Same setup I have now besides I have an area 13(Bolton) 52v bat with 30ah. I love it and I now am over doubling the distance than I was when I was using the 48v 17ah triangle battery

Oh shit! I live in Clackamas County. I need a close look at a BBSHD and maybe a Cyclone before I get another frame. I need to make a template. Let me know if that's ok.

Dumbbell question here.. I have a stock Sondors. Can you add your old 350w motor to the front rim? #holdmybeer
@bsaryder7 жыл бұрын
And where did you get that front fender?
@johnlange88197 жыл бұрын
bsaryder ya you probably could, although you'd have to get it laced into the rim for about $100. You also have to figure out how your going to power it. I've seen people essentially have to power setups on the bike one throttle, battery, controller for the front motor and another set for the back. I picked up the fenders from lunacycles for $50 plus shipping. Rear fender didn't fit with Michelle ibera RA-5 rack though.

It can be done

Great setup. Can you share the links to the controller and motor that you bought. Also was the controller plug and play with the existing wiring that was off your old controller? I saw on Luna cycles with that motor that the drop outs need to be spread apart wider on a steel frame but Luna states if the SONDORS isn’t steel as the new 2018 are aluminum that it may not fit ? What’s your experience on the install of the motor. Thanks
@JohnnyNerdOut6 жыл бұрын
controller was from velomobileshop the 35 amp one. Motor from Lunacycle 750w bafang rear motor It was plug n play, very easy upgrade. Mine was a 2015 steel sondors and it went very smoothly. you can just simply replace the "guts" of the motor too and make it even simpler.
@Lenny71186 жыл бұрын
JohnnyNerdOut Thanks for replying. My SONDORS X is being factory built with the 500 watt motor and with a 48v battery so I wouldn’t need a battery. My concern would be the controller fitting in the battery compartment, velomobile states that the 35a controller may or may not fit and may need to be placed somewhere else ( I wouldn’t want it outside of the box ). I saw on velomobile they have a 25a controller thats for the SONDORS and for a 750watt motor with the correct plug. The idea of just swapping out the insides of the motors is a great idea. You think it would fit? My bike will have the 7 speed cassette on it to. There’s hardly any videos on the SONDORS and doing upgrades, I found yours to be informative. Was any replacing of plugs required when you did your upgrade ? Thanks

How does this setup affect range?
@johnlange88197 жыл бұрын
Wade Latty it really kills it if I'm hard on the throttle. 10 miles tops range if I ride hard. 20-25 if I only use PAS 1. DEFINITELY worth the trade-off. If I needed it I'd just get a bigger battery for more range.
