I love that Kodaka made the game exactly how he wanted. Danganronpa is the only series that could get away with so many different themes and tones and twists, and I’m glad the original creator’s creativity was not held back.

Oh they tried, oh how they tried. As you can see in the question about the epilogue, they wanted to remove the epilogue but Kodaka didn't back down. I imagine there were other details they may have tried, and failed, to remove. Kodaka just has too much influence in the company at this stage since Danganronpa is one of the big money makers,so they can't just outright refuse him.

I also like it when a story seems to go randomly or subverses your expectations. he knew everyone knew hope vs despair was the theme and that enoshima junko was behind it. so only a different ending would satisfy the fans. specially after the plot twists from the previous games. the point is to end the killing game so this was truly the right ending; i think. had he gone again for the expected ending, everyone would just say "its danganronpa: kill your friends for 5 chapters, then win with the power of friendship". i believe this was the only right ending.

I liked that Kodaka handled the executions in V3 because the executions 1-4 in dr2 really annoyed me. And i really like that Kodaka made the ending he wanted to make instead of just pleasing the fans :3 Ouma analysis hype :D

I completely agree with Kodaka's viewpoints on V3's ending. Danganronpa was never created to be a game of fluff and happiness, and the ending kind of helped that resurface :)

Kodaka's stance on the reception of the ending actually makes me respect him even more. I love the games, but I wasn't a fan of V3's ending. The fact that he knew the backlash would probably happen but did it anyways shows how serious he is about his games and his vision.

Zate 560 i assumed the fact that he did look like that more people would like him. he kinda of reminded me of the fan favorite character of undertale, sans, so because of that i first assumed he’d be a fan favorite. turns out thats one of the reasons hes less popular.... guess undertale didnt age well with fans. besides that i think the main reason hes unpopular is the little amount of attention he was given in-game. same goes for mahiru, whos also very underrated. but unlike mahiru i feel like ryoma was killed off too early, i was hoping he’d get some time to realize he does indeed have things left to live for; the people around him. as long as that happened, i woulda been less sad if he died after that. people dying when they’re willing to die is honestly sadder than those dying when they didnt want to die for some reason

V3's cast is from different schools and different classes so there's no way to know what year they're in Also, let's be honest... unless it's a student/teacher relationship, or a significant age gap, adult female/teen male relationships rarely are going to raise flags unless the parents of the teen make a stink.

kodaka welcomes the backlash for the ending because he knows its actually required, and thats whats so clever about it imo, the ending was designed to split opinions as its hard not to be on the audiences side to continue the series, yet to win the game you have to accept that its possibly the end of danganronpa itself, just one thing i want to point out to panicking fans though is that since its technically the 53rd game theres always the possibility of games that take place before it, and since this game was all about lies theres also the chance tsumugi was lieing about everything

That's only a thing in the localization. The original dialogue always uses their full surname. In fact, it sounds weird for Shuichi to call him Kiyo since Shuichi is extremely polite to the point he even calls Kaede and Maki by their surnames for most of the game (the only person he calls in first name basis is Kaito). This even plays into Kaede's love hotel scene where she insists to be called Kaede instead of Akamatsu and then blushes when he does.

its because of localization. Saihara calls them by their surname like (Akamatsu san, Kibo kun, Shinguuji kun). It's the same for other games like Hinata didnt use honorifics (san,kun) to everyone and Naegi calls others by honorifics. Also Id like to point out Angie is the only one who calls everyone by their first name.

Danganronpa is a good example of a game series that doesn't care about backlash for their decisions but just a game that wants to make their own story no matter how many people hate it. And that's a good thing, I love Danganronpa even if some of the endings and twists were dumb. It's my favorite game to this day. Danganronpa will always have a special place in my heart.

I was initially upset with V3’s ending, but the more I thought about it, the more I felt that it actually suits one of the messages of the overall series. The ending being up for interpretation is saying that only you can choose to what you want to do, what you want to believe in. In the first game, everyone willingly chose to vote against Junko and leave the school, even if everything she said about the outside world was true. In the second game, everyone made the choice to activate the Forced Shutdown Command to not only defeat Junko, but also to create a new future for themselves because only their own choices can influence their own futures. And now, in V3, the characters have to decide if Tsumugi was lying or not about whether anything they knew was real. In a way, it’s sort of like a meta-commentary on that exact message. Even if this is fiction, in the end, choosing what is true or not is entirely up to you.

I liked Tsumugi a lot more after the game when there started to be some evidence that she was memory wiped into being the mastermind. And since we're talking about Tsumugi, is it possible she lied about the cause of her cospox, it seems to be real, but the only time we see it is when she does a half cosplay of kaede. Maybe if she had a wig and tried to act like her, she wouldn't have broken out with it. Just a thought

I read that Kodaka got a bit upset after hearing Rantaro's VA do his lines. Kodaka loved it so much that he wanted Rantaro to live longer but since he was too far into the script he had no choice but to leave it as it is.

I kinda felt like they shouldn’t have added the epilogue to the game. It feels a bit like they’re trivializing everything that had just happened by allowing survivors. I mean sure I absolutely love the characters but I think letting them die would’ve been more satisfying. It also opens up the possibility of a sequel, which is a whole other can of worms... do I want one? Maybe. Do we need one? Probably not... overall though NDRV3 was by far my favorite in the series, and I have very few criticisms of it as a whole.

I find it hilarious how Kodaka and the whole team do so much just because they can. Like for the second game, they told him he could make it in the same style as the first so he gives them an entire island. They make a joke and hey boss look who I just hired. They kill off characters because they’re sick of looking at them and Kodaka writes in Monomi getting beaten up to vent his personal frustration. And in this one he just wants his fan base to fight each other and that’s just hilarious to me.

Spoilers for Trigger Happy Havoc... #10 - Sakura didn't drink the energy shake with laced poison. She drank the poison straight out of the poison container. Hina replaced the poison container with an empty protein can to make it look like someone poisoned Sakura.

Kodaka has not said anything to confirm this,only that he's taking a break and has given Spike Chunsoft his blessing to create more Danganronpa content. Whether this means he won't work on the series ever again is a good question, but considering he spent almost 2 years writing V3 it's safe to say he wouldn't work on another one for a good number of years.

Honestly, it's better if Kodaka leaves the franchise. He's becoming way too dependent on tropes, and he doesn't really like going out of his comfort zone when it comes to writing.

Congratulations about going full-time! Also I would recommend streaming DDLC, its a shorter game and there are lots of Easter eggs throughout the game that you might miss but highly committed fans would notice, but do whatever is easiest. Also looking forward to how you handle v3 character analysises after the whole big reveal at the end
