This video was very helpful. This was the first time changing the gasket on my 3100 Quad-fire 🔥 I love. Reading the comments were a help as well.

How have you been liking your 3100? Has it been lean on the firewood? I had a Schweiss wood furnace in the basement. It was a firewood glutton, went through 4 to 5 pick-up loads per winter. Replaced it in 2012 with a 3100 on the first floor. To his credit the salesman did not try and up-sell me on a bigger one, but the firebox was too small so I replaced it with the 5700 step top the next year. What an efficient machine! Now I only go through about two pick-up loads per year. But the salesman was right about going too big. Sometimes I struggle to keep parts of the house below 85 degrees. But I'm used to it, and homemade bread rises super fast. 😂

I replaced my door gasket about 3 weeks ago. To scrape off the old cement I used a punch with a diameter that matched the gasket groove in the door. I gently tapped it with a hammer along the groove. Then finished with a small wire wheel on my drill.

One of those things that can easily be overlooked but makes a huge difference in efficiency! The small wire wheel is a good idea, all the ones I have are too big, I’ll have to get a small one for next time! Thanks for watching!

‘Tis the season!! A few have mentioned the small wire wheel! All of mine are too big but I will definitely give that a try next time! Thanks for watching Larry!

Jake: We have two wood stoves at the wood yard similar to yours. I could not tell if your glass was smoked-up or was frosted? We have clear, so we used Baking soda & toothpaste with a buffing wheel. On the 12th we start letting most of the part time sub-contractors take off for the Holidays. Some, for family & friends, but most to south Mississippi to hunt feral hogs. I will be smoking a Hind Quarter myself, for Xmas day. Thumbs up, catch you on the one!

Hey Howard, my glass was just a bit dirty, I use an old sponge and some ammonia and it cleans right up! Smoked hog sounds great! I’ve always wanted to go feral hog hunting!!! Enjoy the holiday!

You just change on a as needed ?

Pretty much! Over time it breaks down and flattens out allowing air in, once that happens, time to replace!

Great advice for poor people that actually use wood stoves. Down here in MAR - A - LAGO only we only use central heating and cooling. 😅😅😅😅 14:32
