He has straight As in school making high honor roll. He is going to get a college education even if he does not run for a college team much like Allison Felix did by going to USC just to hit the books while running pro. He is 16 and averaged 44.73 for three 400 meter races over four days. He has tremendous anaerobic capacity. He will run his guts out for both relay teams and they are absolutely going to use him in some capacity on both.

That was really unheard of when she pulled that gansta move. 1st person in track and field to ever graduate high school and turn pro. Turned down a track scholarship to USC and accepted the $1 million contract from Adidas and still went to school at USC after Adidas offered to pay her tuition while running professionally internationally and graduated in 3 years. She had strong family support and her brother's best friend was her manager. She did not have no low quality people around who may potentially eff her over and she comes from a spiritual background. Quincy can pull off that same hat tricks. His parents are high quality people and New Balance may restructure his contract once it's time for him to graduate. We have the World championships next year so we may see him again. Would that be nuts if he goes through a growth spurt by the time Worlds come around? If so, he is going to give those 400m competitors a run for their money and be primed to go come LA028.

I totally wanna see him on the mixed 4x400, and possibly final. The funny part of the final for me was when he realized the race was getting away from him he started making his move and started picking folks off 1 by 1 realizing he has to be part of the top 6 to be even considered for the relay. As the others started to tie up he picked up momentum. He was able to clip 3 of them. I've been in the sport for years and I know damn well the "string pullers" didn't want that young man to embarrass the "face" of the 400! So, wake the hell up and realize it's politics to this shit, and the politics kept Quincy from getting the lane assignment he was due in the finals. No more talk!

@suethem talk brother! Quincy said in his interview that he acknowledged how tough it would be to make some noise in lane 2 but he was determined to make something happen anyway and he overcame their political bullshit in spades. He earned that 6th place and would have done even better with a curve less tight but I knew they might try to pull some BS like that in hopes of aiding older more established names. He even said himself that politics plays a part in how the USATF handles their business in one of his post competition interviews. This being said, NBC will push to make sure that kid is on the team because he is worth too much money in eyeballs to the network and everyone knows this.🤑

@suethem Quincy is not special in the 55 meter 6.49 , 60 meter, 6.98, 100 meter 10.74 , 200 meter, 21.11 (outdoor but 21.01 indoor) but his 800 meter time of 1:50.44 is indicative of his tremendous anaerobic capacity which allows him to do such an awesome and other-worldly job in the 400 meter dash. The wild part of it is that he looks 16 but, "runs grown man times" and is not 16 looking like he's a guy that's 26. He would not win many state titles in significant track states with those times in distances from 55 meters up to 200 meters but would crush any high school athletes in the country at 400 meters. I would not be surprised to see him split 43 high to low 44 in the 4x400 relay. He will run through a wall for his teammates and you can bet your life on it. I noticed that the older guys have kind of taken a liking to him as Michael Norman and others were coming by and congratulating him during his interview. How can you not love this kid?
@vernonfrance2974
@vernonfrance2974 3 ай бұрын
@suethem You know no such thing because you weren't there for the "string pullers" draw. If anything, they would want Quincy Wilson to do great because he brings much needed attention to track. Everybody loves a fresh face and a wee lad doing OK among the big boys is just the feel good story they need. Besides, the inside lane is perfect for him because the turns are not sharp on the outdoor track and he can gauge how fast he's going by observing the outside lane runners. He loves coming from behind which he showed in the Penn Relays when a relay teammate dropped the baton in two different races and he still got his team Bullis, the victory in one of them.

@@dewaynejeter4728 How would Wilson be an expert on lane assignments or politics in the Olympic Trials? He's only sixteen and has no way to know such things, especially because they are only rumor and innuendo anyway. You are arguing from both sides of the fence first saying there "was political bullshit in spades." How would he or you know that? Then you say he is good for NBC ratings so NBC will push to make sure that kid is on the team". Do you really think NBC cannot make a decent human interest story other than Wilson's? That's their full time job and they are good at it. They do not pick the relay team, the US Olympic Committee does that. They've done a pretty good job of it over the years too.
