I just used my 2019 MacBook Pro on youtube and it glitches and skips audio during songs. My phone and of don’t do this on the same videos Middle class rut “new low” is one of many songs that skips forward real quick around the 2:20 mark. Plays smooth on everything else. Kinda a disgrace that a laptop over 3 grand I got for audio production is doing this, better not do this when recording I also just added over 200 video files and songs on there. Moved it from the download folder into another new folder. It moved everything to the new folder but didn’t update all the gigs in the folder. A few minutes later, THE ENTIRE FOLDER WAS EMPTY. IT DELETED ALL THE FILES. What a trash company man

Thank you for mentioning the need for the SD card slot at 8:30. Every Mac user needs to keep pounding on Apple until they do the right thing and return that Pro feature to the MBP. Goodness knows we pay enough for it. Schiller tried to defend its removal in an interview by saying he's a photographer and doesn't need it, adding that Apple doesn't like the fact the SD cards stick out the side of the Mac! Yeah. He actually said that. Putting the extension power cord back in the box would be another welcome improvement. And as silly as some say it might look, having a single USB-A port on this "Pro" MacBook would eliminate an easily lost dongle. Anyway, thanks for the great overview!

what did you buy? which model?
@MichaelGGarry5 жыл бұрын
The thing is with Apples pricing...... If you take the base model and upgrade the GPU (5500 with 4gb) and up the storage to 1TB, you are almost at the upper tier model which comes with those features anyway, so you're almost getting the i9 for "free". Here in Singapore the price difference is therefore only S$80 for the i9 instead of the listed upgrade price of S$360.......
@madagaska90115 жыл бұрын
Michael Garry the i9 you get when you upgrade from the i7 is actually the 5.0 ghz one instead of the 4.8 ghz one, it costs 180 more. But the 2 i9s are too close to justify the 180 price difference
@MichaelGGarry5 жыл бұрын
@@madagaska9011 Good spot - but why on earth do they do that? It still doesn't change the point though, that if you upgrade the GPU and storage on the base model, you can then just get the upper model with those features already included plus an i9 for a rather small difference in price. Which leaves me in quite a quandary as I have seen reports that the 5500 + i9 can lead to power throttling, but I haven't seen many people test the i7 + 5500.....
@madagaska90115 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelGGarry Depends on your room temperature sometimes. In 20 degrees Celcius or below room temperature, the machine is unlikely to overheat, however, in a hotter room with a sustained workload the machine can definitely throttle.
@MichaelGGarry5 жыл бұрын
@@madagaska9011 But the reports are power limit throttling, not heat.
@madagaska90115 жыл бұрын
Michael Garry the cpu is rated at 45W and can boost up to 60-70W, gpu is rated at 50W and can also boost a bit higher than that. With display, ssd, and other stuff drawing power, the system can draw more than the 100Wh battery can offer at peak. If you plug the power adapter in tho you should see everything running at its designed speed. The MacBook Pro was designed as a 100W system and performance shouldn’t suffer too much if you run it purely on battery power

If the the external 5k LG goes to sleep (I set my MBPs to not sleep fully) then it won't wake up and I have to unplug it and re-plug it in and the battery is still awful. On top of that, despite turning 'off' automatic adjust brightness (including dim display when on battery) my display is constantly dimming and I'm having to manually adjust the brightness which a 'huge' issue for me a video editor trying to work with colour. I'm keeping my June 2019 model and abandoning Apple altogether on laptops now. Before it's suggested my issues are isolated, they aren't, they were aware of the issues for others as well. I updated my questions about fan noise (originally posted here) to kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpfId6h3e9R2qZI The message there now asks the following: I'm a recording musician so my priority is a balance between power and the lowest fan noise. Of the three 16" MacBook Pro M1 models three (and the three 14" MacBook Pro M1 models) which run coolest? And which run most quietly in terms of fan noise? @Mac Tech, would you consider making a comparison video on the fan noise among the current six MacBook Pro models? And also like to know if the M1 Pro or M1 Max typically have less fan noise, particularly when runing Logic and other audio apps. I think there are probably other musicians (particularly of the self engineering ilk), vloggers and editors that would sacrificed a little power for a more consistently quiet working environment! For decades I've been plagued with the nearly constant, low level, but distinctly audible fan noise ... which often reaches a ridiculously unacceptable levels. On one MacBook any touch to the trackpad would spin up the fan and it would stop when I removed my touch. Apple was never able to help me find a solution. So I'm cautious. I've LOVE to get the 16 inch MacBook Pro, but I've seen reviews that state that it runs it fans louder and more often than the 14 inch models. (I'd be inclined to get the Mac Studio but I'm too attached to portability.) My ace in the hole will be using an iPad as a control surface, so I can move further away from any problematic fan noise. Anybody finding MacBook Pro fan noise problematic on the latest Models?

Hey Guys! I really enjoy your videos! I think you could make a video comparing video editing in ALL Macs and iPads, and with every new product you could add them into the list. Cheers! Love from Brazil!

Only 1080p on this size of screen is not enough at all for video on KZbin and Netflix. On 10 inches Android devices you get 1440p. A great disappointment.

Whats it like for recording music with logic pro x?

Loud. Very loud

luke williams is that good or bad? Lol

SoundSharp Music Ltd Wade Sharp bad very bad. Unless you have a penchant for fans that sound like jet planes. For most users the fans won’t get that far. If you’re a music producer running lots of plugins those fans will be loouuud.

luke williams i see cheers for that! Much appreciated glad i never brought it now

SoundSharp Music Ltd Wade Sharp if you use external monitors or headphones obviously they will mask the fan noise but otherwise they are super annoying. Other than that it’s a powerful computer

Vadim/Max. When do you know if 8GB of RAM is enough or if 16GB is needed? What programs needs a lot of RAM in your experience?
@alexgarber79105 жыл бұрын
I have 32gigs on my macbook. And I `d not mind to have another 32)) for my photoshop projects I can use ALL available memory.
@jedwardoo5 жыл бұрын
Alex Garber so far do you use 32 GB or only up to 80% of it only?
@MaxTechOfficial5 жыл бұрын
If you’re doing productivity work like photo or video editing or programming or music production. If you’re not doing anything like that often you’ll be fine.

@@MaxTechOfficial doing these in semi pro mode is the upgrade still worth? as a non-professional, little video editing do I really need to spend that much money? Thanks for your efforts! Keep it up 👍
@alexgarber79105 жыл бұрын
@@jedwardoo as I said all 32. I work with ultra high res and 600dpi projects with hundreds or sometimes over 1k layers with styles, group masks and bunch of other stuff. So yeah, I use all the power it can provide me :)

1-2dB is negligible in nearly all situations. I’d say that means Apple made an excellent trade-off.

Depends on what you do. Normal 4K projects should be a breeze. Just don’t edit 8k raw with it lol

Now I need a 14 inch MacBook Pro with integrated graphics for better battery life, then I wanna buy an egpu and put a 5700XT in it which blows the 5500M out of the water and I don’t need that power on the go. Also an improved webcam and as card slot and HDMI port would be nice.

How is it with gaming now? Bootcamp. I actually wanna play anno 1800 on an extern screen with 1440 p. You think the 5500 m 8 gb will handle that. That’s the only game I wanna play tho. So no, i don’t wanna go for a razer or sth.

Thanks for the detailed review. I bought it with 64TB RAM, 4TB SSD, 8TB video card RAM and I use it primarily with Adobe Lightroom. I noticed that many tasks such as face recognition, exporting files, uploading images to a cloud service and creating previews put enough pressure on the CPU forcing the noisy vent system to kick in. Is it normal? Is there any configuration tip that might reduce this quite annoying and unpleasant behavior? Many thanks, Stefano
@rohanjain90504 жыл бұрын
Stefano Maruzzi it should be fine after all the software updates. But also Lightroom is horribly optimized.

Which GPU for gaming in pretty great conditions (future-proof) ?
@johngalt66275 жыл бұрын
Go for the bigger one with 8GB memory. The smaller one works fine for games too, but obviously a GPU can't be "too fast". Remember that there are eGPUs as well, so you are not necessarily bound to the MacBooks own GPU. I use a Blackmagic eGPU for gaming and rendering myself. Very handy.
