Thank you for the upload brother. Question: is the pendulum swing also effective as a shorter boxer against a taller opponent? Even tho I usually prefer the soviet fighting style (classic 1-2 combos, pendulum, snapping jabs and range fighting) I observe myself dropping this style and going for a more brawl/ inside fighting / flat footed stance when facing bigger guys… any advice or ideas?
@akhotinbxng3 ай бұрын
That’s a good question. You can use the pendulum step situationally as a shorter fighter. So if you’re faster than your taller opponent the you can take advantage of that. Also you can use it when they are gassed out. Also you can use that as a setup for going inside, throw 1-2 for example and then switch to regular steps and go in There are many possible scenarios and everything is situational

I‘m training with the pendulum step in training/shadow boxing. Since i‘m only 1,78m i‘m trying to use it mostly for defensive purposes when drawing back from an infight. What can short fighters like me get out of it or doesn‘t it make much sense with my stature? Even when i‘m fighting with opponents my height and reach i have difficulties applying it in sparring. I’m never landing a serious hit. Do you have any tips?
@akhotinbxng3 ай бұрын
Hey man, the pendulum step can definitely still work for shorter fighters! Try using it to close the distance quickly after you draw back, not just for defense. Focus on timing your entry and staying explosive. Mix it up with head movement and throw counters right after the step. That way, you can turn defense into offense. Keep practicing and it’ll click!

I have a question. in the other video, where you explain the pendulum step, when you move in the same spot, you show that you pass the weight from one foot to another. "Russian School of Boxing" instead shows that you must always stay on your toes, with stiff ankles. Is there any style difference? which is more correct? btw great video :)
@akhotinbxng3 ай бұрын
Hey! That’s a good question Both ways are correct. Keeping both feet tight is better when you want to increase the pace and “explode” and transferring is better for longer periods of work I use both and that works for me

Start with the basics like stance, footwork, and punches. Build your cardio and strength while practicing defense (head movement, blocking). Then work on combos, shadowboxing, and heavy bag drills. Once you're comfortable, start light sparring, focusing on technique and ring IQ. Don't forget to stay mentally strong and take care of your recovery. Keep pushing, and you'll see progress!

@akhotinbxng3 ай бұрын
Hey! Here are some tips Here are some quick tips to help with balance in boxing: 1. Stay low: Keep your knees slightly bent to stay grounded. 2. Even weight distribution: Keep your weight centered between both feet - don’t lean too far forward or back. 3. Small steps: Move with short, controlled steps instead of big leaps. 4. Hands up, core tight: Your guard helps with balance; tighten your core to stay stable. 5. Practice on one leg: Try shadowboxing while balancing on one leg to strengthen your stability.
