I would say both are accurate given the variability among individuals. The old Doyle might be a younger individual given the more clearly separated epiossifications, with the new one more blended into the frill margins. It's also a more active pose, and overall the shape agrees more with my image of the Triceratops I've known since young. The new one is a lot less active, being subtly so, has the updated nice skin texture making it more realistic to 1:35, and also has a nice uropatagium, known from Psittacosaurus. I believe some figures have extra claws accidentally painted on the hands. Ultimately, it's up to your individual tastes. Personally if not for the shape and size of the eyes on the old Doyle, I would actually prefer that.

Thank you so much for this excellent video! You are my go-to deciding factor on prehistoric animal models!

That's an awesome responsibility! 😅😅 But thank you, I hope you did manage to get something with the Aliexpress sale!

I love my 2021 Doyle! Me and my sister love his smile that the updated muscle gives him ❤ My friend hates it though as it reminds them of Joker XD

Haha it's always interesting to see how different people react to each model! That's what will always make a model stand out for one person compared to another!

i like the new one more and mostly because of the bulkyness...i hate how skinny the old doyle is in general the only thing i like about the old doyle is how colorful the frill is in comparison to the rest of the body something i would love to see in the new doyle...but at least pnso torosaurus has that feature
@DinosDragons2 жыл бұрын
Yes I would say that for many people, the new Torosaurus would fulfill all they can want from a ceratopsian, with all those unique features that we love. The old Doyle has a much more dynamic pose, and a more classical look, but unfortunately the eyes _are_ a little large and perhaps too high up. Otherwise, both are really worthy and I don't think anyone could be unhappy with whichever they decide to get! 😊

What do you think between Nanmu's Stegosaurus and PNSO? Does Nanmu lag far behind in terms of scientific accuracy?
@DinosDragons2 жыл бұрын
Nanmu embraces a JP aesthetic, so they can't compare to the PNSO models which were sculpted by or supervised by a paleoartist/ sculptor. They _are_ however very high quality figures, in terms of detail and paint apps generally, and if you like JP dinosaurs, they are a good choice!

Thanks for this! A very useful and as always interesting comparison.

Maybe one's a T. horridus, and the other's a T. porosis!

You didn't mention anything about anatomical realism. The old Doyle looks like a caricature, while the new one is a very realistic, life like sculpture which is a massive plus.
@dudupassos39142 жыл бұрын
I still prefer the old one. I really like the pose. And I see both being extremely realistic. As mentioned, they are different stages.
@DinosDragons2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, caricature how? I grant that the old Doyle has eyes too big and perhaps sitting a little too high, that might give it a cartoony vibe. Other than that, much of the anatomy seems within the ranges of fossils or images of fossils I've seen.

the old one has better pose and has a pattern
@DinosDragons2 жыл бұрын
Actually I wish I had an extra new one. I would have it repainted like the old version of Doyle! As you say, it's also a striking pattern!

The older triceratops model kinda looks like triceratops prorsus where's the new model resembles the triceratops horridus species
