This was a big deal for me Lee, thank you so much! I graduated high school a stone's throw from there to the immediate south in '71. My head was deep into learning all I could from Sweet Baby James, and Led Zeppelin 3! AND in the latter half of our senior year, at the same time I remember bonding heavily with my then girl friend over another masterpiece YOU played on: Tapestry. Good times.

leland i so love your tour vids. i have been a fan of lyle and his large band for fahever - first saw them at emigrant lake in oregon - i think julia sang closing time with lyle and francine reed i think blew me away. next saw lyle in bakersfield in the late 2000s. hope to see this version of the large band again. thanks again for these glimpses of the venues and the band.

This place has been near and dear to my heart since the first time I played here in the early 90's right after I moved up from Studio City. I've seen it go through many changes and have both performed in and seen a lot of shows here. I've also done media training for the senior officers of the winery here during the pandemic. For 17 years, we lived about 3 miles away and with all the loud bands like ZZ Top, Styx, Chicago, and the like, the only act I actually heard in my back yard one summer night was Jackson Browne which still surprises me but the wind must have been just right that night. It's sad to see the changes I saw in your video with that empty warehouse that used to be filled with wine barrels as recently as two years ago. And now that LiveNation has taken it over, they've managed to squeeze every last dime out of every inch of the place and now do what they do everywhere, gouging for parking , tickets, and concessions. (I didn't know Charles was working for them whom I know.) The grounds are still beautiful thank god but I don't know for how much longer as the future of the place is still up in the air from what I read in the papers. Anyway, thanks for documenting what may be part of the last days of this wonderful place though I hope not......

I loved the tour of Chateau ste Michelle from the musicians perspective. I've been watching shows there since 1994! I have the time this year to work security at the venue. ‘The show must go on!’ My mother always pined to be a dancer and would take me to floor shows; she was charmed by the traveling life of entertainment. She later would take me to the side and whisper it was hard life, more as an after thought much like ‘water under the bridge’. Instead she was saddled with me, my older brother, and my father; ‘Sometimes you're the windshield Sometimes you're the bug’, (Mark Knopfler). Yogi! It is a pleasure to see you walking more freely, and I do remember the hand made art glass work from last year. Weather at Woodinville, Washington: 87 F and 48% humidity. And yes developers are ‘take the money and run capitalists’ and not as appreciated as Leland Sklar’s bass playing.

Hey lee. I was thinking about what Brad had to say about your playing. He is right though and that he can rely on you for giving him a steady and rock solid bass line must be a real breather for him. Maybe he had experiences where the bass player was not that good. He has said it on more than one occasion. If you have a rhythm section where you can really rely on. It’s such a joy to play along with it. And therefore did Lyle choose you and Russ. I think every band member can vouch for that. You can be humble about that but foremost you MUST be proud of yourself. You have a legendary bass ( Frankenstein) but it’s you that makes that bass legendary. Greetings old friend/fart😉🙏🏻👋🏻 Ps. I liked yogi’s remark about you seeing mace practicing somewhere during the tour and you can record a bit of it. If you’re THAT good you don’t need to practice. Built on the 1912 estate owned by Seattle lumber baron Frederick Stimson, the winery’s roots date back to the Repeal of Prohibition.
