Japan need a 200 more Type 10 and a lot of Type 16 to defend their islands.

Nope, more airforce and naval forces, that's the most important thing, stop the enemy from even being able to land on Japan, this is why Japan recently bought the Tomahawk cruise missile as well, in addition the type 12 missile has been made, and submarines are being adapted to shoot these in the future as well, the new jet program is coming along as well. The reality is that the ground forces are the lowest priority, no nation can march into Japan, they can only reach Japan by crossing water or air, and thus Japan puts the biggest focus in defending the water and the air, naturally.
Oh hell yeah A vintage UH-1J Or was Japan still producing them until recently

Japan had purchased UH-1J until 2007, just 15 years ago. From 2021, UH-2, the successor to UH-1 in operation.

UH-1J is an upgraded version of the Huey, the engine or something is upgraded by Kawasaki. These were produced for Japan's military sometime in the late 90's. I don't think any more are being made, however the Japanese forces maintain them and still fly them today. The ground army operates like 124 of them, clearly with proper maintenance it can run a long time. After a few more years they will be replaced, I think it's a general purpose helicopter, Japan is more interested in it's version of the CH-47 however, because it transports so many more men and equipment, this is what Japan needs to jump stuff from island to island, this is why the CH-47 fleet is the most important in fact. In addition to the CH-47, Japan has acquired the Osprey, which can transport 32 soldiers and can fly faster than a standard helicopter, the Osprey is desirable to the Japanese military because of it's speed and ability to land like a standard helicopter, making it very usable for transporting soldiers from island to island. For example the CH-47 max speed is 315km/h, but the Osprey is much faster at over 500km/h. It means if there are two islands 400km apart, and Japan needed to transport troops rapidly, the CH-47 would take 76 minutes, where as the Osprey would take only 48 minutes, that is a very long time when it comes to combat situations, it could mean getting there in time or not getting there in time. Of course the Osprey comes with it's own drawbacks, such as the fact that the Osprey has higher maintenance costs I would assume, since it's a more complicated craft, however it's still worth the cost obviously. I think Osprey would be used to transfer men, while the CH-47 would be used to transport equipment, since the CH-47 would be used to transport Japan's rapid deploy equipment types, since they have built their equipment specifically to fit into the CH-47, such as a type of Toyota super cruiser that the military use, and some missile systems etc. Either way, the UH-1J will be phased out obviously, they are all quite old. The reason standard airplanes or even the huge Kawasaki C2's wouldn't be used, is because these need runways to land, if China just hit the runways with ballistic missile strikes, it would disable the ability to land, so it's an obvious achilles heel to rely on planes. The C2's can indeed release paratroopers and Japan's paratroopers are trained with this big jet, however the jet has to be pretty high to give the paratroopers time to jump out and pull their parachutes, that height then makes it visible with air search radar by China's radar planes. For example if the C2 was flying above Ishigaki and dropping troops, it's true that Chinese surface and even ship based radar couldn't see it even if it was flying at 1500m in altitude. However China has a radar plane that can fly at around 10km in altitude, if it flew this just around it's own coastline, it could basically see anything near Ishigaki that is above 700m high. What it means is that the C2 could be seen by China if China had a radar plane up at the same time, and that radar information could probably track a SAM missile onto the C2. However the Osprey for example can fly as low as a mere 60m, guess how high China's radar plane would have to be to see that? It would have to ascend to about 14km, but that's impossible as it's 4km above it's limits.
