So much to say about this video: First, excellent job and by far the most informative video on SFIC pinning i have seen - you should definitely do more instructional vids; I can't wait for part 2. Second, love the pin tray/box and the Lab pinning mat. Third, the euro housing was great for demonstrating how the control key operates the mechanism - in glad you found a use for it! Can't wait to get my hands on those locks either! Great stuff, you should be proud :-)

Thanks, much appreciated, the euro was great for that, I'll send it back with the cores in case you want to do one.

I've seen proper industry videos that didn't explain it as well as you have here Pete, well done.

Great series! I was wondering, did I miss something or did you mention how you remove the cylinder caps? Edit: Sorry, I just found your other video where you mention cap removal.

Amazing series Pete :). Can't wait to see the next part(s) how you do it :D. Have to say, I'm already lost at the numbers haha ;). So if you don't have a control key, you just cut one more or less random and repin the lock based on your table, right?
@jeffmoss267 жыл бұрын
just remember 23, each stack = 23. to determine the control you measure the top pins, add 10, then subtract from 23
@redcatimaging7 жыл бұрын
Oh thanks Jeff :), yeah 23 is easy to remember for me :). Okay, that would be a way to determine the right cuts for the control key without new pinning, cool. I'm also getting it that the pinstack can't be shorter than 23, so that the top pins don't fall under the second shear line, but theoretically the top pins could be longer right?

I have seen cores pinned wrong, to 22 or 24 and they do work...if that's what you're asking.
@peterestall7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yes if you had 2 operating keys, you could file a couple of pin positions lower to create a control key, just as long as the sizes match the key depth sizes.

Thanks for the additional comments Jeff, I did forget to point out about the 23 in the video :-(

Ok I'm new to the game, wondering where you order your replacement pins for Best brand cores, I'm working with the A-2 system. I was looking at replacement pins, Lab Universal ICore kit replacement pin variety pack. I'm wondering if you have insight as to if those will work in my cores or if they are the right size. Any info would be appreciated!
