Wrong title nice video. I could remove the thinnest of shims, but also re-introduced the grease nipple back on the elliptical cover of the rack & pinon assembly. Once it was there, but Leyland removed it because mechanics did not put oil in it but grease! I have a small grease gun, filled with hypoid 90 and put in some oil every year or so. RThis advice I find missing from John's video. PS One can also raise the spring pressure on the rack, by extending its windings before putting it back

Holy cow, I learned way too much on this video.....I got alot of catching up to do on the steering (ordered bushing set and tie rod ends). And the whole time, I thought the dampner oil in ZS carb needed to be thinner than say 30W (I was experimenting with Kersene)...wow, can't wait to try hypoid 90!!! (Maybe it dampens vacuum vibration from shifting valves).

G'day John, Thanks for the instruction. I have long wondered what to do regarding lubrication of my rack. There is a grease nipple on my 1966 MG B, but I have not put grease in because the manual says to put oil in, (which I can't through the grease nipple!). Now I know what to do, thanks to your excellent video.

@PowerOfTheBlues I apologize, I'm still getting some of the kinks worked out with the focus. The old camera recorded to tapes and it was a hassle to get on my computer. This new camera will make it easier for me to get the videos up quicker and more regularly. - Eli

watched video but its is still not clear. Are we filling this like a diff until fluid runs out the top while turning the steering? "we could keep filling it but then it would too full" So when it is time to stop adding the oil?

John you need to have adequate lighting underneath the car because viewers CANNOT SEE what your working ON , so it negates the PURPOSE of DOING the VIDEO! Please correct this!

nice video, i got to do this too! Were you purging the old 90wt oil buy just over filling the rack? You said not to over fill it but I am not sure when you are supposed to stop.

The lower elliptical plate is leaking ever so slightly. Can I just remove the plate and plug the hole with a rag, then clean it up and put on a new gasket, and reassemble? I could put the lost oil back in again via the top hole. BTW I notice there is a “zirc” (sp?) nipple on the top, Thx.

Do NOT use the zerk for "grease", oil only.

I couldn't see a damned thing up in there. Would be better to have the rack and pinion laying on a work bench where we could see what you were doing.

hi i am based in france and my 72 mbg gt has more body roll in the left corner than right when i turn right the car seems to be very hard and flat in the corner with no body roll at all like the shocks and suspension were extremely firm but when i turn left car has much body roll and seems to have very very smooth suspension what could be the issue ? i have 3/4 anti roll bar and all bushes replaced, i swapped lever arm ,front springs and leaf spring left to right but still same may be it could be because my car has bachelor lean in the passenger side ,any allignement could be resolve my problem i hope you can help me my friend
