@@GustheOttsel This 1619 "project" has been out for over a year now..Back in early 2020, major historical professionals signed a letter and sent it to the NY Times explaining the inaccuracies of the 1619 project. Also other historians whom the "author" reached out to for input on the 1619 project critiqued the main premise in regards to the reason for the revolutionary War. The "author" and the NY times chose not to read those critiques and release it anyways. All this information is out there. The people driving 1619 don't care about the truth. They have an objective to try and change history to push their agenda that America was founded on racist beliefs. I also wanted to address some of the people who are stuck on one side of the issue. If the native Americans were to tell their story it would be the opposite of what is taught in schools today. Ask yourselves why aren't these people included in American society today? It's because of systemic racism. The one's who are responsible don't want to discuss that either. So if the past isn't revenant today. Then like the dinosaur the native's that were here would be slowly taken out of the books of history. Thats why CRT is important. Truth need to be told. To move forward. The illegal discrimination , hate lynchings, Land that was stole. All needs to on the table. We went on a field trip to Bear Paw Battlefield (where Chief Joseph surrendered and gave his infamous speech) in 2nd grade. We went on a field trip to the Fort Belknap Reservation in 6th grade. I also took Native American history in high school. I was very aware of our violent past from history classes in high school. She should not have been surprised of the backlash she received due to this project ! One fact that's swept underneath the rug when it comes to history in this country is that there were five Main Indian tribe that owned slaves the Cherokee tribe was among the biggest they owned over 4,000 slaves reading the history of the Trail of Tears should tell people that, so not only do you have whites that don't want this to come out you also have Native American people that don't want this to come out, that at one time in this countrys history they were part of the problem when it came to chattel slavery in the African American community! And when you add the pieces together it now make sense why the Cherokee Indians are among one of the biggest reasons why the Lumbee Tribe has not been recognized as a native tribe in North Carolina

You probably would be surprised to find out most of the people that gathered up Africans to sell as slaves were…..Other Africans. 👀 It’s still in my opinion the most disgusting practice conjured by man kind. The fist slaves in America were white over 300,000 of them There were 3 million black slaves But white slavery of Europeans to African countries pre dates both by hundreds of years. Over 1 million white Europeans were sold into slavery on the Barbary Coast.

Cash reparations seem inadequate for such a massive scope. How many African-Americans would even be able to qualify by proving their slave ancestry because the records are so thin for enslaved people? Broader community based reparations may make a greater impact to more people, like grants, education, healthcare, and advocacy groups.

Were cash reparations impotent and shortsighted when the Japanese got paid for their internment? What about the payments Jewish people still receive for the Holocaust? Why is it a problem when it's Black folks? Why does it matter what we do with it? It's the least we deserve, after all we have done, and still do, for this country.

@@robertnobles8189 Countries like Britain and France treated ex-slaves poorly and continued to mistreat blacks in their African colonies up until the mid 1900's when they abandoned their African colonies. The British were also responsible for defeating the Zulu Nation. So, saying Britain threatened to "free" slaves during the American Revolution isn't saying much, and most European countries relied heavily on American slaves and sided with pro-slavery southern states during the American Civil War.
