Flight Attendants keep us safe in the air, but they also want to be able to do their job. So here are 17 things that Flight Attendants want flyers, travelers and vacationers to know when they board the plane.
1. Flight Attendants are not your mother.
2. Don't blame the flight attendants for plane delays if it is out of their control.
3. The plane is just a glorified version of public transportation so everyone is treated equal.
4. Have your stuff ready when you board the plane so you do not keep people from boarding and blocking the aisle.
5. Have your order ready when the flight attendant comes by, you know it is chicken or pasta
6. Please be specific with your drink orders. Your "regular coffee" may not mean the same, say Coffee Black or Coffee 2 sugars one cream.
7. Parents have your kids' orders ready too
8. Diet soda isn't a thing, tell them Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi or Diet Sprite.
9. Tell the flight attendants when you get on the plane about any allergies you have.
10. If you need anything to help you take medicine bring it with you. The plane may not have food and they may not be allowed to bring you a drink for awhile.
11. Pay attention to the safety briefing. It could save your life.
12. If your neighbor rings the call bell and orders something order with them instead of waiting for the flight attendant to come back and send them on another trip back to the galley.
13. Give the flight attendants your trash. It makes a difference on the turnaround time.
14. Stay in your seat until the seat belt sign goes off.
15. Parents, please do not let your kids use the plane as a jungle gym.
16. Bring stuff to entertain your kids and snacks.
17. Parents, don't get drunk on the plane and expect flight attendants to entertain your children.

Ok people, we understand, not everyone paid the *exact *same *price. But from a flight attendants point of view, those in Economy paid economy, those in Business paid business and so on. So you get economy service or whatever service you paid for. You are equal to those in your class. Ok? Ok. Thanks for understanding. 😉😁

There's not "Economy Service" and "Business Class Service: or "First Class Service".... There;'s just SERVICE.. The flight Attendants are just as kind and attentive in Economy as they are in First Class, although they usually have more passengers per FA, so you might need to be patient On most airlines, all three classes of passengers get the same food, but First Class just gets it on fancier plates !! I always fly Economy, and get treated just fine .....

sorry, but thats not correct. the service in buiness and first is better then the one in economy. They dont get the same food in all classes. Business and Firstclass food is way better. They have more meals and a bigger choice for beverages and meals.

I was 9 years old when I took a plane for the first time in my life (I went to the Netherlands). I honestly nearly can’t remember anything of that trip (and I’m only turning 15 in three weeks). That’s so sad😢
@raghnaid7360
@raghnaid7360 4 жыл бұрын
I know this is a year old, but anyway. They may not realise right at that age about how lucky they are, but they will appreciate it when they're older. The first time I travelled overseas, I was 10 months old (I turned 1 overseas), and my parents would take my sister and I overseas at least once a year, along with big holidays in Australia. Growing up, I thought it was normal and that most people had the same experiences, but now that I'm 25 and paying for my own holidays I appreciate that I can say I've been to a lot of countries. Obviously I don't have memories of everywhere I went, but I can remember a few memories of most places I've visited from when I went to Scandinavia when I was 8 and onwards. As I said earlier, one day they will think back on their memories and the countries they've visited, and realise how lucky they are. :)

@reinerjung1613 6 жыл бұрын
Well, if you have some serious illness then you should not fly and actually it would be illegal. However, sometimes it cannot be omitted to fly while having the flu. That is why you should be vaccinated as an flight attendant. I know it is unfair to all other passengers. Therefore, if flying can be avoided, e.g., it is a holiday season flight home to your parents, cancel the trip and fight the flu (much better than flying and being sick with your parents). However, if you are in *some strange country* and you need to go to your own doctor or a real doctor, flying might not be avoidable. However, you might wear a mask.

In the way here to Netherlands with KLM, they even gave me a fruit salad (just for me!), without me asking for one, because I'm vegetarian, even though it was not meal time and not their duty to do so. So in short this means: Don't be an ass on the plane. It is a shame that adult people have no impulse control at least on planes, trains, trams and buses outside of China and Japan. I have the feeling that they forget that they are not alone on this planet and that others are equally relevant. A core element of many religions is "be nice to each other". Looks like there are exceptions when it comes to public transport.

My daughter had to fly last year with both her hands & wrists in braces. Couldn't even buckle her seatbelt. I was given permission to assist her to the gate and the airline personnel took it from there. She wouldn't have made it without them! So next time you think about being a needy little whiner, consider that you might be taking their time away from someone who really needs it.

I couldn’t agree more!! The amount of time nurses have to remind people that the public hospital is a free service, to save your lives! Not a hotel, not a vacation, not a honeymoon destination, not a place to dump your grandparents so you can have holidays (it happens), not a restaurant (lol). Nurses are definitely not your mother, lover or the cook. Don’t be rude to the nursing staff because surgery has been cancelled - there’s so many reasons why that happens like trauma cases where it’s life and death for someone who’s been in a crash/accident, or there’s just not enough surgeons, or patients themselves didn’t follow instructions like didn’t elevate the leg or ate food when they should have been nil by mouth! There’s so many things I can say about this lol but I’ll leave it at that!

And I was not the only one, other people around were talking about it as well. I am allergic to peanuts by touch. I don’t wait until boarding. I inform the airline when I buy my ticket, if possible I order a meal that is safe for me. My doctor writes me a note on his Rx pad explaining I must have my epi pen on board, because a couple of years after 9/11 the TSA screener tried to take it away. At the gate and when boarding I then inform the airline again and tell them I’m caring an epipen and where it is. I also dress so that I can avoid touching common surfaces long sleeves and pants. I use my sleeve as a glove opening doors or holding railings. Just so people understand the reason airlines might declare a flight peanut free is about some weird fairness idea. It is because it is a skin contact allergy and they don’t want to have to divert for a medical emergency.

Obye239 it costs $0.00 to have some empathy and compassion for someone who has what is arguably one of the worst (in terms of prevalence of the allergen) allergies around. No one's flight is ruined because they can't have peanuts for like 3 hours. You are (presumably) not five years old, don't have a tantrum over being peanut free for a brief moment in your life. It's pretty shameful to suggest that people with contact allergies don't deserve the same opportunities for travel and fun that people without them do.
@majestycrush
@majestycrush 6 жыл бұрын
Obye239 so apparently people with peanut allergies aren’t allowed to travel now simply because it could “ruin it for everyone else”? Since when was a peanut free airplane a “ruined” flight? Do you love peanuts that much? Also, it’s not like one can help having the allergy. They were born with it. Should all people with severe peanut allergies never leave their house since it’s so inconvenient to you and apparently ruins everything? Lmao. Go fuck yourself.

I have the same issue but with tree nuts. I was told ahead of time they only document for peanut allergies and not other ones. Well in first class I tell them not to give me the nuts. About half the time they put them in front of me. I've never had an issue with an epi pen domestic or international. I bring 2 since each one only provides a short time of relief.

Thank you for this. I have been flying my whole life and I’m about to fly with my 11 month old for the very first time and my uncle who is a flight attendant gave me some great tips to make everything easier on us, flight attendants, and the passengers. His tips are to talk to your pediatrician about something to help small children sleep, if there is no turbulence and the child is inconsolable then walk to the end of the plane and hold your child and rock them a little, ask the flight attendants where to change your children’s diapers, and be friendly to the flight attendants! Being friendly and considerate can really be beneficial and they are more willing to give you tips and tricks on how to help your children stay calm.

Gina Sellers we spent 2 years talking to flight attendants, baggage handlers, airport/airline staff and crew for many videos, this is just the first. It's been a lot of work and having one video come out of that is reason for joy in my world 😉 And you'd be shocked at the number of people for whom this is not common sense! Some of the stories we have heard are outrageous and full of stupidity. Be glad you were blessed for this information to be common sense to you. 😁

Well Said, Mark. Manners should never go out of style. Consideration, safety and simple etiquette can make the world revolve smoother. I went on my 1st flight 18 years ago and I told the attendant it was my first. She was so nice and came by and checked on me. It was a flight from Norfolk to New York on a smallish prop plane just before 911. Just before we took off she said it's just like riding on a roller coaster, lol, it wasn't, but that helped. I'll be going on a much longer flight in a few months to Europe and I am very anxious. My advice let the attendant know you are nervous, sometimes, if they are not to busy, they will keep an eye on you.

Another reason is you must stay in your seat during take off landing and on the ground is literally the balance of the plane. I only found this out from being a ground handler. Being out of your specified place during these critical times effects the balance of the plane and change the characteristics of the handling of the vehicle. This can make it difficult or dangerous for the pilot to control land and take off. Potentially in extreme cases causing the engines to stall by not getting enough lift and crashing or on the ground, making it tail heavy and tip up. Your seating position is not random! It is calculated by estimated weight by male/female/ child / infant so the plane can stay in balance for take off and landing safely. It's also why passengers get loaded to the front first to keep it nose heavy

#18: Don't demand the captain to make a public announcement apologizing for a gate change. 😂 It happened on a Lufthansa flight from Munich to Bremen this August. A lady had almost missed the flight because of a gate change that had been made one hour before departure. Inside the plane she really wanted the captain to apologize on behalf of Lufthansa! All the other passengers couldn't stand her annoying yelling. Of course everybody had looked at the screens at the airport, many (me too) had given their email address to the airline and got a notification email one hour before departure.

+van03de In most airports and on many tickets there is an advice. Please check the gate, they may change. They can also change 30 min before the flight so reading the boards is always a good idea. Unfortunately, there exist self-entitled persons which think the earth revolves around them. They always find something to complain about. From my perspective, this women was lucky. She looked at the gates way too late, but still she made it. So sit down and star relaxing.

Yes yes yes yes yes! And even when you're at the gate, there's always an electronic display letting you know what the next flight out is that they're servicing, so make sure to check that as well to ensure you're at the right gate. And sometimes even the online data for a flight will be incorrect even if you're looking at the airport's website, so the boards are your friend.

I've always been curious as to what people think an apology is going to do for them. I mean if I, personally, hurt or offend someone, I'm going to apologize so they will know it wasn't intentional. But I really don't understand why so many people demand a public apology. It is certainly just noise if you have to ask for it.

I'd like to add that the first point doesn't include if you get special assistance (at least from my own personal experience). The airport assistance staff hand your bag(s) to the flight attendant who will take it and guide you to your seat, and then they'll place it in the overhead for you (after checking with you that there's nothing inside it that you will need). A couple of times I've even had one attendant going in front of me with my carry on and another coming behind with my pillows. I always thank them because I'd never manage to do it on my own, not just because of my disability but also because I'm that short!

One more thing about the carry ons: I have seen this trend a lot lately, not only people get HUGE carry ones with them but they also don't want to give it to the flight attendants when they tell them that they can't take this on board. I think this is happenning more lately since the electronic checkins at the airports. Probably before the checkin employees were stopping them from getting these HUMONGOUS suitcases (sorry but some are really not carry ons) on board but now this pre-clean up is skipped. We've even had once a flight attendant, going through the passengers in the waiting area before boarding and asking them to follow her, then she was weighting their "carry ons" and taking them in cargo if they were heavier than they should. There too of course many passengers were protesting! How ungrateful, you basically get to give a second -probably- luggage for free and you complain about it? Not to mention that these huge "carry-ons" will probably squeeze whatever I bought from the duty free or my tiny little bag that I have to store above our heads. So selfish, unthoughtful and ungrateful!

But, since the last time that I got my stuff ruined, I'm taking my bag under the seat in my front and if anyone asks I tell them I have my camera (which is true as well) in so they don't complain.

People need to apply part of this in hotels, as well. Some of it does not apply, but when I worked as a desk clerk we used to have people check in who thought that once they arrived, the hotel was responsible for anything and everything that happened to them from then on, whether it was in any way related to the hotel. They suddenly became incapable of operating a TV remote, an alarm clock, a radio, sometimes the elevator, and sometimes could not figure out how operate the hot and cold water. Also could not read- it was in bold letters on the phone that 9 had to be dialed to get an outside line, but guests would dial 1 and the start of an area code which would end up putting through to a room in the hotel. We started legit trying to find the brain sucking machine that we figured must be in the vestibule.
