My grandma was born in 1888. I used to love to hear her talk of her childhood. One story stands out... her school teacher would let all the children gather to look out the window when a vehicle would come down the road. Cars were not common, only the very wealthy had them. They thought that it was really something special to see.

Hey Robert and Other Robert...Great to see you, sir. My husband had a cousin who died earlier this month and was buried in our family section in the Cemetery that was on what was his 4th grandfather's plantation. His 4th grandfather died in 1824 and was the 1st buried there. The Cemetery was put into a trust that still exists and is still in perpetual care. Descendents of the 10 men who were given land grants for Revolutionary war service are still being buried here, even if they died elsewhere. What you are doing in saving the names of the lost souls you finds a true blessing and God bless you for doing this important work.

It's SO awesome to see ya'll together again!! We miss all that fun you two have together!! That cemetery reminds me of how it was in Augusta at Ft Gordon, now Ft Eisenhower, at signal school in the summer of '77. We had to build a communication line and it involved digging the telephone pole holes, installing the poles, and climbing them to install the hardware and wiring. I was from the Ozark hills of northwest Arkansas where everything is rocks and even digging a single fence post hole can be a daunting challenge. The telephone poles needed to be in the ground about 5 feet and I was so dreading that!! We started digging with shovels, and I was amazed! It was all sand and so very easy to hand dig a 5 foot pole hole! Seeing all that sand in the cemetery brought back lots of good old memories.😊

Thank you for taking the time to do the cleanup and look for the oldest Graves. And a special thanks for showing the storey markers. Now I know what I'll be doing on 1 day of my vacation next week. Taking the 40+ mile trip to the family cemetery. Clean some stones and see if there's any other storey's besides my grandmother and how many other names match the ones you'll covered. The order one's always talked about ga ancestors

Don't know if anyone responded to the Helms grave, but this one really caught my attention. My maternal grandmother's maiden name was Helms. Haven't found any relationship to this Helms. He did die during his service in 1863. His original grave marker was badly broken and was replaced with the modern marker. His father Allen Helms is buried in Waverly Hall, along with his wife Anna. He & his wife had a daughter, Sophronia. It appears she married W.C. Story in 1885. She's buried in Buena Vista, Ga. W.C was a native of Columbus, GA. It appears he remarried and is buried in Guntersville, AL beside his 2nd wife, Virginia. Thank you and other Robert for the things y'all do. I am so glad I found your channel years ago! ❤
