Unfortunately it is running a bit rough at the moment, have lost compression on all cylinders. Will be doing some work in coming weeks so i will post a new video soon.

I’ve got the same Carbs on the way for mine mixed with some CB Performance 044 heads, can’t wait for that throaty dual 40 sound.

I made one little change after this video which made a huge difference. I found that my throttle was only opening half way. After relocating the throttle cable (to reduce the angle to the hex bar) it became a totally different beast! Incredible.

Love it. I had a '69 bug back in high school (1983) with the same engine but ran Weber 44 dual carbs. Also, put in a larger cam with dual exhaust. The sound and performance was so much fun, for a kid in high school!

It sounds "over carburated" to me. Maybe if it was a 2.0 liter. You are losing all your bottom end for a bunch of intake noise (lean) until you get enough fuel velocity to really start carburation happening and so you get a big top end/WOT boost. Not so good for just driving but OK if you want to race it. Dual 34 or at most 36's would be much better.

Nice ride, man. Are you going on a stock exhaust? I'm thinking about making an engine like yours. Would you go on a CSP Competition exhaust?

Looks like a pretty quick bug

Unfortunately its not running anywhere near its potential. We did a compression test and found that all cylinders are running at 60-70 PSI. We will be fixing this issue in coming weeks which should see the car finally running properly!

Hi, I have the same ones in a 66 912. They make a noise almost like a backfire. Yours made the same sound at around 35 seconds. Do you know what it is? Thanks for making the video!

I have tuned the popping out. It was the carburettor popping because it was running a little lean.

@@danroto Adjust it in quarter turns only til you get that sweet spot. The tricky bit is working out which barrel is popping.

@@danroto One more thing. We resolved the popping by drilling a little hole (no more than 1.5mm) in each butterfly.

Hey there just an update on this question. After tuning the carbs and changing the sparkplugs, the popping came back after a few hundred kilometres. We realised that the spark plugs were fouling because of low compression. This only became apparent after we installed the twin carbs, and was not obvious on a single carb. With all that fuel being dumped and low compression it was leaving the sparkplugs covered in carbon build up. We should have this resolved in coming weeks.

Carbs sound good music ruins the whole video we want to hear engine noise not music in the background

Firstly, that sounds great. But, not a huge deal, but a source of annoyance: Why all the desperate "omg omg omg omgz omgz 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.0 this guy 0.0 omgz" emoji stuff plastered all over the video? Just keep it simple, no need to force us to get shocked or anything.
