@evabrown5177 From Steve Wood's comment on the Facebook post -- Steve Wood Song was composed by Joel Wood. The words in the song came from a period when the colonists and missionaries came to our communities to try to educate our people in their way. One of the leaders of our community known as Saddle Lake today stood up and did not want this to happen. There was a struggle over this. Eventually the Chief relented, but only if the school was named after him because he did not want our people to forget who we are. His name was “Blue Quills”. Residential school still stands today named Blue Quills. At the time of the signing of the documents, Blue Quills son-in-law “William Delver” voiced this: “Kakispinatamasohk pimatisiwin wîwechasin, maka, kanehiyawatisihk wî-âyiman” (It will be hard but our people will be able to make a living, however, it will be more difficult to be Cree)

Im not Native American, but when i came across this video and listened to the music, I felt like electricity go through my body. I have never felt that before, I also felt very emotional and started to cry. Since then, I have listened to it on daily basis and everytime i get the same feeling, dont know why 🤷.

What tribe do the men dancing clockwise with the women, come from, there are alot of them. The Lakota, Oglala, Rosebud-Sicangu, Dakota, Nakota, the men dance in the counter clockwise direction? Can someone answer my question, I'd really appreciate it? I'm Oglala Lakota man, been dancing since I was a child.
