2 x BW in deadlift and 1.5 x BW in the squat are my goals for this year ✊

Get some! Every time I get close to two times body weight squat I end up getting a little bit heavier haha so I'm going to keep chasing although I'm a lot closer with the bar in my elbows. Make it make sense 😭😭

Goals for this year is to get stronger and fill out the -93kg class as lean as I can. Current numbers -> Goals: SQ: 220kg -> 250kg BP: 150kg -> 165kg DL: 240kg -> 270kg BW: 90kg -> 93kg I know probably unrealistic, but I’m too motivated this year, so will see how it goes. Going to update this every 3 months if possible (if I remember).

Thinking like an athlete is one thing I consistently lose track of over time. Always consistent. Always working hard. Always holding myself slightly back because of poor weekly decisions regarding diet and alcohol. Let's be better. 🙌

Guys! "have realistic goals" is what actually motivated me to follow real numbers and not get beat up by not managing to hit new PRs. You inspired me to make my own channel, where I document my progress, as a normal person. Thank you for inspiring content and for sharing your experience 🙏

2023 was the year I PR’d every lift except my back squat. First three days of January I PR’d my double and triple in the BS and today I’m going for a single, which I haven’t PR’d in 5 years. All I did was train what I wanted, and when I lost interest I pushed to PR something else. Eventually as all of these lifts got higher, so did my snatch and clean and jerk. My sessions are 45 minutes to an hour, I don’t do long sessions with 5x5 anymore, generally only a top set in the snatch and clean and jerk, and don’t really pull anything heavier than my lifts. It’s fun, and feels like a hobby again. Making more progress and having more fun is a win on all sides for me. Can’t wait to see what I can snatch now that I’ve added 20 kilos to my back squat.

My goal for the year, i think realistic? 70kg snatch and 100kg clean and jerk. I'm 70kg, only started weightlifting 4 months ago, can do 50kg power snatch, haven't tried maxing out my clean and jerking, but did it till 70kg.
@carpetgymolylifting10 ай бұрын
As a 16 year old self taught I did a 72kg snatch first year and a 90kg clean and jerk first year...at around 80kg bodyweight...definitely possible if you can figure out everything within a good time...my second year I got a 85kg snatch and 102kg clean and jerk and for my third year I'm wanting a 115kg snatch and 137kg clean and jerk...kinda extreme but I don't care it's possible lol

Seems a bit ambitious, putting 20 and 30kg on your snatch and C&J in a year, respectively, is no joke. I guess it depends on your age/sex/nutrition/programming/mobility/dedication... If everything is favourable, maybe it can be realistic. Based on what the average joe achieves, probably not though.

Biggest lesson learned from the year just gone is not being scared to take a day off or make a workout easier if I’m sore but want to do it. I do BJJ twice a week. Muay Thai twice a week and reduced my gym time from 3-4 to twice a week. Both full body sessions doing a squat, a hinge a press and a pull. Usually swap 2 times a week but lately I’ve been swapping one squat for more assistance moves like a lunge or split squat.

I've just came back to training weightlifting, been away from the sport for the past 4 years but been on and off training hypertrophy and sometimes a little bit of powerlifting, my goal is to go back to the decent technique I had before stopping and actually enjoy weightlifting as opposed to pressuring myself to achieve results when I was competing.

Great video to kick off 2024, but only useful if you FOLLOW THE ADVICE. For me, writing down the applicable tips and determining the timeframe is the best way to ensure follow through. Some goals are long term (body composition, having fun) while others are monthly or daily, so finding a way to reinforce changes in your training is the best way toward progress.
