As it's already been said your reviews is really the best in terms of critique to the accuracy. This comparison just reinforce my decision to get the pnso even though the price difference. The paint application being the pain point of eofauna one and that skinny feet feels off putting for me.

Thank you, I am glad I could contribute to your decision making! I thought this one was really warranted. I know lots of people are making a difficult decision because they aren't cheap thanks to all that extraneous rubbish added over the actual price of these wonderful models. I feel puzzled about the forelimb proportions of the trike too. And with the paint application, especially after coming off their really well-painted Atlasaurus. The other option is if you had decided to get the EoFauna, to use the money saved for a repaint to the exact colours you want!

Perfect comparison and very useful (even though my PNSO is already on order). Also, you said that you never reviewed the Eofauna because you got it late and didn’t think your review would add any value. That is patently false. Haha thanks as always Michael! Thing is, most people really want to watch only for the models, so if a figure is one they already have, they are likely to skip it. Because of lack of time, I would rather get to some models I've been dying to show you all even more for various reasons. That said, I _will_ be reviewing a couple of old figures because they are just too good, or because there is just too much great scientific info behind, or from a slightly different perspective. So look out for those in the new years! Have a very Happy Christmas! 😊

I already have the Eofauna triceratops, the other color scheme. I preffered that one because of the frill color scheme which looks very atractive for a male. I just don't like that much the blueish limbs. Ofc I'm getting my PNSO Triceratops, which should be arrive in a few days. I really want PNSO to release an Styracosaurus and Pentaceratops and ofc my most anticipated Acrocanthosaurus.

@thomasmonroe79473 жыл бұрын
I like elements of both sculpts and I will be getting the eofauna fully intending to do my own repaint and I’m considering the PNSO, as well, with my only real reservation being the brow horn angle. I need to google up a known skull elements chart to decide if the angle falls in line with what’s currently known. Not disagreeing with what they did, I honestly just don’t know. The angle and length of horn would seem to preclude low browsing unless, while scarfing down veggie yummies, the horns are gouging up earth, loosening more yummies. I’m not, at all, sold on that idea. Just a perspective on…the perspective of the horns. If, on the other hand, it browsed on mid-height shrubbery, that might work. But, again, without more upward tilt in the horns, I feel the animal would be constantly tangled up in any vegetation it was snacking on with a whole herd of Triceratops spending a lot of time disentangling their faces from creepers, shrubs and vining plants. Just seems horns, lifted at a slightly elevated angle, would leave a clear path to grazing or browsing. Again, I’m not the expert so I will be doing some homework. Other than the horn question, PNSO did a fantastic job.
@DinosDragons3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your considered comment Thomas! Repainting your EoFauna is an excellent idea! I wish I had the knowledge and skills to do that. How many models would I have elevated! Horns-wise I think you'll find that there is quite a variety to possible angles, and of course you should do that research to make sure it's something you're really comfortable with. I have also heard of people modding their models in addition to the paint, so if you know how to do that or can pay someone to do that for a reasonable price, it's also an option. I think it's quite probable that these dinosaurs had different levels they could be feeding from. From what I recall, the few suspected grass samples from the Cretaceous were short, but if grasses grew anywhere near as long as today, who's to say that the top of the grass wasn't something that couldn't be eaten. Different individuals probably ate opportunistically based on what they could reach.

Loved this comparison video. But it would be amazing to see if you compare that new CollectA Deluxe Triceratops with these beauties as well (This is just my opinion). Because these are the only new, updated, scientifically accurate and beautiful figures out there at the moment. Either way loved this idea, my dear good sir. Please keep up the good work, wish you all the best ❤

Haha by the time I get that CollectA, most of you would probably have had it for weeks! From what I can see of the release image, it looks great, even having the nippling in the Lane skin speciments. However from the angle I'm seeing, it seems the left nanus has only one vesitigial digit, not two. I doubt they would make such a glaring mistake however so it might just be a matter of angles! You have a great Christmas and Happy New Year Rajitha!

I think some companies are afraid that dinosaurs with more conservative looking color schemes will not sell as well, hence you get things like this Eofauna Triceratops and it's even stranger looking counterpart. I would buy it if I could paint.. The face reminds me of a mime. Really odd. PNSO is definitely the winner.
@DinosDragons2 жыл бұрын
The weird thing is, doing this paint scheme really turned off a lot of people. I think if they had gone with a middle of the road approach, between conservative and this, then it could have appealed to a much wider range of people. Still, I laud them for being willing to experiment, because their earliest dinosaur was supremely boring in colouration, something that many people don't like. Still EoFauna is so good that they probably could survive little things like this in a way more inferior sculpts could not. 😁

Wow... that is going to be one expensive investment then! The most I've ever done is to repaint, and even then it usually costs me several hours of overtime to pay for. They are both among the most beautiful Triceratops models in the market but my preferences are definitely for the one from PNSO, I think the PNSO model is made much more natural even though the pose of the Eofauna one is really beautiful. I appreciate the observation you made regarding the prices of the models, unfortunately for those who live in the EU like me the price of the PNSO is quite high, but this is mainly due to the increase in customs duties and the fault is certainly not of the PNSO indeed. Personally I'll wait for the next discounts on Aliexpress, I can't miss the new Doyle and also the beautiful Iguanodon model just released :)

Thank you Massimiliano! I was aware many people find it a struggle to decide if they should get the PNSO, especially if they already had the EoFauna. I thought this comparison would show them clearly if they wanted to pay so much more. And I have no doubt many would, because as you noted, the PNSO is really something. It sucks that you have so much added to the cost of a PNSO. Shipping, middle-men, VAT. It's like going to work. @@DinosDragons I'm actually surprised you didn't really mention that more. With the argument of the front-facing area of the frill being colourful/contrasting - and therefore likely *very* important in a Triceratops' life - you'd have thought Eofauna would have done a better job highlighting this focal point. I am almost angry at the result! Almost. I know it can be 'fixed', and as you say, it's an impressive sculpt otherwise :)

Thank you Pez! I don't do many comparisons because of lack of time and also they don't really let me focus on what I really want to do, appreciate and showcase a model and then talk about some of the science behind that. These are not cheap models, especially for my viewers in the EU, and I hope to give them every piece of information they can get to help make a financially heavy decision. What happened to pnso prices? I bought 2 models 2 years ago and now the price is double. I can buy eofauna Triceratop at 20 euro... For pnso the price is at least 3 times higher. Too much. I ll go for eofauna. Love pnso model but prices become ridiculous.
@DinosDragons2 жыл бұрын
There are many factors, but the most common ones boil down to 1. Middle man costs, since PNSOs are so popular and middleman sellers know they can try to squeeze people out. 2. Shipping costs have increased dramatically because of the fuel situation, as well as the Covid lockdowns. 3. Shipping is usually charged by volume, so if it's a nice box like PNSO uses, rather than just a simple plastic bag like EoFauna, that also contributes to the overall price. 4. Finally, the prices of the PNSOs themselves have increased. But I list this last because in terms of ¥ they haven't really increased a lot. I would suggest if you live near the UK, check EverythingDinosaur's prices first. They often have cheaper prices than Amazon.

It truly is a close battle but I think Eofauna just gets the edge for me. The only real big downside with it is the paintjob which could have been optimized more to make it look less artificial. PNSO's new offering of Doyle is really good sculpt and paint application wise, but that rather dull color palette and heavy price tag does make it suffer quite a bit. It's just my opinion so feel free to disagree but I do prefer Eofauna's Trike because it's more visually striking with still really good sculpted details and on top of that, is very accurate and isn't gonna land a huge blow on your wallet.
@DinosDragons3 жыл бұрын
Oh I definitely agree that the EoFauna trike is awesome! I just wish they had brought the same kind of paint application they had for the Atlasaurus to this; it certainly deserves more! I have to say that PNSO's choice of colour was puzzling, given that the Trike is the flagship Ceratopsian. I think a great way to go for people who decide to stick with the EoFauna is to use the money they save on the PNSO to get their EoFauna repainted!

With so much variety in models and toys and artwork in general, no wonder people are confused what real dinos looked like - including me. Why can't there be a standard dinosaur look for a species. Both these models look like two different animals.
@DinosDragons4 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, that is not possible the way it was about 20 years or so ago, especially as we learn more and more. Even within the same genus, there are different species. Here, the EoFauna is possibly based on the Yoshi specimen, which is still currently given the designation Triceratops _sp_ while awaiting further study and determination of species. It may be an altogether different species. Even within species there is variation between individuals, sometimes astonishing ones. You need only consider that the genus Panthera has five different species, _leo_ (lion), _onca_ (jaguar), _pardus_ (leopard), _tigris_ (tiger), and _uncia_ (snow leopard) and how different _they_ look. Then the differences between Triceratops _horridus_ , _porsus_ , and who knows how many _sps_ seem less obvious. That is forgetting their colouration maybe as different as the difference species of Panthera.
