17 - Mower Upgrades, Caravan Move & Basement Treatment. Busy Week on Our French Homestead!

This week, Philippe is busy with the mower, adding an hour meter and giving the blades a good sharpening. We're also tackling a few other tasks, like cleaning out the chicken coop, cleaning the outside of the caravan, and relocating it to the new barn. As for Odin, he's been quite curious about the fireplace, so we're setting up a fence to keep him safe from the heat. And to top it all off, our basement is now prepped and ready for some insulation.

The editing is spot on! Just the right amount of showing us the work, speeding up when repetitive and editing out unimportant stuff. Example: I just noticed Phillipe finishing a job and you cut out when he was coming down a ladder. I’m assuming maybe this was part of your “before” life? I hope that other restoration shows are tuning in to your channel for some tips! Perfection!

I miss the narration Anicia sometimes does in the beginning and end of the video. She has a beautiful voice and I really like it. The Stihl mower would drive me crazy. It’s new and still I hear a squeaky sound when you are driving. I’m German and I live in Alaska and the USA is the motherland for rideable mower, maybe that’s the reason why I’m not really impressed with the Stihl. Also there is not really a dashboard. 😅 Love your videos. You deserve way more views!!!!

Hey Little Chena, The voice is coming back 😉. The Stihl mower is doing its job but it indeed squeaked from the beginning 😂, we would love like a zero turn mower but they cost an arm and a leg over here. If you put a layer of sand on the floor of the coop it’s much easier to sieve out the poop and keep the coop clean

We are going to sell it, too new and too much money into it to rent it out. It served us very well during the wintertime in Belgium.

Remember the ashes from your woodstove is great for the chicken ‘s dust bath. Same with egg shells, finely crushed …..recycled.

Hey Gus, we dump our ashes on the compost for now. The chickens like to dust bath under the caravan 😅. The egg shells we started crushing because one of the chickens started pecking her own eggs..

What I can’t understand and this applies to all the videos I watch on other channels, the last word of a sentence is cut off and displays a bit later, I use the text so I don’t disturb other people with the volume up. Can anyone explain this as I resort to guess the word before it is displayed, a little game I and maybe others play but I takes your eye of the subject of the video.

Hello Jim, no idea youtube captions most of our videos automatically, you can try to see in the settings if you can change something there. Its the little cogwheel to the right and there you have loads of caption settings.
