The US is nuts! This wouldn't have gotten to this stage in any of the Western European countries I've lived, and neither in Australia... I don't think Americans quite realize how insanely bad their healthcare system is! He would have been seen to, and treated for free here. But hey, freedom and rights right? Except for free healthcare, that's not a God given right in the US...

Its not just that. There are ways around the insurance issue in extreme circumstances. Ive found that in a lot of these cases people have extreme anxiety/fear over going to the doctor. So much that it prevents them from even getting it looked at. Seemed like he has a decent job and could have taken out a private insurance policy.
@rdizzy1
@rdizzy1 3 ай бұрын
@@JJ_5289 The issue is that even WITH insurance, you will have to fight to get it covered (because even at this large of a size, they will still call this a non necessary procedure, and try to not cover it), and then if you manage to get it covered, you will still pay out the ass regardless. Average US citizen has less than 1000 dollars in savings, even those with "decent" jobs. Tons of people pay 1000 a month for insurance and never get to use it because they can't afford all the deductibles and copays involved.

Yeah, vet visits can cost a pretty penny, but you’re looking at 1 to 5 thousand for a visit. That’s vastly different than a tumor removal surgery, that can costs several tens of thousands. Let the man have a pet. Even homeless people will sacrifice a lot to keep their pets happy and healthy.

I have the same scar, from the same procedure, done 40 years ago. Mine was a parotid tumour the size of a walnut, and it was beginning to cause partial facial paralysis. I was blessed to live in the UK and take advantage of free healthcare. Today, the scar is almost invisible, and I have most of the sensation from the trigeminal nerve - just slight loss of feeling in my earlobe. I can't imagine the suffering this lovely man went through without complaint.

This poor man. That is just crazy and I loathe medical people that deny treatment due to lack of insurance or general apathy saying it’s “cosmetic”. The UK NHS won’t pay for anything any more to help patients unless they are illegal immigrants. I have skin issues that I requested a dermatology appointment 3 years ago and I am still waiting, despite the websites all saying the waiting lists are a maximum of 18 weeks! My skin is getting more infections by the day and I can’t see myself reaching the top of the list before I die (I’m 51!!) as they just don’t care. It’s just insane all this wait as I can’t believe there are so many people in my catchment area that need to see a dermatologist. On chasing it up they have told us that it’s at least a 56 week wait. Our NHS that used to actually help people now do nothing - no referrals, can’t get any appointments, different doctors every other week so there is zero continuity of care. It’s so unfair. I hope this man is now fully recovered.

What an incredible transformation. The end result is amazingly tidy given the size of the tumour and how stretched the skin was. Drs Osborne and Hamilton are truly skilled. Tim's eyes and face look so much brighter after the surgery. What a shame no one could have helped him before it got to this point. Not just that but that they told him it was just a cyst and not to be worried. I understand that cysts are technically cosmetic because they don't threaten your life, but when something gets to a certain size it is obviously a major strain on someone and they deserve to be treated regardless.

In America if you've got no insurance then there's no options. You used to be able to go to the er and they'd treat you but now if it's not life or death they say buh-bye. Money. The average cost of a doc (not a specialist) is $375 to $800 dollars. Insurance is often unavailable for most because it’s an average $850 a month. Plus the copays for the doc and any surgeries can get into the $1,000’s of dollars after insurance.

@taraspikeyhelton back in the late 2000s, this would have been a few hundred at most to remove, especially when he said it still wasn't very big. There is no reason it couldn't have been done sooner, even to someone who "doesn't have much money".

He should've became a citizen of Mexico and immigrated to the US illegally. He could've gotten it done earlier

I think it is the other way around. The universe can be very cruel. God brought you to Dr. Osbourne to resolve your issue.

God can be so cruel? Perhaps the US healthcare insurance system did him a cruel injustice.

@@elizabethlewis3509 how about God preventing the tumor in the first place? A God worth of praise would be a God who gives tumors and cancers to pedophiles and rapists and mass murderers. That would be a God I could promote.
