Wow, thanks for such a deep dive review Miranda! I have the flu and need to film my review on this set today but because you did such an amazing job on the complex issue of new and old pigments in this set, I think I’m going to send my viewers to your video and just do a swatch & painting demo with them lol. I definitely don’t have the brain bandwidth to do anywhere near as good as you did today. 👏🎨🖌️💜

I'm so glad you released your video; I had also agreed to do a review on this set for the Prime Day sale but then I caught a nasty cold for nearly two weeks and couldn't record any voice overs. Mine is super delayed now, doh! 😭 I love the colours in the floral set, they're really pretty! I'd have loved a Payne's Grey instead of one of the browns, and yes, that part of the palette is less than great; I had the same issues with the sienna paint not wanting to activate. PG36 is Phthalo Green Yellow Shade, from what I remember? I love your delicious apple painting! 🍎

I have this beautiful set, I believe it’s an older set similar to the tube floral set they once had, I purchased mine a few years ago on Allie Express , when I was not enjoying some of Paul Rubens newer releases. Glad it’s for sale in my country now❤ yay

I have a Paul Ruben’s set from years ago. I really like it a lot so this is tempting. 😂

The Flower is the same formulas as the original pink tin of Paul Rubens. You can find all those colors in their full original range. The 4th and 5th generation are different formulas, upgrade formulas according to the brand I can't find the full range in any of these lines.

Ah, that makes sense. Interesting. It's a great color selection.

So interestingly, back in 2017 or 2018 I purchased a PR floral set only it is in tubes. It wasn't available long, it eventually disappeared from amazon and the PR website. But I have it, it's a set of 24, 12ml tubes and I'm so curious as to whether it's all the same colours as the pan one you have. I know that the peach light is the same. I should find a list of the pan colour set and compare.

I can't understand why Paul Rubens relaunched this palette. I bought mine in 2022 the tube set anyway, but there was the pan version if you wanted it. I also got confused when I read 17 new colors but I guess is just color that arent in the original palettes. I dont know Paul Rubens is so confusing some times. Thank you for the video

I loove this set! I have it and I did replace the browns with colors I will use more 😅 but I looove their cobalt turquoise light that I've been looking for it in a tube but I didn't have any luck so far 💔

First video I watch from you and I can say I enjoyed it a lot, you have a nice voice and a friendly way of narrating things. Gorgeous colours, too! Although I wholeheartedly recommend doing your own lightfastness tests because some of their lightfastness ratings seem... inflated. PY83 is not lightfast at all so that rating surprised me. Same goes for PY74, a fugitive yellow that turns greyish in a matter of 3-4 months in sunny places. Also that lavender being fugitive makes sense: PV3 has an extremely poor lightfastness, it fades within a couple of months. Sadly once you become familiar with each pigment's resistance to light and pH changes, you stop trusting companies' lightfastness ratings. Paul Rubens don't inflate them too much, maybe a tiny bit on the conservatory side. Daniel Smith however straight up lies about lightfastness ratings.

Thank you and welcome! Yes, I have many of these paints in the window with a lot more that I need to add. It'll be interesting to see how it all comes out.

I have this set and I was looking forward to some colors in it especially the browns. Well I was disappointed in the browns. I do love all the other colors though. Some of the other colors I don't have so. Oh well I'll just make my own brown. I got mine a few months ago and paid 40 I think?

The Peach Light being pink always throws me - and you're right it looks so different in the pan! But I finally found out, they are referring to the color of peach BLOSSOMS, not the fruit! The lavender is lower lightfastness because of the PV3, which I wonder why they bothered to even put in. It usually really brightens a purple but I don't see it here. PG 36 *is* phthalo green -- yellow shade. I think they mislabled the PG17 because it looks like PG8 to me! And the Olive Green must have an orange pigment that they left out of the labeling. And the Permanent Yellow Medium is definitely mislabeled - that looks like Hansa Yellow Medium to me, which is PY97. PY65 is Hansa Yellow Deep and so I think they were correct in the 5th gen set. But it wouldn't be a Paul Rubens set without some typos in the pigment info LOL!!
