As for gift cards, you can use them on ANYTHING! In the year leading up to our Disney trip, we always ask for Disney gift cards for birthday and Christmas presents and then use them on our trip. Saves a lot of money

That last bit about people fighting for a spot to watch the fireworks made me laugh. A woman set her kids in front of me and my siblings even though we were in front. Their mom told them in Spanish to pretend they didn't speak English if someone tried to move them. They didn't know my mom knew Spanish and she calmly told the woman to move her kids.....or they'd see their mom get smacked down for being rude. She left reeeeal quick after that.

Recently went to WDW. My partner got our tickets and I got tickets for my nieces. When trying to get Rise of the Resistance boarding passes, he was quick on the draw, but I was not. We explained our situation to a cast member at the queue and they were very helpful. As she put it “BB8 has cleared the girls for boarding”. Hugely grateful for her help. This may not work depending on the cast member, but it does not hurt asking if anyone else falls under the same situation we did.

I freeze water bottles half way overnight, then fill the rest with cold water, before going to the beach, etc. Last time at Disney World, we rented a condo on a lake, gorgeous, big, maybe 15 minutes away, so of course, I could do this. We rented a minivan and drove down there from NY because we didn't want to put our three dogs in boarding. It was a lot nicer of a trip overall than on a previous trip where we stayed at the Carib Beach (my parents were able to dog-sit then).

We loved the dining plan. We went in 2019, 2 adults and 2 kids age 2. The kids got to eat off our plates or get kid meals, and having everything paid for ahead of time was really great for us. We also had a cast member relative who had a few meals with us, we had cancelled our sit down lunches for 2 of our 4 days so were able to use the extra credits for her, she was super appreciative because we took her to several restaurants she wouldn't have gotten to go to otherwise, like the poly dinner show.

AJ does a great job--love the soothing voice and inflections along with her personal insights--very informative. Disney, however, is becoming a drag. I have gone with my 8 year old almost every year of her life (going as a toddler is not advisable--nor fun i would think). The planning they make you go thru and the prices you pay used to be worth it---now, they have jumped the shark. It is not fun to plan a trip anymore--it is a soul draining chore. If you don't get in the "10 second" window---on many items like rides and restaurants (which are becoming rides)--you are out of luck. So I pay over $5k for a 7 day visit and don't come close to the experience I want. No, Disney that will not work. There needs to be more spontaneity to this process where if it rains you run over to Space Mountain and hardly anyone is in line...(old example I know)--now it is all based on your phone. Done, all planned (to include food). It is ridiculous. I am planning a different trip for next year--there are plenty of choices. I hope Disney realizes this soon.

We looked EVERYWHERE in Magic Kingdom for a phone cord to purchase and they do not have them. Finally spoke with a cast member and our only option was to get a fuel rod which comes with the phone hookups. That whole experience stressed me out. This was 2018 so I don't know if they have cords for purchase now or not, but don't rely on that. Double check your bag for your cords before you leave the hotel!

If I could upvote this 1000 times, I would. @@Showtunediva I've said several times when Disney was doing reduced capacity and following all the recommendations, that I would feel a lot safer at Disney World than at my local grocery store. It was getting *to* WDW that worried me. Now Disney scares me at least as much as an airport, so even driving there is off the table. They really missed their chance to distinguish themselves from Universal; they could have been the safe park, that cared more about their guests' safety, while Universal was the reckless one.

If it scares you then don’t go. It’s been almost two years (with mass vaccinations), and it’s time to move on and stop chasing a carrot on a stick. Especially in a place like Disney where you’re surrounded by thousands of people from all over the place, a mask doesn’t serve much of a purpose besides providing your own mental comfort. I choose not to live my life in fear, and I’m going to Disney in a week and I’m so excited! Everybody is capable of making their own choices, especially young and healthy people. Thanks DFB for all the great info and vids…. we love this channel and appreciate all your hard work and details👍🏼. 👎🏼👎🏻 DisneyWorld for taking out airport buses and handling baggage(did DFB mention this part in any vids?), having huge price increases across the board(parking at hotels, park entrances, food, etc), making planning so much harder than it was before with now needing park reservations and special passes for certain rides and at a certain times, and reducing more benefits from staying on property like Extra Magic hours! Uh what happened to the future of using the bands for everything, that was the direction Disney was moving and now all cell phones? What is Disney thinking?! We truly loved and obsessed over our Disney vacays but most of the benefits are now gone😭🤬. Soul crushing to say the least! But once we made it back to stroller parking she informed us that she wanted to ride “the spooky ride” again. The rest of the trip she kept talking about “the spooky ride.” This was huge because she really didn’t talk much at all. The ride had broken her, to the point where she was now verbal to everyone. I love you DFB. And I love Disney. And I know Disney very well. And the best advice I can give is really quite simple but unrealistic. Move to Orlando if you really love Disney. Or at least move within two hours of Disney. We live in West Palm Beach. A 2 Hour Dr. The only way Disney makes sense for us financially, is to buy Disney annual passes. We can go up early Saturday. Spend all day at one park. Go get a cheap hotel off property. And then Sunday morning go to Disney Springs and then go home. Knowing that we could return next weekend if we want. And sometimes we do just that.

One thing to note about staying until park close if you aren’t staying onsite - if it is a special event like Halloween it will be impossible to get an Uber or Lyft. This happened to me in August 2019 and I had to find a cast member to help me call Mears for a $50 cab ride back to my hotel 😭

Began as a 6-year-old using those evil A-E ticket books at DL. Was wonderful when those ticket books were replaced with a single admission ticket for all attractions. Early years at WDW were glorious, a popular restaurant might need a same-day reservation from a kiosk at EPCOT's entrance. Now, reservations needed for about everything, plus endlessly long lines, everywhere. Making dining reservations months in advance seems like a plot of a Twilight Zone episode. Next are ever skyrocketing outrageous costs. I enjoy spontaneity, but that is impossible at WDW or DL, nowadays. Disney visits just seem to get less and less fun each year, bummer. Maybe one last visit to enjoy a 2-night trip on a star cruiser?

This was the video I’ve been looking for I’ve been watching for maybe the last couple months. I have never even been to Disney nor have I been to Florida. I’m planning a trip in July 2022 (yes Im sure the weather will be wild) from Sunday to Friday and I planned on saving seventy two hundred but after this I added maybe another fifteen! Maybe even more since you said Disney’s prices are going up. I looked at what the prices are now I haven’t even bought the tickets yet! just needed to get an idea of what I’m looking at. Appreciate the help

We haven’t been to DW in a few years but every time we priced our meals vs dining plan, dining plan was much more expensive. What I mean by priced, is I had reservations everywhere we wanted to eat, and chose all our fav restaurants, meals and snacks and priced each one. Like AJ says, unless you eat at most expensive places(if you can get reservations🙄) choose most expensive meals and snacks, it doesn’t work in your favor pocket-wise. Although at one point they were adding in alcoholic beverages as part of plan, and I didn’t price this option. Now if you like prepaying for your meals, and don’t mind added expense go for it. Another option is buying disney gift cards and putting them on your disney room credit when you check in, for ppl staying on property, unless Disney changed that option too🤷🏻‍♀️. When on a tighter budget….My spouse and I usually get joffrey coffee 😋, & have some groceries delivered prior to check-in(if that’s still allowed) for most mornings, and we split one quick-service meal, and get one big meal a day that we pick at a sit-down restaurant. We share some snacks so we get to taste more things. And do 1-2 character meals. This really cuts food budget. We still enjoy ourselves.

Spending the equivalent of one semester’s worth of college tuition and doing the equivalent time of research and planning for a semi-eventful Weekend is exactly why I have no interest in going to Disney. The only people I’ve met that are Disney park die hards who’ve gone more than a couple times have wealthy parents or spouses. It’s unreal how people justify spending the money on these parks.

I fully expect Disney to adopt digital menu boards so that they can apply surge pricing to foods as well. When most of the menus are on the app or use QR code’s it’s all most all done already. They just need to change out the signs at the locations. And thank you for the reminder on dehydration. I once threw up in the bushes at Hollywood Studios because the heat index was 110 and I had heat exhaustion. I ended up laying on the floor on One Mans Dream until the CM made me get up. It took me 2 days to feel normal again. It was miserable. Definitely drink that free water!!

We went during the last week of January and wore shorts most of the time. No humidity to keep us in our room.
