Guys, be grateful for what you have never take anything for granted, as a regular visitor to Seattle I am overwhelmed every time by how much there is to see and do, I’m from the uk and believe me you have nothing to complain about, don’t slag the place off if you can’t be bothered to go and explore.
@thethirdgeneration17383 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I was stationed there at the Air Force base back in 1986 in Tacoma, and would make drives into Seattle then. Now, almost 35 years later, I want to go back to visit. I remember looking back what a good time I had. And, maybe how I should have stayed? I'm 58 now, and I'm considering going back for a long stay to revisit it. It's more expensive now, things have changed a lot since I was there back in the late 8o's; but still I feel as if I missed something? There are more social problems there now ( there is the homeless problem, that I have learned about, and few other issues, I hope those are resolved some day. Because, Seattle is a beautiful city, and deserves solutions. As with so many other cities ) But, you're right, there are cities in the US that could be made into "wonderful cities" with some work, and smart people tackling the problems.

Never entertain the word "bored" in your life. There's always something to look forward in our everyday life. That connotes negativity. Be grateful instead, because others still wanted to live but has already a term in life. As advised by a priest in one Homily, go outside, see less fortunate prople struggling but still optimistic and grateful. Likewise, do charitable work, visit orphanages, home for the aged, assist in Soup Kitchens, you'll realized how lucky and privileged you are with healthy, mobile body.

Ive lived here my life and now I just watch these videos to remember how life looked before COVID. Lol I actually just got laid off from Starbucks since my store in pioneer square will be permanently closed. Now the neighborhoods a ghost town. I’m not tripping about the job but I do hope the many small businesses in the area can bounce back. When the homeless aren’t harassing you, its a cool place 😂❤️❤️
@mr.p98823 жыл бұрын
So tell everyone WHY the store is closing. Drugs, crime, protestors, vandalism, on and on...
@SheDIDthatWJ3 жыл бұрын
@@mr.p9882 that's not necessarily why. Any Starbucks in the downtown or greater Seattle area has to deal with the problems you listed just because the homeless issue is so bad and Starbucks is seen as a "safe place". Which breeds a whole lot of BS that most baristas should not have to deal with, but that's another conversation all together. And the protesting has nothing to do with it. Protesters love Starbucks and Starbucks loves everyone who pays. Lol If you know any about that neighborhood you would know that it's was kept alive by the many offices, tourists, clubs, and stadiums. When those things closed it created a domino effect for an already struggling area. Obviously, you are not from here and are misinformed so I will explain things to you. You're welcome.

Instead of going on the space needle, go to the Columbia Tower. I realize the Space needle is the touristy thing to do, but hear me out. It's nearly twice the height of the space needle and the views are unbelievable! It honestly makes the SN look small. Views of the cascades and Olympic mountain ranges are amazing. Its also cheaper. I think the space needle costs around $60 to go up, but he Columbia Tower was $20 for students and I think $22 for non students.
@EricaGamet5 жыл бұрын
The Space Needle and Chihuly combined are $49. I think the Space needle is like $30 by itself. I prefer the Space Needle for the views because it feels closer to the water (both the Sound and Lake Union). I think because it's not surrounded by other tall buildings, it feels more panoramic. And all the improvements they made last year are great (well, it felt like slightly narrower walkways on the outside deck).
@orangeboy975 жыл бұрын
@@EricaGamet Thanks for the correction on the price. It definitely is closer to lake Union and the sound. When I was at the top of the Columbia Tower, I honestly didn't notice any other buildings because it's so much taller than the rest. Both are great options though!

Dude, I just moved to the Seattle area about 6 months ago. My sister, as well as a couple of friends have been here about 4 years, and between hanging out with the three of them, we have managed to hit most of the spots on this list, and I can say they definitely love up to the hype! I did get a good few more ideas from some that we have yet to go to, so I'm looking forward to that! Thanks! I would like to add, as far as food spots, you need to go to The Boars Nest. It's a small BBQ joint in Ballard with scratch-made slaw, and a killer fried bologna sandwich! They have some pretty cool historical type decor on the walls too! Another food spot that is pretty awesome is Biscuit Bitch! A cafe focusing on breakfast and lunch in downtown Seattle, where you can expect a little fun with back and forth banter if you're willing to not be offended! Be prepared to be greeted by an exuberant, "What's up, bitches?" The staff don't mind if you video your experience, but are definitely not shy calling you out, saying something to the effect of, "I see you recording there, you little bitch!" Loads of fun, and the biscuit based dishes are pretty delicious! 😋 As a last addition, two more non-food ideas are to check out the Ballard Locks, where boats and even somewhat larger commercial transport and fishing vessels get raised up from the level of Puget Sound, to be able to motor through the connecting waterways of Lake Union, and eventually accessing Lake Washington. It is truly fascinating to see how they lift the vessels up with those "water elevators" known as locks. The second idea being Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park on the south eastern shore of Lake Washington, located in Renton, WA. While it doesn't have a fancy relic of an old gassification plant, it does have a fantastic waterfront sunset view, a raised observation platform with a roof over it, and a spectacular view of Renton Municipal Airport directly across Lake Washington, only about 1,000 ft. away! You can see jet aircraft taxi, then turn around at the end of the runway abutting the Waters edge, then spool up those massive jet engines to take-off down the runway throwing a large mist of water behind them from all the thrust!

I have been all over the United States and just recently went to Seattle and it was the coolest City that I've ever been in. I love cities and I love the outdoors and I found Seattle to be a great combination of both. You can literally take a ferry from Pike's place and be on island like vashon or Bainbridge in 30 min yet you feel like you're world's away. The city is the most futuristic city in America and there are so many cool neighborhoods that have their own unique vibe. The food is incredible also. There's so many different ethnic cultures there and it is fully expressed in the variety of traditional foods that they offer. The only drawbacks are the extremely apparent drug and mental health problems which coincides with the homeless problem in Seattle and the cost of living is the other..

If you should by some chance move to Seattle…your first task, other than investing in a waterproof parka with a hood…would be to note that it is Place, never Pike’s. As a visitor, you are entitled to speak any way you want. But once you are here for good…

A few items that could be added. 1. Freemont Brewery 2. Old Stove Ship Canal Brewery 3. Schilling Cider 4. Fisherman's Terminal and having dinner and seeing the big commercial fishing boats. 5. Lincoln Park 6. Visit Starbucks headquarters and visit the Reserve there too. Didnt know there was a Reserve inside the Starbucks headquarters. Its kinda cool to check out.

I'm from Seattle but I moved to Dallas, I still travel up to Seattle often. It's funny, when I lived here I didn't do much at the touristy stuff, but now that I'm visiting I've been doing more of the touristy stuff. This is a great video, though full of common and uncommon touristy spots! I didn't know UPS started here, I learned a lot of stuff in this video. Also, I'm with you on Top Pot- I LOVE their pink feather boas! They also have locations in Texas, which was a nice surprise for me lol. Great video! (former) Seattleite approved!

I still think Magnolia is the best place to live in Seattle. It's close to Ballard, Queen Anne, Fremont and Downtown. Yet it is it's own quiet (no traffic) community with Discovery Park as your own huge playground connected to it. I don't really care for Capitol Hill like many visitors and natives. Also, it is very respectful/customary to Seattle to visit the gravesites of Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Lee. Many Seattleites will even find it disrespectful that those sites weren't mentioned. Nice video

If you're down by Pike Place Market, one can go to the Pike Brewery, but the best brewery in Downtown Seattle is a little north of there and it's called "Cloudburst". Cloudburst was started by the brewer from Elysian, after they sold out to AB&Bev. They don't bottle, it's a true Microbrewery.

I think the I 90 bridge over Lake Washington (the longest floating bridge in the world, is fun to walk or bike across on. I live in Seattle and every morning I look around and feel so lucky to live in a city in this part of the country. I don't think any other city can claim to have 2 natural lakes in it. Anywhere you go there's a beautiful view of something - the Cascade mountains to the east, the Olympic mountains to the west, Mount Rainier to the south and Mt Baker to the north, view of the Puget Sound, Lake Washington, or Lake Union.
