I cannot thank you enough for this video. I have been tinkering on and off for a long time trying to figure how to cut the angles for this exact planter. I saw an add for it a couple of years back and it has haunted me ever since. Thank you again.

Gives me chills when I see carpenters put there hand so close to the business end of a pneumatic nailer I've seen those Brad's curl up by following an Internal wood grain path and going straight through someone's thumb or finger ouch , but regardless great video 👍

Johannes here, as there are no good compound miter cuts demonstrations on KZbin, so, thank you for your help!

Here is a video from a real old timer about compound angles. Basicly he takes some scraps and sneaks up on it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYiwkJehapuYkJY I don't know what happenend to this dude, he just disappeared 6 years ago, but his project "angle madness" is still on the channel. That project name is pure understatement. kzbin.infovideos Hope you can get some uses out of it.

Hi! Thanks for the video. The presentation was very clear. But I did not hear you explain where you came up with the actual cut angles of 53 and 36. It looked like the finished project was 45 and 90. Is there some conversion table? Thanks.

So how did you come up with 50.76 and 36.76? And, how do you determine which angle goes with the track saw and which for the circular saw?

Only able to spend an hour or two in the shop each day, but my arm is starting to recover. I’ve got a project I’ve been working on with Revere Overland but it will be a few weeks before that video goes out. I really hope my arm recovers soon so I can get back to working and videoing daily

How did you figure out the angle of the miter and bevel? Is there some formula?

Sorry I am late to seeing this video - but that simplified some things for sure! I have been trying to make a frustum or wood dirt bike stand, using plywood, but just can not work out how to cut the compound angles. Thanks

But How did you come up with the angles? The piece I need to cut is more complex than that.

I hope everything is OK cause I recognice the last weeks that I miss the guy fighting the big logs with a truck and rough tools not knowing the name of the channel till I remembered to day that shawnee hill was the term to search for. Hope you are coming back again to share your adventures as before and that you family is still happy with your adventures ... and I guess you wanted to pick up a big saw from somewhere in the US or so...

I was ready to come here and call you an basshole! However, the problem was all me! For whatever reason, I thought a speed square measures the angle left over not the wood cut off. I was completely wrong. I spend days measuring angles with a couple electronic angle tools drawing up plans which I transferred to the wood. I made jigs on my table saw and RAS... all failed. I started thinking your video was a scam. It wasn't until I really looked at the speed square and measured my angles and found I was not using the correct starting point, therefore all the angles I measured were the compliment angle! Duhh! I felt I was going nuts. I blame it on Dyslexia. Nevertheless, this video is spot on! And, I apologize for bitchin you out! LOL

I have to say that I'm still confused. Yes, this video was shot 2 years ago but it came up after a search of cutting compound angles. I'm struggling to make a picture frame that is splayed outwards by 20 degrees which I cut on the table saw using an digital angle device for accuracy. Annnnnnnnnnd that's about the point confusion set in. Do I make the compound cut with the board flat or vertical on the fence? And I fully understand that I would need 45 degree angles to make my corners when cutting for a single angle but with a compund due to the splay, how do I figure those? And again, when does one make a decision to cut an angle with the board flat, angles (like for crown) or vertical against the fence when using a chop saw? Thx.

Dude. Holy shitake mushrooms that's sick! Idk if u ever thought about creating a basics, intermediate, and advance course but if u haven't, u probably should. Or some single skill speed course where u focus on 1 specific skill per course. Even if u charged 20 bucks a pop for the speed course you'd break the bank with all your cash. Idk u seem knowledgeable enough to do it but I'm basing that off of s video that's good knows how old. Sorry I'm super baked rn so i hope i make some sort of sense. Lol. Great video hope there's more to come
