My parents and other relatives are buried here. The dirt road on the other side used to cut through to our house on 80/96. I used to play in the cemetery as a child. My father, Harris Anthony, owned the Shell Service Station in Geneva.

I stay in south carolina. I'm black and our church has moved around 3 times in the community since it started but they kept every grave site in good condition. They had the church since mid 1800s . It's Graves out at the first site where some of the blacks were born before slavery ended. In our community they were allowed to have a church . The slave owners allowed they slaves to come together on Sundays to have church together.

West Georgia - the people, the places, and the locations, the stories is indeed like putting a history puzzle together. Listening to Dan relate stories and connections between each person, coupled with the photos always paints a picture that is easy to see. All those babies 😢... my first thought is RA factor between parents, if opposite (positive and negative) would have caused such deaths, which is all avoidable now. How incredibly sad, as well as the little children. Enjoyed the pace of taking your time walking through, just wish I'd had some Big Chic too!! Watching this channel since the first video, observing your passion for history and loving where you live has forever made its mark in my memory and my heart. Excellence again, Dan and Robert!! @@SondraD7676 I had to updo my knowledge to try & understand if Rh allows for any live births at all, & the literature assured me that a baby could survive for a short while but the complications would be incompatible with life. Hard to imagine the grief of a family desperately wanting children & yet dreading each pregnancy, knowing that baby was unlikely to survive.

Hearing the story of the old school teacher who lived to be nearly 100 and brought an old Confederate uniform into school that belonged to her Dad.

I love listening to Dan. He reminds me of my late father. As I was growing up he, too, would tell us about the family, neighbors and friends buried in the cemeteries. In 2013 we laid him to rest in the Poplar Grove Cemetery in Owen County, Kentucky ❤

I lived in Fortson Georgia for 8 years, so I really enjoy your stories. I now live with my Husband in his parents home outside of Louisville, Kentucky. We have a large cedar in the yard that my Father in law tied up with a heavy duty strap many years ago. It has kept it from splitting . He also did the same thing to a large black walnut tree. We made it through the round of tornados yesterday with no damage.

I love the history story as you go. Great, kind&humorous full of respect! My Uncle was in funeral business & I remember him doing my Uncles funeral on my Dads side of family,&We were all amazed as we watched how he managed to talk&soothe&comfort to my Grandma&.my Aunt,&miraculously made them both perfectly happy! Probably the only man or woman who managed that! Lost him last October&miss him terribly.He had to leave funeral home due to Vietnam back injury&need to lift so much,which was a sad day for the funeral business! He was the kindest most loving man🌹😢🙏😇

Every one of these people were sons and daughters of God. Mr. Dan, I really enjoy the hard work, history, and authenticity that your channel exhibits. I grew up in West Central Georgia and I find these videos to be outstanding in quality and full of so much detail that I have started watching them over and over again with the captions on the screen. I would like to ask you a question because I have not been able to find out about a type of grave marker/headstone that is on my Grandmother's plot. She died in 1930. Her tombstone is a Woodman of the World marker and it is several feet tall. It also looks like a tree with the branches cut off and some type of flower on it..I just wonder what or why she had this type of marker? My family is all gone and her child that is my parent was a child when she passed on. The reason I am so concerned is because I have been unable to discover who my Grandfather is. I am just wondering if there were records maybe kept by Woodmen of the World about those types of markers so I might be able to find out more info. Thanks.

Great episode. Those children deserve to have that oblisk returned a top thier marker. My parents started out renting a room like Dan's folks when they first got married. It was 10 cent a week extra rent if you wanted hot water. They couldn't afford it! So they heated water on the stove.
