Alec Murdaugh is a lying liar who lies, but did he lie on the stand today? We break it all down live.

Great commentary. Ive watched most the Murdaugh trial daily. I’ve never ever seen a court room like this; ppl walking around, the defendant with gum/TicTacs, touching family members, touchy feely attorneys, an attorney pointing a firearm at the prosecution table and making a joke about it (causing laughter), an attorney asking Agent Worley “what’s so special about you?” It’s 2023 not 1973. jmho Thank you for your hard work 👍🏼

Thank you. I’ve been dejected by so many commentators saying the prosecution is caught “in the weeds” regarding financial crimes. They needed to show how he could lie to somebody’s face. Particularly after starting out with pawpaw. Buying time makes sense also. Thank you.

😆I'm really glad the prosecutor brought up the use of nicknames. I know it's petty to get annoyed by it, but whatever! I'll be petty. He was attempting to play on the emotions of the jurors.

I feel like once someone has experienced the manipulation of someone in their life who is supposed to love and care about them, it gets easier to spot it from a mile away. Once I heard Alex Murdaugh's jail house calls with Buster and other family members and how manipulative he was with them, my red flags were all signaling.

Thank you so much for your fantastic analysis. I hope that you are right about the text message from the house being the key in this case and that the prosecution makes that really clear when they get to that part in his timeline. It reminds me of Chad Daybell being caught by the unnecessary alibi-making text to his wife saying he was burying a dead racoon at the very time that Tylee was being buried in the exact same place.

I think part of the problem will be that people cannot believe that someone can manipulate people, and hurt people the way he does. Unless you've seen a manipulator like this, or had to cope with one yourself (25 years married to one!) that I'm guessing a lot of people wouldn't fathom that someone like this real and not a character in a film. He is an out and out liar and manipulator who would do anything to try to save himself

Are you referring to Mizell with the 332 S.C. 273 cite? That's about excluding evidence that the defendant had a character for truthfulness, which is typically only relevant if the defendant testifies. These are related to motive, and this precedent wouldn't apply to them.

I almost gagged when Alex was using the pet names for Maggy, Paul and Rogen. It was painfully obvious he was trying to evoke sympathy from the Jury. I really couldn’t listen to it. Besides what 22 year old wants to be called by a childhood nickname?? that makes him sound like a two year old. My BS radar went off big time! Also it’s my understanding that it was Gloria Satterfield (their deceased housekeeper) that referred to Paul that way because apparently she was his primary caregiver when he was growing up for 20 years and loved him like her own sons. AM is one truly warped, corrupted, devious, criminal.

Thanks Brett, Breett and ice, ice great talk. The boat accident unraveled his world and dynasty fiefdom. Paul had to go and by his death many problematic things disappear at least for a while. He had planned this murder or has he said 'someone planned this for a long time''. Maggie's death also solved the ownership of properties that could help cover his debt. The dynasty and rep were the most important thing drilled into his personality. Buster was his favorite and the heritary son and hope to continue his family's fiefdom. He didn't do anything after the murders for himself or Buster to protect themselfs. They didn't care about M. Beach only Paul's rep. ....They owned the police and sheriff's dept so he thought he could make this seem he couldn't do it

Oh THANK GOD ! I swear I have lost so much respect for so many "Talking Heads" in this case, how is it possible for anyone to believe this man!! I am so disgusted watching people not understand what they are watching! I'm so grateful to see both of you understand everything you are watching!! Thank you! And, really the saddest thing of all is knowing he will allow his family to believe he did not do this, for the rest of their lives, they have been told to never turn your back on family and no amount of evidence will convince them, and Alex could do the right thing and end their suffering, but he won't! He is the only person he cares about! Think about this, he knew that buster had been in the spot light for his failure at law school, for Steven and for protecting his father, and he not only allowed his son to take the stand in his defense, he sat there with this disgusting smile on his face knowing that he was making it even more difficult for Buster to live a normal life and knowing he could have easily lied. Especially about pauls video, he was so proud buster defended him he didn't think for a sec to be worried about anything Buster could have done to make his own situation worse, not even lying on the stand about his fathers voice, simply disgusting! Id have felt nothing but shame to see my only living child take the stand in my defense after the world learning all the lies, drugs, manipulation and horrible things I did .. alex showed his true colors while buster sat there!!

@Thisismyaltduh Ha! I knew before I even clicked on this reply, that it was going to be negative. Opposing what I commented. Oh well. It shows his life was spirling. People usually don't murder family members unless they become desperate for some reason. Financial loss/desperation. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he gets away with it. To get every single one of the jurors agree is a tough job. But, I can almost guarantee you that, if he's walks, it won't be the last crime-related incident the world hears that has a connection to Alec Murdaugh. Getting away with things emboldens people.

Regarding Bubba wearing a tracking collar. Does anyone know if the location data is monitored and stored, or is it just used to show current location? If the data is stored I thought it could be used to see when Bubba was put in his kennel. Based on AM testimony today, he said he retrieved the chicken, put it up, snd left. But we know all th dogs are in their kennels when Alex finds the bodies. So someone put him in the kennel and knowing the time that happened could help develop the timeline better.
