Ok... ISTPs have been hitting me in the face with some Ti bombs since this video. My logic was that ISTPs lean towards mastery more than innovation as a preference and therefore won't typically be "geniuses" as I was defining it, that definition is a bit narrow. After looking at the list... it seems very logically inconsistent to me as a result. ISTPs should be in the likely category. ~ Nathan

When it comes to the word genius, i think of someone who's not just smart, but innovative, someone that can be original, doesn't need a step by step process in making something, and someone who is more experimental, so i kinda agree with this list.

Does anyone else really appreciate how high ENFPs were ranked? It seems like our intelligence is often underestimated simply because of how "quirky", bubbly, or scatter-brained we can be. But it turns out we were the undercover geniuses all along 🤓

@sydneyotterson9884
@sydneyotterson9884 3 жыл бұрын
@@annibrowning868 Who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️ I couldn't honestly answer that without solid data. When looking for statistics on the correlation of MBTI and IQ, some sources will tell you that ENFPs are higher than INFPs and INFJs, others will tell you the opposite. So it's really just all conjecture at this point. In my experience, I've noticed that I can grasp onto new information faster than my INFJ and INFP friends, which could make a difference in evaluating IQ. But of course that doesn't mean I'm an overall "smarter" person than they are.

@@sydneyotterson9884 I was only thinking about a specific type of "genius" that is true. Those in the arts. Artists and writers. Of which I have read about on articles relating to mbti, which seem to indicate that infps and infjs are prevalent in literature but also I know many enfp artists that are some of my favourites. I don't think genius is directly or purely correlated to iq though.

If it makes you feel any better, as an INTP person with experience of working in a research environment (engineering) with a lot of ISTP people and a lot of INTP types too, I think I'd rank ISTP people as more deserving of the genius tag, at least under my definition. My experience is that, as a broad brush stroke, while INTP people might be more inquisitive, and perhaps more wide-ranging, ISTP folk are more ingenious. It's much easier after all to understand a solution once it's presented to you, but the inventive bit is creating that solution in the first place! And if a genius is someone who acts in ingenious ways, well, there's your answer. (The INTP folk I can think of are more likely to be doing something cross-disciplinary and speculative, which is valuable in it's own way, but less fitting of the word "ingenious" than the ISTP people generally inventing more novel solutions within their area.)

@@lovewho Do you know what the 'Akashic-records' is? Experiencing that is what a genius is! After such an experience, a person is changed for the better and newfound knowledge and greater communication with the akashic-records becomes frequent, albeit to a much lesser extent. I used to be good with inventing technology, but it was iffy-at best! However, after the experience (triggered before going into a breakdown and falling into depravity). After a cry to god (so to speak), a entered a trance like state of mind, involuntarily. Long story short, my driven more than even, and more of a humanitarian than I realized (ENFP cultivate that in us 😊). As for the gift I was given to aid me in completing the task discussed in the akashic-records (metaphysical domain, trance-like state; accessed and experienced via the mind. The records choose you, not the other way around). My technological prowess/innovation is comparable to that of Nikola Tesla. The sciences are actually a common career direction for INFPs. It's true that we need to find a certain degree of meaning and inspiration in whatever we pursue, and a lot of INFPs find more of that in areas like the arts, humanities, and social sciences, but we can certainly find meaning in the hard sciences as well, and INFP scientists are surprisingly common. This was recognized as early as in the type descriptions in Gifts Differing. Personally, I've wanted to pursue so many things: art, writing, philosophy, psychology, math, physics, neuroscience, astronomy. I think a lot of us have wide-ranging interests, and a lot of us have more logical and technical capacities than commonly assumed. But in the end, we have to whittle things down to what means the most to us or feels most authentic to us. And I don't think one is more or less of a genius simply based on what type of field one applies that genius to.

As an ENFP, my ego just went from me thinking I’m one of the dumbest types to nope. Fuck y’all I’m a genius. Thx! Honestly tho it kinda makes sense. I think the reason this happens is because we really just carve our own paths to things. Like I think a lot of people will just do whatever’s mainstream or seems like the most efficient way and ENFP’s don’t really give a shit what other people think is best; we’ll test it on our own and then figure out what’s best for us.

@@mysterroniouscherry326 I'm an INFP but I relate to this. I think it's cause we share the same functions, just in a different order. My Ne loves being stimulated whether that comes in the form of the internet or a discussion with friends and family, so my ideas can constantly be retouched and so refined to make the most sense at the current moment (my tertiary Si creating a data bank for my baby Te to refer to when trying to find the idea that is the most logical/has evidence). My Fi loves self-expression so by articulating my thoughts/theories through essays, writing, art etc, and I use that as a basis to debate different interpretations to things, before coming with a new conclusion on something. I use a combo of both Fi and Ne to understand other people's perspectives and it is there I use empathy to understand the general human condition. The struggles I find is that because I'm introverted and I have a vast vocab (for someone in the Health Science domain) people assume I'm smart, especially in academics and sometimes I struggle to meet their expectations. This is especially true considering I'm lazy and unproductive as heck.

ENFP are a blessing 😘❤️! Get married to an GENUINE INFJ or INTJ! And more than everything else, study 'Narcissitic personality disorder' / 'cluster-B'! Keep wonderful yourself safe from them! You're the sort of Angels the ESFJ/ESTJ-NARCISSITS (ESJ are evil personality types, even without NPD; look it up. Most of them are compulsive-manipulators and lairs! They generate and spread misery and are often sadists. Lastly, learn about they method of abuse/torment, e.g. gaslighting, and messing with people's head, turning them against someone! ESJ 'experience' people as objects! They (European ESJ-narc) are everything that is wrong with the world! And the cause of racism, toxic feminity (manipulation via sexualization, destroys female reputation). Stay safe. Also, genuine INFJ, here. P.s. narcissits/cluster-B have little grey matter in brain. You can expose them via MRI. ISTP/ISFP are traitors. They have a "better you than me" mentality. They aren't in tune with their emotional-empathy and so they 'see' people as NPD. They don't have the disorder, but their stagnant-kind facilitates as well, so easily mind-controlled. Pps: narcissists radiate 'rabid-animosity', they are deranged outside and indoors!

Why is ESTP so far above ISTP? That makes no sense whatsoever. If Se is underrated (as was mentioned when discussing ESTPs and athletic genius) than why would an ISTP be at the bottom while INTPs are at the top? ISTPs have an instinct created by Se-Ni that I'd argue would make innovation in both an abstract and tangible sense less consciously taxing. New ideas can just come to them. If that's not genius, I don't know what is.

INFP National Merit Scholar w/165+ IQ (around 10 points plus or minus 165) with a laaaaawwwwwng history of academic disinterest and neglect. Totally agree with what he said about INFP’s often being turned off by dryer subjects. That said, disinterest doesn’t preclude genius-level aptitude - it simply means we’re less likely to act based on said aptitude - soooo, it all depends on how one defines genius; is it ability or is it ability + follow-through? Examples: I am not particularly science-minded, but have really solid reasoning skills and spatial awareness - so I could ace AP Physics as the only freshman, and then flunk basic chem as a junior. I could take a Johns Hopkins self-guided math course over the summer and make it through a year of geometry in under two weeks (motivated by the desire to avoid our school’s geometry teacher)... and then fail pre-calc the next year.. Our disinterest and neglect of certain things that we can’t find interest in are the biggest obstacles to our academic or mainstream success... granted, we prolly weren’t interested in that anyhow.🙃. Point being: I think an INFP might be “highly likely” to be the genius you don’t know is a genius.

As a self described INFJ, I resonate with what you said about how our type can learn things people know by understanding the person. Here's how I would put it: I have never had much trouble with subjects that naturally and inherently lend themselves with what I like to call Direct Empathetic Engagement, the direct and straightforward analysis of human motivation. Those subjects include history, political science, theology, sociology, psychology, etc. But I run into a problem with subjects like calculus and physics, and so forth. This is because my Ni, Fe, and their servant Ti, have no way of interrogating a mathematical equation or scientific principle. But of course, other people created the disciplines of geology, biology, astrophysics, microelectronics, and so forth. I have long felt that if I could study the History of the Reasoning behind the Creation of mathematics and the hard sciences, I could get into Empathetic Engagement with that, and thereby render those studies perfectly comprehensible for myself. Anyway, dude: love your content!

@@josephwilliammusic ENFP here. I have never taken any psychology lessons but speak by experience and from what I heard on youtube. I was kind of surprised that INFJ was not at the top... I believe that this kind of ranking is very inaccurate since this is only focusing on stereotypes. The whole concept of MBTI should be about giving information about how someone *tends* to behave in order to understand relationships between ppl and for self development. Stereotypically, as you said, the NTs are more likely to be "geniuses"... Not so true... This is "narrowing"... You don't always behave in a way that fits your type, everyone behaves like all 16 types based on their experiences and on how they feel their "right" way to behave is... So this is very inaccurate, but could stereotypically be accepted. Just an opinion. Your type does not define you but rather gives you an idea on how you tend to behave. Any comments mentioning ego stroking kind of make me cringe, or roll my eyes. I realize some people are living out a meme here and having some fun, but others I fear are genuinely that easily validated and self-obsessed. Your skill sets are like plants: if you let them languish in the darkness without water or sunlight, they will wither and die, and be of no use to anyone, especially yourself, which is the salient point here. Nobody should be watching these videos to get a boost to their confidence when they are not actively being involved in a day-to-day improvement of the self. All that's occurring when employing this mind set is an act of mental gymnastics wherein you watch a video that calls you a genius while you sit being lazy, and the payment of the compliment is enough to justify your uselessness for another day. The result then being Nathan using his own creative genius to take the time to formulate and execute video ideas for some very lazy and easily validated people who aren't even going to transfer the insights he's sharing into a practical expression of growth to improve or enrich their own lives.

This applies especially to INFPs. One doesn't necessarily have to have a genius IQ to be a genius writer or artist. Really cool list and I enjoyed your reasoning :) thought I would share - the only genius I know in my life is my my boss who was a laboratory manager when I first started and recently got promoted to the facility manager (overlooking the production and operation of the whole plant). Has PHD in chemistry and I swear - photographic memory. Remembers chemical names, properties, reaction, instrumentation operation on a molecular level and maintenance. Very skilled at fixing things hands on and troubleshooting things in theory. Can read a manual once or a procedure and recall sentences from memory. He is an ESTJ.

@@StormKillzone I think a lot of this simply comes down to how you choose to define the word "genius". It doesn't just mean smart. ISTJs and ISTPs specifically excel at mastering a particular skill, but for me, being a genius requires ingenuity and originality, not just raw intelligence or mastery of a skill. An ISTP is very likely to become extremely adept a doing something, but is less likely to pioneer new ways of doing that thing, or approaching the problem from a new angle, and is more likely to rely on preestablished methods that they already know work. That doesn't mean that they aren't smart, and that doesn't mean that they can't be geniuses, just that ingenuity isn't their primary focus. It's the same reason why ENTJs and ESTJ are not in the highest tier despite the fact that they are generally scene as highly intellectual types.

INTP here. The 'disadvantage' of being in the genius category of life, for me, is that people usually do not see it, Possibly because it does not manifest in a tangible way),....They mostly see someone who is "different", "weird",....so I act 'normal' in superficial encounters and for those in my circle who do not understand the energy field that I operate in. HOWEVER, I agree with one of your viewers, who said that we all have genius, in one way or another. I have found that to be mostly true. I would like to see a video on the genius of each personality type. BTY thanks. I enjoy your offerings.

Most people have a hostile-inferiority complex! This is often linked to low intelligence. And, yes, society isn't built to cultivate intelligence and empathy, instead has been corrupted by the evil-manipulators of the world, e.g. ESFJ and ESTJ-NARCISSIT! It was built for these evil bunch (NPD/cluster-B or not, ESJ are petty, objectifying and manipulative, i.e. views others as objects. 😤 ISTP + ISFP breed with ESJ narcissits and are often 'flying monkeys'. They are a Judas Iscariot, and they endanger the greater-good! They are best terminated, then move to the ESJ'S to BRUTALLY exterminat! Lastly, a European ESFJ likely invented racism! 😤😤😡

Top two tiers, one S and seven Ns. Bottom two tiers, one N and seven Ss. So, even though I am a lowly Sensor (ISFP), I absolutely predicted that this ranking would shake out this way. Does that make me some kind of genius or what? 😒 But hey, at least it makes the N types feel better about themselves, and they need all the help they can get in that area.

Many dismiss me as too friendly to be smart (although I definitely have a cynicism most people miss at first and second glance) but I have a constant desire for a good philosophical/intellectual debate, which few are willing let alone able to give me. I am very aware of where my intelligence hits a wall- I know enough to know I know so little in the grand scheme of things. But I’m no dummy. This whole time we are in is really showing to me the chasm that exists between people of basic intelligence and those without it (who inevitably believe themselves to be far more intelligent than they actually are.) I find it so hard to understand how people cannot see/entertain multiple perspectives at once, nor recognize parallels or patterns. It’s been really baffling to see how few around are actually using their brains at even (to me) basic levels. But then I remember why I choose to homeschool (having been a public school teacher- it’s worse than everyone knows). “All in all we’re just another brick in the wall...” Pink Floyd spoke truth. Thanks for this! It’ll give me a little bounce in my step for today! ENFP

I was specifically referring to the Ne in action in my comment with its crazy abstract connections haha (biased 😉). Something about Ne-Ti is amazing to me. I like Ni doms for the way they can go into depth after making connections while Ne prefers to run wild with it. Not to say either type can't have the other strength! Disclaimer: major generalization follows... I can see why sensors would tend towards the bottom of this list. They tend to be realistic and see things as they ARE in the concrete world which can be a great advantage, of course, living in a concrete world. Intuitives are more likely to branch out from what everyone can see in front of them. Some functions probably lend themselves more towards genius (NT) and creativity (Fi, maybe Se). Ni, Ti, Fi are more likely to be unique and unique with depth. I think Ne, Te, and Se spark ideas. Si, in this regard, is too grounded and Fe is largely about mirroring and connecting with what people are. Also, looking at the way my sister thinks compared to myself. She sometimes views herself as extremely smart BECAUSE she’s in med school. She sees herself as correct on issues because she believes the “experts,” but doesn’t know how to analyze the information well. She is a hard worker and can memorize facts, but she is not comprehensive in interpreting them. Her framework is very solid and based on personal experience. I am more (more, definitely not perfectly) fluid and objective. One last point on this... two people can be correct, but one can be correct because they happen to be repeating someone who happens to be right or because they’ve logically reasoned through it.

You have such a great observation of "intelligence". i like that you compared "Objective" and "Mirrored" thinking, I'm more likely to analyse the reason behind a way of doing something, wheras my sister will quite literally do it based off of others' past actions. We still get to the same point, because I give in and leave my brain in standby mode. I don't want to claim that it makes me a genius however, because I'm a modest INFP. It's unfortunate that people take these videos too seriously though, because I think individuals have the capability to be gifted regardless of their functions. We just need open minded-ness. Yes, even heavy Si users can be openminded, I've seen it live in action.

TBH the loneliness of the infj (im with you) can feel excruciating because we just see the world in such a unique way. I know i'm inclined to say we're the smartest type because we can just read people on a different level, but the truth is genius has so many nuances that that's just an ignorant thing to believe, albeit not easy to ignore. I consider the ability to see things in an innovative way to be genius, and wouldn't take this list too seriously! My ENFP best friend helps me with different kinds of creative things and brings a freshness of ideas that help me grow and see different possibilities, so it's definitely either or personally.

@@edwardzhou8590 Aside from the fact that I believe the concept of calling anything genius is derrogatory to inflict upon anything within a larger cosmic coexistence. My perspective on it, in the technical experiential sense, is that Ne doesn't have ideas on its own, it's just perpetually collecting and borrowing, where Ni is more of an independent unique idea generation process. That's just my technical perspective, because if defined genius to me is more of coming to original conclusions. But I don't really care about what is considered "genius" or not. It's all genius. And to be honest, because I feel like I'm constantly being called upon by these types for ideas on what to do next, I really see their "genius" as a biproduct of my own.
