I had a friend do a weekend Vegas trip and stayed up for 72 hours. He is of average intelligence so I'm thinking that this kid who died wasn't quite all their, but it also could of been peer pressure too. Peer pressure + alcohol doesn't mix well.

That Justin kid is stupid. I don't consume alcohol and I like going to the bars with my friends so instead of booze I will have a Red Bull occasionally. Why ban energy drinks, which if I am the designated driver would keep me more alert for driving safely, from bars? The law can only do so much and people should make smart decisions. Banning it from bars because you had a bad experience is ridiculous. Sorry but it is.

I am an older person, but what I don't understand is why these young people cannot dance and have fun without being drunk and/or high. I mean, I drank when I was a teen; I came from an abusive home and I was screwed up. But by the time I was 20 I knew that drinking was not worth it, and I "grew up" and stopped it. What is wrong with young people today that they cannot do anything without drinking? When I go to family parties, I sit and watch all the adults drinking until they look stupid, and puffing away on one cigarette after another. Doesn't anybody care what this does to your body? It is fun to be sober, and dance, and visit with people! Can't anybody just have fun without being under the influence? I am not trying to be judgmental, I truly do not get it.

Hey there! I can understand you don't quite get it, I never did as a kid either. I'm 22 now and sometimes consume alcohol, just to get a bit more loose and a bit more of a party feeling, it's hard to explain. It gives you a bit more energy it makes you care less and it makes a party more fun sometimes. Although I do agree it isn't necessary to have a good time. I don't overdo it, I don't vomit or have memory loss after nights, it's just to get a chill feeling. I am not sure if I can speak for others, but that's why I do it. However, I have mixed alcohol with energy drink once, and they say it has the same effects as cocaïne and I can tell you it felt like it to me as well. I couldn't sleep for that whole night and had trouble sleeping the day after, I felt really bad. Needless to say I'm never doing that again. Anyway, to answer your question: It's culture. It is purely culture. Everyone does it, it's normal. Humans have the need to belong, we want to fit in, join the club. If alcohol would be discovered now it would surely be banned. I can give you many reasons why people consume alcohol, but my reply would be getting too long. Hope you understand a bit more :)

I understand that people want to belong, and do what others do. I drank when I was young. But when you get married, have a job, have kids, to me it is just not worth it to be sick from it. I also think it is very damaging to your health, altho young people don't care about that. I just think it is overboard. People don't just get loose, they get stupid drunk! It is a pain to have to make sure all my friends make it home safely, like I am the parent. Maybe it is because I am older, and I am starting to see friends die, have strokes, get dementia, have heart attacks, diabetes, etc. A lot of it is because of things we have done to ourselves. I like to have fun as much as the next guy. Just today, my husband and I, kids, and grandkids went on a float trip. Only one person got drunk and stoned. The other adults had a couple of beers and were fine. I was proud of myself that I was fit enough to do this, canoe and kayak. I know a lot of people younger than me who could not have done it. But that is because I take very good care of myself. I have seen a video about mixing energy drinks and alcohol, and it said it is very dangerous. So I am glad you are not going to do that anymore! I agree with you, most people seem to overdo it. As I said I never got stupid drunk and I never want to, that just doesn't make sense to me. When people I know tell the next day they puked and forgot what happened that last night I think to myself: Are you really proud of this? Is this what fun is? It has to do something with age as well, ofcourse. When you grow up you start to be more responsible. That and teens underestimate risks of all kinds. So I agree with you that I don't understand what's so great about being completely 'wasted'. Energy drinks lessens your nerve impulse. The alcohol is much less dense than everything else, so its absorbed rapidly into your system, but the energy drink has reduced your impulse. Once the energy drink wears off then youve been drunk for a while...

My deaf soon went to boarding school All. School for the Deaf. one if his very close friends and roommate, died in his bed at school after football practice+Energy drinks.... he was 13 years old. it was discovered after his death that he had a heart defect (like a murmur etc.) and the combustion of exertion and caffeine killed him. Thank heavens my son was home with bronchitis when his roommate passed. so. sad.

Energy drinks are not bad. Energy drinks are safe and cool. And when it comes to the alcohol thing, don't mix it with uppers like caffeine if you gonna drink a lot of booze. Caffeine masks your ability to tell how drunk you are getting. Don't aim to get drunk if you had caffeine. There's also kratom which is safe. Alcohol can be dangerous but be responsible. Energy drinks are dangerous if you drink too much and have a low caffeine tolerance. But if you have a high caffeine tolerance, you can drink more energy drinks and coffee. Be responsible. Warning labels and responsibly and research helps. Prohibition do not help. Don't mix uppers and downers.

most bars in Alberta don't sell energy drinks, alcohol with energy drinks and sports drinks, is a safer combination .pre-workout and whey protein supplements with alcohol is also advised aganist, most energy drinks sold Canada aren't strong enough to react with alcohol.

Night clubs in some parts of Las Vegas actually ID before offering RedBull, Monster, & Rockstar. Every time i go downstairs to get a RedBull with Cherry syrup from the bar the Bartender ask me for ID. The bartender knows me well enough that he knows I'm old enough to drink but will always check my ID cause its his job at stake! Even if its RedBull & Cherry

I don't think you die with one... I like vodka redbull, but I only drink one or two in a year... Anyway I only saw a bad experience with energy drinks which was a friend who drank 5 red bulls in a row and his heart beat started to increase a lot and he felt bad and call the ambulance. But he is fine, and still drinks one red bull, but not more than one anymore :)

I think, for the most part, that your average 21 year old going out with their friends to a bar isn't going to know the harmful effects of red bull+vodka. That is why I would like to see it banned personally. But in your situation I do see a point. Bar tenders could give a verbal warning about mixing the energy drinks with vodka upon selling it to the customer.
