a compulsion? No, the act is still virtuous but you aren't necessarily. Yet failing to act virtuously isnt going to make you a virtuous person either. Don't work on changing the act because that part is already good. Work on your cumpulsions cuz thats where the problem is. At least that's my equation.

18:00 Some people simply do not want the society to degenerate to living unhealthy and rely on drugs. Being slim due to drugs use does not mean being physicaly and mentaly healthy. 9:43 ‘Male suicide accounts for as many deaths as breast cancer’ Unless I am miss interpreting this, If he’s saying that more men die from suicide than women die from breast cancer, It’s not correct. Going off UK statistics here: Approximately, there was around 4,500 male suicides in 2023. Around 11,400 female breast cancer deaths in 2023. This is in no way critical of Chris or the show. I am a massive fan. Been to his live show in the UK. But when I heard this, I had to take a look for myself. The stats I found are from Cancer research UK and Office for National Statistics.

I believe the reason those who enjoy getting in shape has come from both internal and external benefits. Not only how you look but the person you become in the process. It's an external marker of those who are building internal qualities. Jealousy might be an aspect of it, but I do desire others to feel that same progression that I have felt as I've become a better version of myself. So slowly taking away everything that challenges or builds up a human scares me for the future. We see that the less our society is challenged, the more self-sabotaging we become. We need elements of this life to build our character through struggle and perseverance. Does that have to be exercise only? No, I guess not. But the questions is if we slowly take away these things, where do we find them.

56:58 - about men having to earn the right to talk about their emotions: I’ve thought about this one a lot. Maybe it’s because I have a great relationship with my (very masculine) dad and older brother, but this just doesn’t quite ring true for me (not that there’s no double standard against men, but I don’t think this is the explanation for it). To me, this theory feels more true on social media than in real life. I think people’s “ick” towards “emotional” men comes more from what they perceive as a disproportional response to the given situation, than him having a lack of “man points”. It’s not attractive to watch any adult human being throw a temper tantrum, or wallow in self pity. It’s true that society’s sense of what amounts to an “overreaction” is skewed against men, allowing them less leeway to display strong vulnerable emotions- I’d say that’s definitely true. But it’s not like people are leaving derisive comments under videos of fathers crying when their military son comes home for Christmas, or when a victim of a crime/traumatic event is recounting his experiences, etc. I see this happening more when the audience perceives the subject of the man’s distress as not justifiable. For example, third-wave feminists and misandrists telling men to “stop crying” because they don’t have any real problems because ~patriarchy~ (despite the absolutely tragic suicide/mental health stats Chris shared). They simply don’t have any empathy for the struggles being endured by the men they’re talking about. It’s less about “man points” and more about the perceived justifiableness of the emotions in relationship to the situation. Anyway, thanks for a very enlightening and relatable year of podcasts, Chris!! Can’t wait til you bring the tour to Arizona.
