Excellent video as always. I used to be intimidated at the very sight of dimple locks, but now less and less the more I watch your videos. I'm still practicing on basic locks but I look forward to the day when I'm ready to attack one!

As a beginner its always interesting to see the different types of lock and pick styles, as well as some of the issues that even the pros run into that can make things tricky to pick, like a lock being dirty or full of lube and random dirt.

Tensioning Idea: If the tensioner doesn't fit snugly try wrapping a piece of electrical tape (or two) over it. Trim excess.
@t3hd0n4 жыл бұрын
the lack of feedback from the tensioner because of the tape would probably outweigh the benefits of a snug fit

Yeh commenters do worry about your hands. Tradesman hands can get gnarly after 20 or 30 winters. Try some tapping compound to rejuvenate the skin and wd for the joint pain. Also valve rubbing compound is good on the cuticles.

I just use a regular hacksaw. Usually it takes fewer than 10 strokes.

Liquid glove. Or other brands of the same stuff. You rub it into your hands BEFORE you start work to seal your pores and make it easy to clean when your done. I don't think I've come across a lock that gungy yet. If you suspect a lock is full of dirty grease, try sqirrting lock de-icer in it. That stuff is some kinda alcohol that disloves grease.
@Cooldudewhotellsamazingjokes4 жыл бұрын
Lock De-icer has isopropanol and Carnation White Mineral Oil. It is pressurized. I am looking at a tube of Lock De-Icer that I bought last year and have yet to use.
@parapicktog77344 жыл бұрын
@@Cooldudewhotellsamazingjokes that's only one brand. Another popular brand contains ethanol and comes a small squeeze bottle. There are also several other types I'm unfamiliar with. But they all seem to work well as degreasers.
@parapicktog77344 жыл бұрын
Quick start spray for diesels also works but it contains ethanol, and some brands contain methyl hydrate (gas line antifreeze) but it comes in large spray cans and is hard to control as well as costing more.

Hi, Bill. That was an 'ewee gewee' lock. Probably somebody lubed it up because of the sticky #1 spring. Thanks for showing us some unusual methods to open it up. Nice opening graphics by the way. Do you do those yourself? What is the graphic software? Thanks for sharing! Stay healthy!

Why is it that people cannot seem to figure out that locks should be lubricated with dry lubes like graphite or specially formulated lubricants that leave no residue. Instead they use 3 in 1 or WD40 which attract dirt and debris and eventually ruins the lock. This thing looked like it had motor oil in it. Maybe it was up for it's 5000 mile change...........

They didn’t reopen under a similar name, KFV and FCV were two different (sister) companies until FCV went bankrupt and became a part of KFV, which itself belongs to Siegenia-Aubi.

Hi there, How to contact you, or even get to be contacted by you? The reason I have today simple solution to make a pin tumbler lock more pick resistend in a way, I have never seen before, and wanted to know, what a real pro would think about this method. It is just a simple modification to the driver pins, that make it impossible to lift them up, when giving tension to the core, but I will not describe that here, hope you understand...
