I called it! I told my wife when you started using the new saw supplied by Stihl they would have you wearing chaps. That's a good thing though, we all think an accident won't happen to us, but crap happens. You didn't say how you like the new saw. And man, nothing better than cutting with a new bar and chain. Great video Mike, makes me want to get out an do some cutting, but I think I'll wait for a cooler day.

Happy fathers day Mike. That grapple is AMAZING. I felled a huge (to me) red oak three years ago. Absolutely back breaking to wheel the rounds out of the woods and to the splitting area. Kicker...we don't burn wood I was doing it for family/friends. Nothing heavier than wet red oak. Have a great week. Rudy in NH

I was cutting some oak blow down just this weekend. About 90 degrees out. Adds a whole new dimension of fun. With my firewood stacks I've been happy when they don't fall over. This will take it to a whole new level. Love the channel Mike.

I live in a steep hill, not a level spot in my yard, so when I stack firewood it always falls. It may last a year or so but it starts leaning it falls or I will knock it over so it doesn’t kill any of the local wildlife. This contest gives me motivation to build a firewood rack that is anchored in the ground so that it will remain level. I love this channel.

Hi Mike, I’m here in England, (we’ve spoken before) I live in a small town in the midlands. I’ve only been chopping, splitting and stacking for the past two years. I’m so glad I found the beauty, warmth and pleasure of a wood stove. (Our dog thinks it’s awesome!) I stack my wood in an open wood shed I like to keep it nice tidy. I built the wood shed and stacked the wood myself. I think it looks beautiful. Could I enter with that??

Use your chainsaw handle to line up where you want your tree to fall. The handle is perpendicular to the bar. I could tell the tree was going to fall to to the right of the stump based on the handle. I’m assuming you wanted to hit the stump.

Well what a challenge and a worthwhile prize, I'm sure stihl can do a voucher for other countries, they are a popular saw in Aus. I see they got you wearing some chaps and stuff. Nothing wrong with safety equipment. Don't know if I will enter but I am definitely going to watch. Question, could you put a tow hitch on the carry all so you can carry that and tow the trailer?

one side good or both on wood stack? i started splittin slabs 3 x 9 x 16 " mainly maple. it pops on splitter in 4-5 inches drys faster stacks better fills stove fuller easier to move and staCKand better for ends. why am i the only one?

Mike I was waiting for you to pull the trailer up and drop the pieces directly in after cutting or cut logs and haul them up to the stacking area. Would keep from having to lift those heavy pieces. That spider was also trying to get some TV time.

That 362 is a nice saw mike! I run a 291 for general wood, replaced an 034 we had for eons, and have a MS660 for the big hardwood. Only Stihl on our place haha. We had our first snow of the season today so finally had a slush day to stay in the workshop and clean the saws!
@OutdoorsWithTheMorgans6 жыл бұрын
What kind of wood do you cut in Australia?
@Zomsky6 жыл бұрын
Outdoors With The Morgans we cut about three different type of eucalyptus hardwood. One is called stringybark which is kinda the density of red oak. We have a lot of what they call “yellow box” on our place, which is insanely hard on chains, difficult to split, but super long burning. There’s another called ironbark, but it’s getting hard to find. I think I’ve worked out I fall in to the “get her done” category, we stack our split wood in 4ft cubed metal crates we shift with the tractor, can’t wait to share some pics!

Surprised nobody on KZbin hasn't figured this out yet. Instead of cutting all your wood in the timber why not drag 10 or 12 foot sections up to your wood stack, cut and split them there, and be done, instead of cut, load, unload, split and stack.

Mike.... Great video (as per the norm) I've got a Stihl MS 261 C-M, a great machine. Some viewer will really enjoy their winnings. As Stihl is a world wide company any particular reason you don't get a Stihl gift card (if possible) and send instead of the physical saw to save yourself up to $200 in shipping and avert any possible shipping damage? I cut a few trees up here in Maine but no where near what you harvest. Thanks for all the great videos I really enjoy them.

You ask that we share this video. Next thing we see is you leaving a knee high stump as you make your second cut first then your first cut, then back to polish off your second cut All to leave a stump your RK tractor cannot startle. People are watching, they are going to do as they see you do. Make your directional cut first, aim that stem. Then cut the diagonal down to meet that directional cut making the hinge. For the next 40 years that stump is going to be an obstacle in those woods. Cut your stumps down low, get all the wood God gave you. If you want us to share the video work smart, leave the woods better than you found it. No knee high stumps.
